I have had similar feelings when I look out over the entire course and there is not a single person out there except me. I will admit to talking to myself just to have a bit of human sound. It is a great way to play golf, having your own course.

In Hellabama, had a 45* morning with a 15mph wind and a heavy drizzle. Played in shorts.
Ha ha ha, you are one of "those guys". We have the "must wear shorts" golfers up here in the frigid mitten, too. None were out there today.

Re: December Golf!!!

It is hopeless to urge you to completely rest your body from any golf activity so I sort of hope you get a major snow storm and power outage for the next week.

*note on temp reference, the balls are room temp and the ball temperature has more affect on distances than ambient temp. Ambient temperature has damn near 0 noticeable affect on shot characteristics (it's less than 1% difference in 20 degrees of temp). I've tested this when bored before, stat nerd...

Re: Live music--what is it good for?

I looked at tickets for an upcoming Michael Bublé concert in Detroit (Little Caesar's Arena - the hockey arena). Sitting in the rafters was $200 a ticket. Main floor in the back $500. Top end tickets were $1,500+. :fk Wait a second ... we are talking about Michael Bublé, not somebody that the 15-50 ...

Re: Bawlz

I played a "Pinnacle Soft" (not sure of the exact appellation) for my two December rounds. I got them 9 months ago as part of the company's annual meeting golf activity. They seemed to "feel" okay and performed decently in the cold temperatures. I was bummed when I drowned the only one I had in bag....

Congratulations to all who persevered and played December golf. I too teed it up yesterday. No heroics but like the beef, the swing seemed to find a groove on the second nine. I was booming them almost 200 yards :facepalm

Re: 2018 Fall Support Group

I played an early season round a couple years ago and my cart mate brought a cover. It was very windy and quite cold. It would have been miserable in a cart without the cover. If one is not walking, a cover is mandatory when the temperatures and wind drop the "real feel" under 35 degrees. If the rou...

Re: 2018 Fall Support Group

On really sunny days, my wife and I will sit on the front porch in our Adirondack chairs. We have a southern exposure and the sun reflects off the house. The chair's flat arm rests are great for setting a beverage. Some days in January we are out there in parkas and hats but the ambient temperature ...

Re: ... Just put "Game Night" in the video player

I had very low expectations of this comedy and was surprised ... I liked it. Not a classic but really a pretty decent movie. The "other" couples and their dialogue while participating in the game night were particularly humorous.

Hero World Challenge - Tiger Woods!!

Between all the college conference playoffs and pro football, I will need to wedge in some Golf Channel viewing time. Tiger takes on 17 other multi millionaires this weekend.

... 9 are straight East or West, meaning that when the wind really blows you are going to have 4-5 holes that are much easier than normal and 4-5 holes that are much more difficult. Same here when the turf is wet/soggy and the wind is blowing. The 5 par fours into the wind are often unreachable for...

Re: WTF did you shoot today?

A snow event is on the horizon for the frigid mitten. Optimists think we will get rain and further north, snow and wind. I have been hustling to get all the leaves picked up. The snow cleared a few days ago. After running the lawnmower over the yard one last time, I figured I deserved a break. Playe...

What do the numbers: Driving "20", Approach "10", Pitch "5" Sand "8" and Putting "3" mean? Are they a grade? Is higher better or lower?

There are two days left for the current leaders to gag and drop down the leader board. Still, it is interesting how the top 10 is filled with ladies from the USA. Maybe home cooking and McDonalds is the answer. The ladies from the USA were largely absent from the top during the Asian swing. I am beg...

I have other plans for the $20 that would be required for the pay per view fee. If it were on ABC or another "free" network, I am there.
