Or perhaps it is a reflection of the fact that the current lineup of professionals at the top is like a revolving door?

Re: If You Could Play Golf as Often as You Prefer, How Often?

Around 85-90 as of 10/9. Since I switched to independent contractor status (4/1) and essentially work 2 days a week, one would expect I would be playing more but that hasn't happened. Somewhere along the line I lost my game and probably as a consequence, my burning desire to be on the course. I have...

Re: Severe downhill lie to a distant uphill target

For me, one of the toughest lies in the game. I'm not talking about a lie where your front foot is a couple inches lower than your rear foot. I mean a lie where your front foot is 8-12 inches, or more, below your back foot, like on the front side of a steep mogul. I feel this shot is nearly impossi...

Re: Describe Your Best Shot of the Month

My September was a bit golfless, being out of the country for much of the month. The best and most timely was early in the month at one of my fav courses, Pierce Lake. I arrived at #18 needing a par 3 to break 80. I had just finished butchering #16 and #17. The final hole is listed at around 195 yar...

Food - Fresh Buffalo Mozzarella

I had always sort of wondered why fresh "Buffalo Mozzarella" was called "Buffalo". I intuitively knew it was not because it came from Buffalo, NY. Still, why the name? Wikipedia explained that the term was used because the cheese was traditionally made in Italy from water buffalo...

Re: golf is hard

Pushing or carrying is a bit of an effort, no doubt. Certainly not like a 25 mile bike ride or running a 10k, but it still requires some stamina. I literally bought the lightest bag available and make an assessment of how many balls to take (usually 6), level in the water bottle (half) and whether t...

Re: Hello from Roma

Naturally, when one is away from home for 14 days, a visit to the Laundromat is required. I don't own 14 pairs of undershorts. I spotted a nice place in Vieste and did a few of our items. I don't speak or read Italian, other than a few phrases. Above the small washing machine, there was the followin...

Re: Hello from Roma

We made it back. The last day was a bit of a bother. Up early and took a cab to the Napoli train station. Caught the 7:08 fast train to Roma Termini station. The fast train is no bullet train but books along at 150 miles per hour. Once at Termini, we bought tickets on the "Leonardo Express"...

I have been drinking Nastro Azura when not guzzling some local red wine served in a milk pitcher. I have a bottle of "Primitivo", whatever that is supposed to mean. Birthday gift. Went to a buffalo farm where they make fresh bufalo mozzarella. When I return, you will all have an opportunit...

I do not believe any men's major would be reduced to 54 holes. C'mon, commish, use that pair you were born with. Make the ladies play Monday and/or Tuesday if need be.

I wonder if our President will decide to attend, in as much as the "Cup" is named for his position? And it is just a short helicopter ride from D.C.

Re: WTF did you shoot today?

Management admitted the hole was not placed appropriately and will speak with the groundskeeper concerned (apparently he's the only one there who doesn't actually play golf!) I have noticed a similar situation at some of our courses. Perhaps the greenskeeper feels some of the standard positions are...
