Re: 2019 summer support group

If I had unlimited means, perhaps I could split the year between hemispheres, thereby avoiding summer altogether. Presumably your job can be done anywhere there is internet, yes? NYC from October 1 to March 31... Lima Peru (or Ecuador, Chile, etc ...) from April 1 to September 30. Rent out the apar...

Re: WTF did you shoot today?

More of the same. 82. The pluses were: a. 2 birdies (the first multiple birdie day in a long time) b. 13 GIR Of course I had to bookend the first nine with triples and four 3-putts slowed me down. Still, some positives were there. The course was a quagmire after it rained the entire previous day. Gr...

I always liked the "Poulan Weedeater Bowl". Truly a classic name, along with the Rose Bowl and Orange Bowl.

Re: ... about to put ______ in the video player

I have always been drawn to movies where the world is in trouble and a few hardy survivors battle nature, aliens, zombies, whatever. Maybe growing up in the Cold War years made me want to believe one could survive a nuclear exchange. Since I know the protagonist in " Into the Wild" was ill prepared,...

Re: 2019 US Open @ Pebble Beach

I felt a bit mean for hoping Koepka would fall on his face. He is just so mellow and perfect. :puke Of course, Gary Woodland is hardly Mr. Dynamic. At least he appears to have a bit of a paunch around the middle. Mr. Woods partially redeemed himself with a great final 12 holes. It was painful watchi...

Wild Turkeys

Insert joke about booze here [ ] Some years ago, someone in the Michigan Department of Natural Resources decided to re-introduce turkeys to SE Michigan. What a success story if one likes turkeys. They are everywhere. It is a rare golf outing where one does not see several flocks of the birds. There ...

Re: WTF did you shoot today?

I have been playing and scoring poorly for months. The who thing has become a bit of a downer. Yesterday was more of the same. 84, no birdies, couple of doubles, a lost ball. I did manage to par the last two holes to savage a mediocre score (84 is the new 79 for me). "Fortunately" it looks like we a...

How the heck did The NYC Golf thread devolve into a fashion discussion? But when in Rome ... I do not own or wear t-shirts except white undershirts. "Polo" shirts are my standard wear until it gets too could for short sleeves.

Mr. Woods appears to have putted himself out of the tournament. I really hope Brooks Koepka does win this thing. His "bomb & gouge" approach is perfect for the meathead golf fan but the guy is boooorrrrrrring.

Feds was not going to beat Nadal on clay at the French. It just can't happen. Not at Fed's age. Let's go play on grass. Feds is at home there and given a good draw, he has a chance. Feds winning Wimbledon after the Masters? Nirvana. :yess

Sadly, they will likely beat each other to a pulp and Dockic (whatever that Serb's name is) will stroll to the title.

I wonder if our fearless leader is having trouble pulling the event together. You should be able to make the cu...

Hank Haney stepped in it a bit with some lame comments about predicting a winner ("A Korean") and not knowing anyone's name ("I'll pick 'Lee'). Why can't people in the public eye just think a little before they start talking? There is nothing wrong with saying one doesn't follow the LPGA very closel...

Yes, the NCAA did not allow dunking for quite a while (I looked it up ... 1967 to 1976). A reaction to Abdul-Jabbar's presence in the college game.

Great point, srogers13. Teams only had to win a few games with only 8-10 teams.
