Re: 2019 summer support group

SJD, I'll commiserate with you further on this AFTER it has been going on for over a month for you. Until then, you are just having a few questionable spells. When you join me in Ian Baker Finch territory, my heart will be open to you.

Re: 2019 summer support group

Or maybe you have contracted Ian Finch Disease!! :o I hate to say it, but I was beginning to feel that way. Just like him, I'm going to keep working at it. Even he gave up, eventually, though. I'll figure it out sooner or later, though later isn't much of an option considering I'll be looking at So...

Re: 2019 summer support group

Play it more. You'll get better at it, and likely your whole game in general. Playing tough courses really taught me to play the game at a higher level. Unfortunately, for me right now, I couldn't break 85 at an easy course, it seems. My game is still deep in the shitter. I'm totally lost. Confused....

Re: 2019 summer support group

I'm in the worst slump I've had in awhile. Haven't posted an official score since early August. I haven't really been keeping score. I have just been out working on issues. Driver swing fell apart. My mid-back is sore. Probably too much golf. It's affecting my ability to drive through the ball. It's...

Re: Pre-Release (g)rumblings of new Titleist irons

Titleist is number one, by a wide margin, for a reason. And it's certainly not because they pay Tour players to play it. Unlike TM. Yes, there are staff Tour pros at Titleist too, but none are getting big bucks to play Titleist balls. TM pays a bundle to Rory, Ricky, and Dustin to play them. Titleis...

Re: Random golf thoughts

....Last week there was a new guy behind the counter. Charged me a really cheap rate for 9 holes. Then yesterday he did it again but for 18. After I got to my clubs I looked at the receipt - he gave me the senior rate. So should I be pissed that he assumed I was a senior (I'm not) without asking or...

Re: Pre-Release (g)rumblings of new Titleist irons

Mrs. Bogey would kill me if I had Doug's equipment budget. For the record, my budget is not that big for new clubs. I only buy new irons every couple years, and up until this T200 order, was playing 4-year-old AP2s and 2-year-old AP3s. Plus, my pro is giving me a good price on the down-low (far bet...

Re: Pre-Release (g)rumblings of new Titleist irons

So when the new wedges come out I'm thinking about getting a 48 to go along with my 54 and 58 - that should provide the overlap I want. Also, I'm waiting on the SM8 wedges so that I can buy SM7's at some sort of discount - that and the timing would be right for wedge replacement. Based upon the art...

Re: Pre-Release (g)rumblings of new Titleist irons

I say drop the T200 'W' and continue with your 3-Vokey setup, but buy a 50* and bend it to 49*, making sure to purchase a higher bounce club, since bending strong will decrease bounce as well (a little bit). You can probably sell the 'W' club on ebay. I'm actually looking forward to the distance I ...

Re: Pre-Release (g)rumblings of new Titleist irons

This will be the first time in years I will not be playing a three-club set of Vokey wedges. I started playing Vokeys in 2009 and originally played 52/56/60, but later moved to a 50/54/58 set up, which I like better. Now, with the T200 48W, I will have to drop the 50* Vokey from my bag, which I real...

Re: Pre-Release (g)rumblings of new Titleist irons

I think Tony Covey explains it fairly well. Frankly, it (the left dash version) doesn't interest me. I continue to play the AVX with some success, but now in the middle of a slight swing change, I may put the new ProV1x into play for a few weeks while it's still warm out to see if the new swing chan...

Re: Incomplete Rounds

Good thing you played that last hole and didn't give up due to the rain and then instead, post an ESC score for the last. Since it was the hardest hole on that nine, surely you would be getting a stroke there, so you would have had to post a 5 for the final hole. Either way, still a great nine in le...

Re: Post your pics of the courses you play

There's some room, but not a lot. 20 paces. You better hit your approach high to have any chance to stop it on the green. I do tend to go off the back often. For me, I typically have 6 iron or longer for my approach, none of which are easy to get up high enough if it's a downhill lie. Hitting a hybr...

Re: Post your pics of the courses you play

Here's a fun little hole. 423 yard par 4, No. 12 at Worthington. This is the approach. Another forced carry over wetlands. If you drive it too far, even in the fairway, you leave yourself a difficult downhill lie to an uphill green. Always fun.

Re: Pre-Release (g)rumblings of new Titleist irons

The quick answer: Probably within a week of ordering them. I just want to work a few swing issues out before I decide on standard length or +1/2. Plus, the typical DougE, long-winded answer: I'm also not sure what to do about my 4 iron. I had wanted to spend time trying TS3 Hybrid vs. T200 4 iron vs...

Re: Pre-Release (g)rumblings of new Titleist irons

I hit both standard and half inch longer and my numbers were slightly better with longer. Not necessarily my distance numbers. My ideal path numbers. I'm not sure I'll add the extra 1/2 inch yet. I want to get some coaching first before I order. Need to get shallower. I was very shallow last year, d...

Re: Pre-Release (g)rumblings of new Titleist irons

Just got fit. Man I suck when I need to perform for the launch monitor. I am far better on a golf course. Either way, I identified some swing flaws, which I need to fix. Now! Actually, the launch monitor identified them. I thought my swing was perfectly fine beforehand. The Titleist T200s will be in...

Re: Pre-Release (g)rumblings of new Titleist irons

Well, I have learned to accept the look of the new T200s. Actually, in person, they look a thousand percent better. I am still not a fan of the Max Impact stamp. The good news is, it is only on the 7-4 irons. It is not part of the wedge-8 iron back design, thankfully. In fact, the new T200 heads are...

Re: Post your pics of the courses you play

I swear I posted this one on here before, but I don't see it anywhere, so maybe I posted it elsewhere. In any case, this is the tee shot on the par 5, 9th at Worthington. It's a forced carry of anywhere between 180-210 just to reach the fairway over those wetlands that you can see out ahead of the t...

Re: Post your pics of the courses you play

This is one of the easier holes on WM (#14 handicap), the 346 yd, slightly uphill with water right, par 4 10th. I'm waiting to make my 85 yard approach shot, as the sky darkens and a thunderstorm is rolling in quickly. Anything other than par or less on this hole is unacceptable (but happens more of...

Re: My swing issue

Agree with the video. I find when I align my shoulders, hips and feet, all slightly closed to the target line, I hit my best drives. As far as other clubs go, I typically set up that way anyway, so don't have to think about it. But with driver, trying to get some tilt and making sure my head behind ...

Re: 2019 summer support group

My wife has had a lot of elbow issues as I have recently (Tennis elbow from playing tennis - doesn't hurt to golf). You need to do the following: Give it a complete rest for 1-2 weeks and probably cut back after that for a few more weeks. Find some exercises / stretches on the internet and do them ...
