Re: 2019 PGA Championship at Bethpage Black

I guess there is still a golf tournament going on up there in LI. Wonder if anyone's watching now that the big cat is no longer in it.

If Danny Lee can mount a charge tomorrow I'll stay tuned. Otherwise I am out. :up
WTF? What if 5-time Masters Champion Tiger mounts a charge?

I guess they are playing preferred lies? Is it that wet? If so the rough is probably even more brutal than normal.
Are they, or was Molinari's ball plugged? He dropped from knee height, so I don't think it's LCP.

Re: Spring 2019 Golf

Got in some good golfin' today. Been playin well lately, though not scorin' all that great. Course is playing tough--US Open Qualifier tough--and the greens are still not healed, but I am hitting the ball well, just the same. Played 18, came in afterward, around 2, had lunch, then drove home. I real...

Re: Random golf news

I take it that you decided against offering your services. I didn't decide against it. I let them know in the pro shop that I was available, but no one was looking. One guy I'm quite friendly with who is a member and carries his own bag when he plays (nearly everyday), has been looping for competit...

True, but an Am MUST have 1.4 index or lower.
And, FWIW, the pros playing today all seem to be better than your average PGA teaching professional, at least the ones I saw. Some big names (as pros in the area go.)

Re: Random golf news

The US Open Qualifier is still going on with only the morning tee times finishing so far. Based on that half of the field, the scores prove, once again, that Worthington Manor is a tough-ass track. There are about 120 actually playing. (The field was 130, but about 10 withdrew or DNS.) The highest h...

Yes, been watching for a few weeks now. James is amazing. Pushing close to 2 million in winnings. He's a freak of nature.

It's what fits your eye. Consciously or subconsciously, you are more comfortable playing one nine more than the other. It could be for any number of reasons, none of which might be necessarily obvious.

Re: Random golf thoughts

I'd put my money on a wet ball. I have seen wet balls die in mid flight on many occasions, as well as change direction.

Re: Remember the Wedge Guy from Oob?

From the looks of the comments section beneath his WRX columns, it appears Terry is being received about as well as he was back on Oob. Poor guy. From being pushed out as the CEO of Ben Hogan Golf, to writing articles on a site where everyone thinks they are one tick short of a Touring Pro, he's goi...

Re: Random golf thoughts

Nine holes feel partial and incomplete to me almost every time. If I lived next to a golf course I'd probably feel different though. You would. I do. I practice on the days I don't play, sometimes spending an hour or two playing 3 or 4 holes with many balls from different lies. Obviously, being a f...

Re: Random golf news

Good question. But that shouldn't be a problem. From what I saw out there on the range and on the course today, there were a LOT of Titleist bags. I suppose I will have to be very discerning in who I PICK to loop for. ;)

Re: Random golf news

US Open Qualifier at Worthington Manor next Tuesday. The place was packed today with competitors out practicing and learning the course. I am thinking I may offer my caddie services to someone who could use the local knowledge. For the right price.

Re: Spring 2019 Golf

I got in 20 rounds of golf and lots of practice time out on the course as well in April, bringing my total for 2019 up to 48 rounds, so far. My fingers are all cracked and need to be taped daily; shoulders are sore and need ice daily; tendonitis is still bothering both elbows, but I'm only wearing a...

Re: WTF did you shoot today?

I work my shoulders, back and hips everyday, with a full set of golf-specific yoga and other stretching exercises. It really helps keep me playing decent golf. But, sometimes, I do get overuse pain and need to take a day or two, or three off. When I swing well, the pain is on my left side, either sh...

Re: Random golf news

Welp, I was totally misinformed about the Annika connection. Actually, I jumped to conclusions, no one gave me false information. Annika Sorenstam may or may not have noticed Faith, but that still remains to be seen. Turns out, the Aneka I overheard being mentioned was Faith's four-ball partner. I s...

Well, couple of inches of snow expected tonight. Should be pretty tomorrow morning. :puke
That REALLY sucks. I guess I shouldn't complain about the 20-25 mph wind we had yesterday, since it was 65 and sunny.....with no snow.
