Re: The Tiger Thread

It sure was fun to watch! Think about it: another half inch for that putt to fall in and a little less pace for that putt to not lip out and we are talking about a playoff, even wih the drive on 17 and all the missed fairways. That's pretty incredible.

Re: 2018 summer support group

Maybe I come off like an old woman, but hey, I am still getting carded when I buy beer. That's because this old woman doesn't have a leathery face from habitually going out and standing in the summer sun for five plus hours at a time, waiting to hit golf shots. Yeah, I still get carded too. But not...

This was a hell of an 8i. 168 carry big high draw.

I think I need a new net lol
Did the ball go thru the net or over it, lol? Impressive!! :rofl

Re: Poison Ivy - What would you do?

I've gotten it once, playing golf and it's not fun. It would definitely be an unplayable for me, assuming 2 club lengths is enough relief. Going inline with the flag usually doesn't work in this situation: it only gets you deeper in the woods...

Brian, that is impressive at that yardage. Actually, that is impressive in tournament play at any yardage. You've got my respect. Well done.
My thoughts exactly. Well done!

Ouch! Who knew? The place looks so nice, and tough, but inviting somehow... I can't fault you for having this reaction, especially to the trip back to the city after a long day of walking in the heat without enough water. Rest up and feel better.

Anybody watching today? 31 under par (so far) is just freaking insane! Even when the top 30+ players are -13 or better... One more and she'll average 8 under par, per day, over 4 days! And "she" is someone I have never heard of: unreal... ETA: She didn't get any deeper than -31, but no matter, it is...

Well done Doug! We knew we could count on you. Today i tried walking in 95F weather and after a false start (where they squeezed me as a single between foursomes, the front one being so slow that I managed to walk by them along the second hole and get back to the pro shop before they got even remote...

Re: WTF did you shoot today?

I scored 74 (+4) today, with 13 pars, 1 birdie, 3 bogeys (including a 3-putt GIR) and a double: 3.8 differential. Probably one of my best round ever, especially with the short game. But the most surprising thing to me is that my handicap index is dropping like a rock: it's going to be 7.2 on the 1st...

Re: How to start the downswing?

For me, it's a small hip slide/bump to the left, followed by the hip turn (while the slide continues, moving the weight forward). I am completely passive with the arms, I think: they just follow. A long time ago, before I had any real idea of how to swing, I always started with the arms, but it was ...

Re: 2018 summer support group

I'm in another funk. Too much golf I think. (12 of the last 14 days.) Starting to make some sloppy swings. Thin iron shots. Partially skulled a flop yesterday. Lost driver consistency and distance. Confidence falling. Too many freakin' people out there. Lots of waiting and rhythm breaking. The mid-...

Re: 2018 summer support group

Hearing about other people's summer funk makes me feel better. I am the opposite. Summer is the best time for golf, so it saddens me to hear it is not the best time for you. I personally am playing the best golf of my life right now, with only 2 rounds in the 80s (80 and 81) in the dozen of rounds ...

Re: 2018 PGA Tour Thread

The rule 14-5, like most rules, is not based on intent, just on an objective fact: hitting a moving ball results in 2 strokes. Simple.

Re: 2018 PGA Tour Thread

I disagree Mr Fish. The rule 14-5 says: ... must not make a stroke at a moving ball. Penalty is 2 strokes. It couldn't be more clear. The caveat in there is the part about see rule 1-2 for a ball purposely stopped or deflected by player or caddie. EXCEPT that rule 1-2 explicitly says if there is any...

Re: 2018 PGA Tour Thread

I think an even smarter move was to let the ball trickle off the green in whatever "impossible" spot and call an unplayable. It's only 1 stroke penalty, not 2. Then retry the original putt, this time knowing how fast it really is. That said, i don't object to his move or the USGA decision to not DQ....

Understood. The benefit the first time is to not have to deal with solvent and to be able to do it simply, without paying someone (at the expense of a bit of time to clean the old situation up).

I use my electric tire pump that plugs into my cigarette lighter in my truck. An air compressor is over kill and will probably cause a higher likelihood of damaging the grip.

The tire pump was $25 so break even is about 8 grips.
Thanks! Good tip. I may have to look into getting one of those.
