Re: Tennis

I like the US Open with its night matches and EDT schedule. I predict Serena and Feds win. A last hurrah for those tennis fixtures.

Well, that was sort of a snooze. None of the big names made a run and Lowry strolls home.

Re: WTF did you buy today?

Bought some Footjoys from the Golf Warehouse. Hyper flex II whatever that means. Kind of goofy looking but they have a two year waterproof guarantee and that is my goal, dry feet. My current Footjoys are leaking and will be recycled. $85 with free shipping seemed a decent price.

Re: The Open, Chez is 175/1 to win

The last major of the year. Seems strange that it's only mid-July and that statement is true. Also the Open being the last one seems off too. I'm a little conflicted with my thoughts. It feels like it's been a long time since the Masters, but it also feels like this is the last week of golf until n...

Re: 2019 goals

If you are hitting a lot more greens, that results in less "practice" of the short game during a regular or practice round. Rather than start missing greens, which is something I might do, maybe just up the short game practice a bit more to make up for your not using those skills quite as often in a...

Nicely done @DougE ! :up

It does seem like we often play up or down to the level of the fellow players. Or do we just remember selectively?

My goal over the final four holes was to finish without losing my last ball. I did it. Small positive takeaway.
One of the old methods of getting the job done. Set a goal. Well done. :thumbs

The Maestro appears to have a little bit left in the tank. I hope that Serbian butt head gets a dish of humility but even if it doesn't happen, I am content.

Re: Tennis

Wimbledonz started. I don't like Federer's chances because the grass is so slow this year. In tennis, if you are old, ironically you need a fast, not a slow court surface. Champion is going to be Slavic douchebag Novak Djokovic. The Maestro has a better draw. Plus the 6th and 16th seeds are out alr...

Re: WTF did you shoot today?

FINALLY! :yess I played my "home" course this morning. Low expectations as I shot an 88 Sunday and generally have been a shadow of my former golf ability. Played with two good senior players who sport handicaps in the 2.5 to 4.0 range. Shot a 76. Something seemed to click with my game today. There h...

Re: Describe Your Best Shot of the Month

June is over and my fading memory makes selecting a shot from yesterday the easy out. Hole #11 at Radrick Farms (semi-private course for University professors and staff) is an extremely uphill par-3. Light wind in our faces, maybe 7 mph. Middle of the green is 180 yards. Front hole location so maybe...

Re: WTF did you shoot today?

More of the same. 82. The pluses were: a. 2 birdies (the first multiple birdie day in a long time) b. 13 GIR Of course I had to bookend the first nine with triples and four 3-putts slowed me down. Still, some positives were there. The course was a quagmire after it rained the entire previous day. Gr...

Re: ... about to put ______ in the video player

I have always been drawn to movies where the world is in trouble and a few hardy survivors battle nature, aliens, zombies, whatever. Maybe growing up in the Cold War years made me want to believe one could survive a nuclear exchange. Since I know the protagonist in " Into the Wild" was ill prepared,...

I felt a bit mean for hoping Koepka would fall on his face. He is just so mellow and perfect. :puke Of course, Gary Woodland is hardly Mr. Dynamic. Re: WTF did you shoot today?

I have been playing and scoring poorly for months. The who thing has become a bit of a downer. Yesterday was more of the same. 84, no birdies, couple of doubles, a lost ball. I did manage to par the last two holes to savage a mediocre score (84 is the new 79 for me). "Fortunately" it looks like we a...

How the heck did The NYC Golf thread devolve into a fashion discussion? But when in Rome ... I do not own or wear t-shirts except white undershirts. "Polo" shirts are my standard wear until it gets too could for short sleeves.
