Re: Poison Ivy - What would you do?

I wonder how many Board Members of the USGA have gotten poison ivy rashes from playing golf in the past 20 years. Many of the exclusive private clubs likely would not tolerate poison ivy growing along the course. I can imagine Augusta National taking flamethrowers to any encroaching ivy.

Re: Poison Ivy - What would you do?

Is poison ivy considered a dangerous condition, like say an alligator or fire ants? He might get free relief. And if there was a question like that, could he have played two balls to finish the hole (under each relief option, free drop and unplayable) and then ask the rules committee at the end of ...

Poison Ivy - What would you do?

During the last day of our City Golf Championship one of my playing group hit an errant shot into the edge of the forest. The ball was playable and getting it out in the fairway in a nice position was very possible. In fact I was close by and did exactly that. His problem was he was wearing shorts a...

Re: 2018 LPGA thread

Thidapa Suwannapura, WORTHINGTON MANOR regular, WINS the LPGA Marathon Classic in a playoff over Brittney Lincicome! So proud of her, even though she has held me up on the course once or twice playing in the group ahead. I guess I can cut her some slack now. She has now qualified for the Women's Br...

Re: WTF did you shoot today?

Completed one of my "major" championships the past 3 days. This marked my 28th Ann Arbor Men's City Golf Championship. One of my fellow competitors was born the year I first started playing the event (1990). I am not used to playing at yardages of 6,600-6,700 anymore and my expectations were fairly ...

Re: 2018 summer support group

Let's see ... tee off at 1:24pm. Add 5.5 hours and LB will be done at 7:00pm EDT Train back to NYC, Uber, subway, walk ... home at 9:00!! Can't wait for the write up. Who thinks he breaks 80? 90? 100? # of pars + birdies = ?? I think he breaks 100 and has 5 pars and a birdie to go along with all the...

Re: Describe Your Best Shot of the Month

Had my first legit eagle on a par 5 today. Had one over the winter but I was playing the senior tees due to the conditions. Driver/FW to 20 feet and made the putt. Hole is listed as 477 - I'm sure the tees were up a little, but this one is legit. Nice eagle 3. I am also a bit ambivalent when faced ...

Re: Describe Your Best Shot of the Month

It is one day early but I know I will not play today. My last hole at the most recent tournament presented a quandary. I had started out shaky but righted the ship somewhat as the day cruised along. Since we use a shotgun start, my last hole was #12, a 150 yard par 3. I wasn't sure where I stood in ...

Re: 2018 PGA Tour Thread

Unless I can score some discount or free tix, I may skip it. I suppose I'll see how he does Thursday before making a final decision. Call Team Titleist and casually ask them if they have any promotions associated with the tournament and if so, can you get discount tickets. They might just send you ...

Re: WTF did you shoot today?

I play in a lot of our Club's net tournaments. Thursday we played a round at Huntmore. Right out of the gate I managed to double and then bogey the first two holes. My game was shaky at best but I ground out a 78, net 69. It was one of those rounds where one feels like they are shooting 88 and yet i...

Re: WTF did you shoot today?

Golf is cruel, totally cruel. Agree. There are rounds where nothing goes in and others where everything falls; one plays pretty much the same yet has completely different scores. The weather is going to be beastly at your new home but you will get the last laugh starting in November. p.s. a 78 is d...

Re: 2018 summer support group

I seem to have hit my stride. Scoring is coming around and I occasionally strike the ball well more than once in a row. Of course now I am starting to worry about the inevitable decline in my game that must be just around the corner. Good things never last in golf, hero today, putz tomorrow.

Re: 2018 PGA Tour Thread

Assume Shinnecock was just another private course located in central NJ and never hosted a US Open. You have an opportunity to join. The dues are a bit high because they maintain a set of tees @ 7,500 yards and they tend to set the course up a bit on the difficult side with shaved green approaches, ...

Re: 2018 summer support group

After three weeks of struggling with back problems I finally got back on the course today. 24°C, little bit windy, terrific weather. We could even play through, no flight in view in front of us and a full hole gap between us and the fligh starting after us after three holes. Yay! Anyway, at the 8th...

Going retro with lead tape on the toe (or heel). I like it. Everyone else in the golf world just loosens the dial on the driver shaft or the sole weights and adjusts it. :thumbs

I think we all agree that in a tournament or where something is on the line and there is an agreement to putt out, we all putt out. We have a regular twilight round on Tuesdays. It is virtually a practice round as the other guys move the ball, hit 2nd balls, etc... We try to move fast, jump around, ...

Re: Backstopping/Collusion controversy in pro golf

So when I play in tournaments my decision is based on how quickly the other player tends to play their shots. If I can get the ball and mark it w/o interrupting their routine or getting in their way then I do so. If I know they are quick I stay out of their way unless I know it won't bother them. S...
