Re: When are you going to retire?

Which raises the question, "Would you want to know the year you were going to die?" It certainly would make retirement planning a bit easier. It would be easy to decide whether to take Social Security at 62, full retirement age or wait until 70. Unfortunately, some people do know (not thinking of a...

Re: WTF did you shoot today?

I'll do that, thanks. That, and make sure you preset your wait forward for those chips. This is so you catch the back the ball and don't have to make any kind of weight transfer, which would be a difficult thing to time on such a short shot (the club is not going back parallel to the ground in the ...

Re: '19-'20 Winter Support Group Thread

There was some sort of icy glaze on the fairways. That's called frost . :lolz You California guys crack me up! I knew that. Heck. we have days with frost delays once in a while here, and when you show up at 11:00 for your tee time, there is still 5 groups ahead of you that couldn't start on time, b...

Re: The Grumble Thread

Against my better judgement I went out with my regular Friday group today (Black Friday) and what a clusterf*ck it was! We had the first twighlight tee time, which is also the first one when you are not getting raped with the green fees. I paid $33 to walk (instead of $28 on a regular Friday), so no...

I would not have asked to play through, I would have just gotten on the tee saying: "I am playing through". That is insane to have 3 players on the whole course and have to play behind these two!

I am spellbound by Ken Burns's "Country Music" documentary on PBS. I am not even really a fan of country music. However its origin is one of the most beautiful fantastic tales I have ever heard and reaffirms my belief that music is a divine gift and a pure language of the soul. Also that Ken Burns ...

Turncoat that I am, I was cheering for the Euros to spank the USA. Mission accomplished. All looked to be lost when Europe had to take the last three matches outright in order to win. Nice ending for Europe and Suzann Pettersen. Ditto! But, I am originally European, so not completely a turncoat, ah...

Re: 2019 summer support group

DougE I feel I am on the same path as you, or maybe not. I was doing good on the front today (+2) with 2 bogeys on the tough last 2 holes of the front nine, then got par on a ho-hum par 5 after a good drive with the driver, and after that I couldn't drive to save my life for 5-6 holes. Left, right,...

Nadal's going to cruise to the title. There will be hardly time for butt picking. And Serena Williams is going to choke away another final. There's your 2019 US Open of Tennis. Or as Howard Stern liked to refer to it, the US Open Sores. #fts Well, at least half of that bold prediction came true! Yo...

No problems Doug, although if you want geek like banter I'm not qualified, but I'll always read your musings. Re: Incomplete Rounds

Well done but you don’t need to post an ESC score on a hole not played. Instead it’s par + handicap strokes; or the gross score that gives you a net par. So, instead of a double bogey it would be a bogey on that #1 handicap hole. Also, you need to play only 7 holes for a 9 to be postable and 13 hole...

@ DougE give it (the elbow) a rest, will you? Nice one bkuehn1952 ! I had a good one myself today. It's an easier course and I play with some old guys (well, they are older than me!) from the white tees, and it's par 70. But I shot a nice 72 (2 over), with 11 GIRs, 12 pars, 2 birdies and 4 bogeys. The round also included a shanked chip, a 3-put...

The polo shirt is the sartorial equivalent of the mullet hairstyle. An attempt to combine business and casual wear into one convenient item.
