Things You Never Knew About The Great Lakes.....

1. Lake Superior is actually not a lake at all but an inland sea. 2. All of the four other Great Lakes plus three more the size of Lake Erie would fit inside of Lake Superior. 3. Isle Royale is a massive island surrounded by Lake Superior. Within this island are several smaller lakes. Yes that’s a l...

Okay, these are bad - Sort of Humorous

1. Two antennas met on a roof, fell in love and got married. The ceremony wasn't much, but the reception was excellent. 2. A jumper cable walks into a bar. The bartender says, "I'll serve you, but don't start anything." 3. Two peanuts walk into a bar, and one was a salted. 4. A dyslexic man walked i...

I am #8 of the group so I do what they tell me to do. I think it is just Reunion but I could be wrong. At least we are riding (I think). Could be the first time I pray for a rainy Thursday. ;)

Re: When are you going to retire?

Which raises the question, "Would you want to know the year you were going to die?" It certainly would make retirement planning a bit easier. It would be easy to decide whether to take Social Security at 62, full retirement age or wait until 70. I guess I ultimately don't want to know. I know it is ...

...I need a break...FWIW, today was my 27th round of 2020. :fu I haven't swung a club in 30 days. Still at 3 rounds for 2020. But at the end of the month I travel to Orlando (Reunion Golf Club) for 12 rounds of golf in 6 days. I may need to be medivac'd back to the Frozen Mitten. Or buy three plane...

When are you going to retire?

I periodically see articles about how people want to retire at 40, or 50. It is a nice dream, accumulating a pile of money and playing the rest of your life. My limited experience is paying for medical insurance from age 40/50 could be ruinous. Not to mention all the other expenses of living. If you...

Re: WTF did you buy today?

Nice. Clean lines. I like the colors. How much do you think it weighs when you have everything you use/store in the bag? I suspect you are more careful about exactly what is in the bag. I have a buddy who tossed all sorts of things into his staff bag. In fact, I would stuff balls I found into his ba...

I want to be able to hit a high (4 to 5 feet high) chip that carries about 10 to 12 feet and rolls out about a foot. If I could do that regularly and with confidence, I'd be happy.
That shot is easy; I do it all the time. Problem is the distance to the hole is 35 feet. :facepalm

How Long Have We Been Doing This?

How long have we been typing away on oob/LG? 10 years? I looked back at when I started "hole by hole" record keeping with oob. First "hole by hole" score posted was 8/7/2010. I subsequently back-filled several years of scores but they were only totals. Clearly as time went by, I became more loquacio...

Re: Bawlz

I think the EXP-01 is a different ball than the "Union Green". The article says it is a 3 piece multilayer urethane covered ball that has exceptionally low spin rates on long game shots. Titleist is testing the ball with a limited run available to the public for a short time.

Titleist EXP-01

Titleist EXP-01, anyone testing this ball for Titleist? @DougE likely has the inside scoop already but is keeping it a secret. I may need to snoop around and see whether there are any locally.

Speaking of poop ...

Speaking of poop, always amazing how much crap the Canada geese drop. Plenty of deer droppings, too, what with their semi-protected status around here. And then there are the dogs. Lots of nice piles left by our pooches where the owner decided bagging was not necessary on a golf course. Anyone notic...

About to leave for the boat. So cold today, gonna need my goose down bonnet.
I am jealous, no matter how cold and wet it is in NYC. We continue to get the slow death of 1-2 inches of snow every day. Easy to shovel but impossible to play golf.

Yes! And also you can carp about "kids", the various parts of your body that hurt or don't work too well, and advances in technology. :school

2020 February Golf

Sadly, I missed my opportunity last weekend. Sunday (2/2/2020) was 50 degrees and sunny. Much of the snow was gone, although shady areas were still covered and the ground was a boggy mess in low spots. I spent the afternoon walking a local course (Eagle Crest) with my wife Josie. Several groups of t...

I agree with Phil. If you are not good enough to qualify in one way or the other, then don't play. It can suck being a ceremonial golfer unless, like me, one has always been a "field filler".

Re: '19-'20 Winter Support Group Thread

At our local course the ground is probably 90% covered with snow. We have officially had -0- sunny days over the past week. Temperatures remain moderate with highs around 35 degrees and lows in the high 20's. We have had 20 or so inches of snow so far, about half the normal amount, with February and...
