Re: Who is going to watch Tiger vs Phil?

Love Tiger---and really like Phil---but, not that interested. It means nothing. Doesn't matter who wins. It doesn't settle anything. Not that there's anything to settle. Tiger settled everything already. It's not like Ali/Frazier, or Leonard/Duran. Those guys were evenly matched their whole careers....

Re: 2018 Fall Support Group

We ended up with 4-5 inches. It has turned to sleet and there is rain mixed in too. Not sure how this is going to melt in time for the weekend. It's a mess now, and more snow than expected. The rain and sleet isn't strong enough to eat away the snow, so all it is doing is making 4-5 inches of heavy ...

3 inches and snowing heavily still. I have a Sunday tee time. I was also planning to do my final mowing Saturday. I hate snow. Maybe you're right Matt, further South.

Beef, this is coming your way. Jus' sayin.

Re: Cold Weather and Hands

Jesus Doug I am sorry to hear that. If I get even one split my whole world is wrecked. Have you ever worked with aloe vera, specifically in gel form? I use it for a number of things one of them is dry hands. Not so sure about the moisturizing properties per se, but I believe it--better than any oth...

Re: WTF did you buy today?

That, I just don’t understand. Not saying you’re crazy Doug, but I don’t get it at all. Nope, I'm crazy. No doubt about that. Frankly, up until recently, I could not understand why anyone would spend hundreds of dollars on a putter head cover either. Then, somewhere along the line, I must have inad...

Re: Cold Weather and Hands

My hands are already split in many places. Mostly on fingers. I wore two gloves today. It was 45 degrees. Moisturizer doesn't work. I have to soak them in some moisturizing crap my wife has for hours every few nights, and/or squirt moisturizer into the fingers of nitrile gloves, which I then wear to...

Re: WTF did you buy today?

Don't get me started on head covers. My Scotty original 2015 cover is starting to lose its velcro clasping ability and the seam has also started to split. After removing and replacing the cover on the head of my Newport 2, probably over 10,000 times on, and 10,000 times off, over the last 3 years, I...

Still dreaming of a Scotty - maybe when I turn 55 next year. Maybe Titleist has a senior discount.
Mine was retailing at $399, plus tax, back in 2015. I was a senior AND a member of Team Titleist. I got a great deal. It cost me $399, plus tax. :facepalm

Re: WTF did you buy today?

That tightening device is the Boa feature. If you want to feel like you are in a ski boot that was custom fit, the Boa option is a good idea. However, the pump looks kinda silly to me. I don't have that feature on any of my shoes. I fit nicely into a plain old 11M Footjoy, no matter which model. Som...

Re: WTF did you buy today?

I will assume you want a model with cleats. Not one of the more sneakery looking designs. If I'm wrong about that then I can suggest those from what I know, but not as much from experience. I only wear spiked golf shoes. The kind that can be re-spiked. There are a bunch of different DryJoys Tour ava...

Re: 2018 Fall Support Group

It's been nearly two weeks since I was interested in playing golf, or shot a decent score. Yes, I have played 5 or 6 times over the period, but have not really been all that excited about it. It seems I'm in another golf funk. Been playing like crap and for some reason, don't seem to care all that m...

Re: When will DougE pass bkuehn1952?

I've been playing 3 or 4 days a week or more. (19 rounds in October.) Not posting much though. Bored with SG360 ever since I lost the option to post more specific stats when my subscription was up a few months back. Fairways, greens and putts are all I can track now. Since I keep my official scores ...

Re: Bunker Play

It depends on the sand. If it's somewhat firm, I would play it exactly as if I were hitting a pitch from a fairway. Trap the ball, don't try to pick it. This will usually work unless the sand is so soft that when you trap the ball, it digs in deeper. I will typically swing a touch more aggressively,...

Re: WTF did you shoot today?

The reason this is so memorable is that for years it was the only bunker shot I ever holed. Still have only done it 3 times - not a strength of my game. I am tied with you at three :facepalm Considering the number of years playing and the volume of rounds, 3 is pretty pathetic for me. I've holed a ...

Re: The New 2019 Rules

Another one I didn't include, mostly because it is only a "recommendation" is the 40-second time span in which to hit the ball. I foresee that one getting ugly on a busy golf course. I wouldn't be surprised if guys like Beef start carrying stopwatches and air horns in their bags. I picture him stand...

I think intentionally testing a bunker or hazard should have been sacred....
You still can't touch the ground or test the sand in a bunker, but you now can in a designated penalty area (no longer called water hazards).

Re: The New 2019 Rules

I agree with the part about making the game easier, particularly in some cases. However I disagree that they aren't easier to understand---or at least, will be---once you get more used to them. Some things are different than they were. Yes, you have to learn the new rules, which initially may seem l...

Re: The New 2019 Rules

Also, is it possible the PGA tour implements a local rule not allowing you to leave it in when you are on the green (I don't know if this is even possible). Though the rule is not technically written to allow for local rules, as, say for instance, the alternative to stroke and distance for lost bal...

Re: The New 2019 Rules

You didn't allow voting for my favorite new rule which is handling of OB/Lost ball by dropping in fairway with penalty. Yes, you are right, I did not include this rule.....but I meant to. Somehow I forgot it. It should have been included. I think it's a good way to satisfy the crowd on a busy golf ...

The New 2019 Rules

Though the above selections are just the tip of the iceberg as far as new rules changes go this time around, many of these are likely to affect us regularly. There are some I really like and others I don't care about one way or another. I like the new drop from knee height change. Much easier to con...
