Re: Golf in a Plague Year

Since I can't play, I have been roaming the hills of Leslie Park. I have not seen any maintenance being conducted but there are signs of activity. The greens were fertilized/top dressed and some tree removal has occurred. There is a convenient hole in the fence next to the "Stay Off the Course" sign...

Re: Golf in a Plague Year

The latest from RI is three Massachusetts men were arrested for playing golf in RI. RI has ordered non-residents entering the state to self-quarantine for 14 days. The one exception is if work brings you to RI (e.g. a truck driver). Apparently these three idiots drove down and then switched cars to ...

The optics are no good IMO....It's for the lowest common denominator of society.
Yes, as soon as someone videos a couple golfers within 6 feet of each other, or riding together, the ax will fall.

Re: Golf in a Plague Year

We have been walking closed courses. Fewer people than the nature areas. More interesting scenery. Is that legal? No judgement here, just curious if this is accepted. We tend to walk courses that are not fenced in or that are not way out in the rural landscape. We do our two city courses (with the ...

Re: Disc Golf

Traditionally, all "holes" are par 3. But think of par and distance in feet. A decent par 3 might be 150 feet. A monster hole might be 450 feet (and probably is tough to get 3). Wind, as in golf, is tough. Currently, disc golf should likely be a solo or 2 person game. In normal times it is not unusu...

Re: Golf in a Plague Year

I'm not there yet mentally but one idea of mine is to plot out a disc golf ( :facepalm) course around my apartment complex. It's a mile-long loop of serene walkways, with lots of big trees, lightposts and other potential "holes". I know jack squat about disc golf but I suspect that our community is...

Re: Spring 2020 Support Group

I exchanged emails with @dusty23 . He is still alive and kicking on Cape Cod. He works nights now and doesn't get to play as often as he formerly did. Also, it appears his only internet access is at work and restrictions do not allow him to use the work equipment for personal computing.

Re: Golf in a Plague Year

CeeBee is playing a lot and last I heard, Delaware (where he now lives) was still allowed to play golf. Hmmm. He may beat us both. Either way, one of you guys will still have an asterisk! According to CeeBee 's ClubSG account, he took a 2 week "vacation" in the middle of the month. He is no threat ...

How about some golf talk?

No 4 iron for me. I decided some time ago that an additional fairway wood/hybrid would play the role. I don't think I have had a 3 iron in over 20 years.

Golf in a Plague Year

A local blogger has been using the "Plague Year", which I think is appropriate, so I appropriated his phrase. Yes, a nice use of the word appropriate. The golf industry is still awaiting clarification of the Governor's shut down with respect to the golf industry. I am expecting a thumbs down but may...

Re: Describe Your Best Shot of the Month

Well done legitimatebeef . I haven't carried a 4 iron in a decade. Here in the Locked Down Mitten, golf is on hiatus. So my March entry is the second shot on #6 at Stonebridge. Probably my last round for a while. It is a long par 3 playing dead into a 20+ mph wind. Trouble left and right but I someh...

Re: Congressional CC shut down for Corona, et. al.

When the Titanic hit the berg, did they shut the bar down or tell everyone to stop playing cards? If this is as bad as some project, playing a few rounds of golf may not be what sinks the ship. Yes 10,000 kids hang in' at the beach likely is irresponsible. A guy playing golf?

Re: Corona Virus Rants and Facts and Rumors

Kroger or Busch's? There are two groceries very close to home. Kroger is less expensive and larger. Busch's is a regional chain. More expensive, more prepared foods, better wine selection. Kroger has a lot of people looking for lower costs BUT there are many mask wearers. Busch's is less busy but th...

Our office had made Wednesday's "Dog Day" and employees could bring in their best friends. Sadly, we are all working from home so no dogs. We do have two "pets" at home. Helmet Head and Scout. HH is a fox squirrel with two misshapened ears. He comes to our back deck and we feed him peanuts by hand. ...
