Re: The Grint Virtual Tour

I am game to give this a try. I just shoveled 7 inches of new snow this morning, however, so I do not anticipate recording a round real soon. Let's all see what happens with this session and then decide how to proceed (or not).

Re: February Golf

If playing from the senior tees is what makes me play good golf, may have to consider moving up when I turn 55 in a few months. In extreme conditions, playing the course shorter only makes sense. 20-30 yards a drive (14 x) and losing another 20-30 on the four 2nd shots on par 5's adds 360 to 540 ya...

It would be fun to see Lee Trevino and Chi Chi give it a try (in their prime).
I'd throw Seve into that mix too.

Re: 2019 PGA Tour thread

I grew up with a dog in the house. Yes, got the face lick all the time.

Now I see how dogs are fairly indiscriminate in what or where they lick. Hmmmmm.

Re: 2019 PGA Tour thread

Rory attempting to hit the TPC Sawgrass island green with every club (minus putter) in the bag. I think it would be cool to try that. Does anyone know the yardage it was playing? I suspect a few of us could give Rory a run for his money. 3 of 13 is not particularly good, in my ignorant opinion. :sc...

Re: What Do You Carry in Your Pockets During a Round?

It would be an interesting experiment to have a stranger re-arrange what and where we carry stuff while playing golf. Make me, Fish and Beef carry an extra ball in our right pocket. Attach gpickin's phone to his bag. Take away SJ's hankie. Take the spare balls away from MattF and GBogey. Place all t...

What Do You Carry in Your Pockets During a Round?

LB posted info that El Tigré always carries 3 tees: Interesting factoids. El Tigré always carries three tees in his pocket, and also a 25-cent coin from 1932, the year his dad was born. :breaking I always carry 4 tees (I have no reason why, other than that is what I do). If I find additional tees du...

Re: 3rd Annual Frozen Balls Challenge - 2018-2019

Well, we have about one month left. Personally, I am leaning toward Beef, based on sheer volume of play and resolute adherence to the Rules of Golf. We need some scores, descriptions of playing conditions, etc... Right now the Frozen Mitten is encased in about 2 inches of ice, sleet and frozen snow....

Re: February Golf

I drove by the course this morning and saw several more guys playing than I expected as it was quite cold. I went myself at 1 pm, barely 40 degrees but sun was shining. Wasn't going to play but then I thought, there you people in the frozen mitten dying for day like this. As it was it was one of my...

Re: Anyone up for some Golf in San Diego this weekend?

If I were okay with dropping $252 for a round of golf, double it and do Pebble some other weekend. Torrey Pines is a great venue but $250 sounds too high. I have played Torrey Pines a couple times and only a few of the holes are memorable. Plus the grass used in the rough is insane. Two feet from th...

Why is DougE Online and not On Course?

In Florida and it is February. You have played when your arm is about to fall off. You have played when it is 40 degrees with a cyclone blowing. The only excuse we will accept is there are thunderstorms overhead or your mother's 90th birthday is today.

Re: February Golf

Yes, other than the goose tootsie rolls, the greens roll okay at all the winter courses. They are definitely slower but if one hits the ball hard enough, it generally goes where you hit it.

Everyone Remember CeeBee?

Well, it worked with Dusty. CeeBee had arthroscopic knee surgery in December, 2018. He hopes to be back on the course by March. I suspect he still does not have his computer setup after the move to DE (or South New Jersey, as I still doubt there is a state named Delaware). Maybe with all the time on...

Re: February Golf

Less than a week ago we had 8 inches of snow and then "real feel" temperatures of -40 degrees (f). Today I wandered around our city's executive course. Only the flat seven are open so I went around almost three times for 19 holes. It was surprisingly nice. Hmmm - three times seven equals 21, not 19...

Re: Course Staff and Rangers

Decades ago, our city-owned course was always quite busy. There was a lot less competition and the prices were too low (but since the City at that time subsidized the operation). The clubhouse guy (Herb) was a well known curmudgeon and general all-around ass to his customers. But since the course wa...
