Re: 100 Swings A Day

Good question JP me old china. I believe we all have to compromise and accept some amount of flaw in our swing and press onward in spite of it. It would have to be a really significant flaw to make practice counterproductive. Probably implicit in Hank's advice is the idea that you learn more about t...

Be careful what you wish for.

Tomorrow's forcaat at noon is 53*, 15-20 mph winds gusting to 25, and off and on rain.

Not bad conditions. You got this.

Re: Hey you, help support this site!

Dont worry though I know how to ban MattF. Still waiting.... Don't worry. Even if he does ban which is probably inevitable I'll be right there to reverse it. He might be like state government but I am Supreme court, Congress and White House. Actually I am probably even more than that. After all thi...

Re: Smartphone talk

Sometimes I feel quite alone in my suspicions about modern life. Why does nobody else around me seem to question the way things are? I mean at best, the life we know is a highly manufactured contrivance. So much of what we know as life is shaped by commerce. We are so far away from a natural mode o...

Forum news: Jasonfish11 named to moderators

Our other, original forum moderator Bkuehn1952 has been missing in action for a few weeks now. That won't do. While this board hasn't gained popularity at the rate I had envisioned, that is no reason to just lay down and wait to be picked apart by vultures. I tossed and turned for several nights, an...

Re: The Tiger Thread

Some intrigue has been set up for the final round. I am not so bullish on Tiger's chances. He looked stiff yesterday. It's a gradual process and this is just another baby step probably--first time in contention for TW 4.0. Just hoping he can get that solo second and live to see another tournament. ...

Think Animal House, like huge black dudes going up to the scrawny white kids: "MIND IF WE DANCE WITH YO DATES?" That's the right approach.

Re: Dealing with Slow Play

I played 9 last Saturday. I couldn't believe what happened. Did you ask to play through? That's how I deal with it these days. If I'm pissed I get all up in their grill and say it real forceful, more like a statement than a question. "HEY THERE. MIND IF I PLAY THROUGH." One time I did it ...

Eddie Pepperell? Sounds like it could be the name of a pizza guy, Arthur Avenue, da Bronx. Ashley Chesters? Great stage name for an adult film actress. Who are these people???

Re: 2015 "The" Open

Basically at this point everyone who's anyone has a chance to win this thing. Except Tiger. Hopefully he and Rory are commiserating right now over a twelve pack of Stroh's.

2015 "The" Open

So far, everyone is following the script--Jordan, Dustin, Jason Day. Tiger too in his own inept way is fulfilling expectations at the bottom of the leaderboard. Rickie is not following the script however. This was supposed to be a big week for him.

Re: 2015 US Women's Open

Such a fun time there on Saturday and Sunday. Loved how they moved #16 up 100+ yards to make it a drivable par 4 on Sunday. We found spots in the grandstand at 17 green for about the last half-dozen groups on Sunday and then hustled up 18 to see Yang and Lewis hit their approach shots. I was expect...

Re: Test Poll - golf balls

Nice review Jasonfish11. I'm now open to trying these off-brand balls. I like Titleist products and everything, but they are also kind of assholes. Paying Titleist prices while knowing that a lot of what you are paying for is Jim Nantz's spokesman salary, bullshit like that, it is unconscionable.

Re: WTF did you shoot today?

I had to take a self-imposed stroke-and-distance penalty, drive back to the tee, and try again. I ended up with a double. There is nothing self-imposed about it. It is not yours to impose, or not impose. Once a ball is lost, the die is cast, the penalty has been incurred. The only choice is between...

Re: 2015 US Women's Open

Did anyone watch the final round? (Don't answer--rhetorical question.) It was great. This newcomer In Gee Chun from Korea has stolen my golf-watching heart. She has it all--looks, brains, charm, ball-striking. So she doesn't speak fluent English. I don't think that really matters anymore--it is thei...

Re: How or would you play this shot?

I almost always try to hit the hero shot. Getting serious now, I love the hero shot too. But I have self control now. Attempting to dislodge a ball embedded in a rock then bouncing it backwards, or into myself, or both and then into the hazard, that kind of bullshit has happened to me. Not exactly,...

Re: What will be LB's tag line if he continues to play well?

BK brings up a interesting point. My handicap is dropping; what's interesting is that I don't seem to really give an F. My first reaction is, Oh it's just the old summertime, sweat-stain, slow-play blues. But this time I think it's bigger than that.
