Re: 2019 summer support group

So, I DID play today in those winds discussed above, only they gusted over 35 mph at times. Wore a jacket and a vest, but no gloves. Considering the wild conditions, I only lost one ball. And I would have lost that ball whether it was blowing 50 mph or dead calm. It was just a terrible swing as a re...

Re: Random golf thoughts

I've been so happy wearing pants again the last couple weeks. Interestingly, it has coincided with my overall play taking a turn for the better. Hmmm?

Re: Random golf thoughts

I'm hoping to squeeze one or two more rounds in before it gets too cold for me. You're kidding, right? Too cold? You play golf in Ohio, not Siberia. C'mon Matt. You're playing well. Don't stop now. It's only October. If it's above 40*, (and there is nothing stopping you otherwise, like family, heal...

Re: 2019 summer support group

It's time to end the summer thread. It's colder than summer now. Definitely feels like fall. Thursday forecast here is 20-25 mph winds and a high of 55* which will feel like 40! I'm supposed to play at Musket Ridge (my favorite away course in the area), but I'm not so sure I want to pay to play on a...

legitimatebeef TS2 or TS3 baby. :ohyeah Nothing prettier at address. Unless, of course, you like trendy-looking shit. :puke Then yeah, try the M series, the Ping G series and the Cobras too. All have performed well in the distance catagory. Yet, most every PLAYER I know, regardless of the brand dri...

Re: 2019 summer support group

legitimatebeef You are probably right on both counts. However, on your second point, even though I know I can always be in even better shape, I feel I am in very good shape for my age. No belly, rarely drink, never smoked, very active, do yoga stretches daily, walk at least 4 miles a day and basica...

Re: 2019 summer support group

Mid-back issues, on-going elbow issues and long-term shoulder issues all happening simultaneously. Mostly back as a result of a swing change. Weight has been good. 20-25 lbs. down from 2017. Primary care doctor wanted to make sure I tried to lose it. I did. He was happy. Certainly, the slight swing ...

Re: 2019 summer support group

My swing woes continue, though I have seen a few signs of brightness here and there. Starting to get my iron play back. Driver is spotty. Hit some excellent drives, then will miss one badly off the toe or heel and be off balance. Still not really keeping score, officially. Just out there working on ...

Re: WTF did you shoot today?

GBOGEY2 Great that you were able to calm down and not give up after a double-double start; particularly playing with two good players. I know you were hopeful for---or maybe expecting---better, but it was a tournament. A real one. I don't care what anyone says. The pressure is much greater when you...

Re: Post your pics of the courses you play

I don't know, but I'm guessing iPhone. The course superintendent took it. He's not very sophisticated. He makes greens and fairways nice. Doesn't know anything about photography as far as I know. I see and speak with him almost every day, but I've never seen him with a camera in his cart. Just shove...

Re: Post your pics of the courses you play

Another nice shot looking out from the clubhouse area to the 14th green at Worthington just after sunrise. The practice green and cart barn are to the right. Worthington used to be a farm. That barn is probably well-over 100 years old. Civil War battles were fought on the property. Photo was taken y...

Re: WTF did you shoot today?

GBOGEY2 A 79 in an over 50/senior event will be respectable from 6500 yards. Tournament scores are typically always a bit higher than average for all but the best competitors. Also, my suggestion is to make sure your long irons, hybrids and fairway wood(s) are working well. Spend time on those in t...

Re: 2019 summer support group

My game is officially cooked. How does one just lose it completely? Went from hitting virtually every shot in a round very well and loaded with confidence in July, to not being able to hit the ball anymore. Have never seen anything like it. I've had slumps before. This is way more than a simple one ...

Re: 2019 summer support group

SJD, I'll commiserate with you further on this AFTER it has been going on for over a month for you. Until then, you are just having a few questionable spells. When you join me in Ian Baker Finch territory, my heart will be open to you.

Re: 2019 summer support group

Or maybe you have contracted Ian Finch Disease!! :o I hate to say it, but I was beginning to feel that way. Just like him, I'm going to keep working at it. Even he gave up, eventually, though. I'll figure it out sooner or later, though later isn't much of an option considering I'll be looking at So...

Re: 2019 summer support group

Play it more. You'll get better at it, and likely your whole game in general. Playing tough courses really taught me to play the game at a higher level. Unfortunately, for me right now, I couldn't break 85 at an easy course, it seems. My game is still deep in the shitter. I'm totally lost. Confused....

Re: 2019 summer support group

I'm in the worst slump I've had in awhile. Haven't posted an official score since early August. I haven't really been keeping score. I have just been out working on issues. Driver swing fell apart. My mid-back is sore. Probably too much golf. It's affecting my ability to drive through the ball. It's...

Re: Pre-Release (g)rumblings of new Titleist irons

Titleist is number one, by a wide margin, for a reason. And it's certainly not because they pay Tour players to play it. Unlike TM. Yes, there are staff Tour pros at Titleist too, but none are getting big bucks to play Titleist balls. TM pays a bundle to Rory, Ricky, and Dustin to play them. Titleis...

Re: Random golf thoughts

....Last week there was a new guy behind the counter. Charged me a really cheap rate for 9 holes. Then yesterday he did it again but for 18. After I got to my clubs I looked at the receipt - he gave me the senior rate. So should I be pissed that he assumed I was a senior (I'm not) without asking or...

Re: Pre-Release (g)rumblings of new Titleist irons

Mrs. Bogey would kill me if I had Doug's equipment budget. For the record, my budget is not that big for new clubs. I only buy new irons every couple years, and up until this T200 order, was playing 4-year-old AP2s and 2-year-old AP3s. Plus, my pro is giving me a good price on the down-low (far bet...
