Re: Random golf thoughts

Just discovered this golf course profile on youtube. This is where I play most of the time. :puke Wow, I watched the whole video. The place itself looks nice, but man, that was a lot of New York accents and ugly swings. I knew none of the guys in the video were you, Beef, just by the fact that ther...

Re: 2018 PGA Tour Thread

He's striking the ball well overall. The course got him a few times with the excessive, closely mown areas around the greens and the nearly unplayable rough. Some of his bad shots were only off by a yard or two. Putting killed him. Again. He did not look bad otherwise. Many other very good players d...

Re: 2018 PGA Tour Thread

Loving it so far. Makes me feel better about the rough I had to deal with at WM a few weeks back. It was unplayable, but at least I had fairways that were a lot more findable and greens that were still healing (and somewhat slow) from aeration. Between the wind and rough at Shinnecock today, I would...

Re: Short Putts

I do put the data into SkyGolf as I don't consider the SG handicap as my real one. I do the same as you. It's why my SG360 handicap presently shows 6.4, when my official index is over 7, and probably going up a tenth or two of a stroke on Friday when the updates come out. I count everything for my ...

Re: Short Putts

Here is my question to you. When you are playing a non-competitive, non-tournament round of golf, and your ball comes to rest within four feet of the hole... how do you proceed and how do you justify the behavior? Playing with a regular golf buddy, we do not give 3 or 4 footers to each other, since...

Re: WTF did you buy today?

I have 3 pair of Sports in my rotation, though they are not used nearly as much as my DryJoys. The three pairs I have are white w/green trim, w/blue trim and w/silver trim. They are not the most recent model. I think they are from 2015. They are very comfortable. I wear them with shorts sometimes, b...

Re: WTF did you buy today?

I didn't buy anything today, but I wanted to come back to the FootJoy conversation from a week or so ago. After some heavy rain a couple weeks back, I was wearing my pair of white w/white gator Footjoy Dryjoys. I got these shoes for Christmas of 2016. They are my favorite pair of about 8 or 9 pairs ...

Re: WTF did you buy today?

I used to have a 910H 4 hybrid. Very nice club. Accurate. I think I sold mine on Ebay a few years back for about 50 bucks. Hope you got a good deal.

Re: The Tiger Thread

Obviously, I'm rooting hard for Tiger, but this week, if it's not in the cards for him---and I know this will grind your gears Beef---but, I really want Phil to get a US Open on his resume. Were it not for Tiger, he would have been the best of the era to play the game. Frankly, I feel his accomplish...

Re: WTF did you buy today?

I know, this sounds like a crappy gift, but my wife got me 30 Golf Pride MCC New Decade grips last Christmas. I specifically asked for them since I go through so many grips each year. When you think about it, at 11 bucks each, it's really not a bad gift at all. I still have about 10 or 12 left. I'll...

Interacting with Your Playing Partners

How much do you like interacting with your playing partners during a round of which you plan to play seriously, not casually, and post the score to your GHIN index? I am having a problem lately with some of my friendly playing partners who know me well enough personally to feel like they can talk to...

Re: 2018 summer support group

I'm not sure if this is the best thread to throw this in, but I didn't want to start a new thread for it. About a month ago, I bought a new Titleist 818H1 19* hybrid to replace two clubs in my bag at the time, a 915F 5W and an 816H1 21* hybrid. I fell in love with the new 818H immediately and have n...

Re: Random golf thoughts

I don't know how that's helpful, but I would certainly be asking the superintendent for some explanation. Maybe I'm missing something and he can enlighten me. But based on your description, I don't see the point, other than which side of the fairway to play to off the tee if there is not a clear ind...

Re: WTF did you buy today?

BTW, just checked Ebay. There are all sorts and styles of new/in box Contours for sale from last season. Some pretty cheap. Also, there are a few DryJoys Tour for sale as well, new, last season models for as little $99, but it is hit or miss with sizes.

Re: WTF did you buy today?

How about a pair of DryJoy Tours from last year? I presently have 4 or 5 pairs of Dryjoy Tours. Have been wearing them as my primary shoe for years. They are expensive, but worth it. Very comfortable, classic styling, 2 year waterproof warranty, and in my opinion, the best looking traditional style ...

Re: Bawlz

Now, since you have some AVX in hand, I highly recommend you try them out where they really show a distance (edit, oops, freudian slip) difference. In real life on a real course in real wind. If you don't see a difference, then as you say, play whichever ball makes you feel more confident. But, I be...

Re: What's in your bag?

Okay, it's a over a year since we posted our bags. Time for an update. Only my AP2-716s and Scotty putter were not changed in some way (other than regripping)....at least, not yet. But I do plan to reshaft the AP2s soon. AS OF 6/5/18: Titleist 917 D2 with Diamana 60 x5 Blueboard Stiff (Upgraded from...

Never. Can't stand TM. Not due to their equipment. Of all the companies who make bullshit marketing claims, TM has the Trumpiest. They also take major advantage of their retailers. Long story I don't want to get into now, but the bottom line is that I don't like the brand, not the quality of the pro...

Re: 2018 LPGA thread

Ariya is a very impressive, exceptionally powerful young golfer. I knew it last year when I picked her virtually every week in our dumb fantasy league and I think she will be a regular contender nearly every week (and frequent winner) for years to come. From my perspective, it doesn't hurt that she ...

Re: Bawlz

Not sure what they mean by penetrating ball flight but I did hit one 7i into a breeze that it seemed the wind didn't matter. Exactly. Wait until the courses dry out. You will see better distance partially as a result of the penetrating flight. It's hard to see the advantage in wet conditions now, b...

Re: 2018 LPGA thread

Also wtf Usga? A 2 hole aggregate and you just play 18 both times? What a load of shit that is. At least pick 2 consecutive holes so there isn't a long break between #1 and 2 with the players being carted back. Actually, the aggregate two-hole playoff was played on separate holes, 14 and 18. After ...

Re: 2018 LPGA thread

ARIYA! :yess She didn't make it easy on herself, but prevails in the end. Awesome bunker shot of the 4th playoff hole to win after having a 7 stroke lead at the turn. What a collapse, but she pulled it out in the end. Phew! I liked the result 100Xs as much as the Memorial. One of my favorites wins t...
