Re: 2018 PGA Tour Thread

Phil has been racking up top 5's; i'd actually like to watch him now. Also, he'll have his brother on his bag playing the lefty friendly Augusta National in 50 days. That sounds like drama and excitement right there. I'd much rather here about that than much else right now.

Re: 2018 PGA Tour Thread

I like Phil (and i don't DIS-like Tiger). But, i'd rather see the leaders right now, or the young guns on tour. I want to see JT, Ollie, DJ; the guys that are peaking right now. I don't really want to watch Phil or Tiger (or anyone for that matter) struggling to make the cut on a Friday afternoon.

Re: 2018 PGA Tour Thread

You're right, fandom is what it is. I guess i'm just really over this circle jerk every time this declining golfer hits a green in regulation. Just wait until he hits a fairway with his driver. :lolz Haha! Won't matter if it's his fairway or an adjacent one, he'll be the favorite for the 2018 Maste...

Re: 2018 PGA Tour Thread

You're really comparing the commotion that comes along with Phil entering a tournament to that of Tiger? Come on.

Re: 2018 PGA Tour Thread

Like i've said before, people need to temper their expectations. He's not the same golfer he was 10 years ago. No they don't. We are talking about sports fandom. Not exactly a bastion of realism and rational thought. Tiger, started to decline in 2009. Still did lots of good stuff as a declining gol...

Re: 2018 PGA Tour Thread

Oh, i still don't THINK he'll win again, but there's a chance. However, i also think there's a BETTER chance of him mis-firing a glut and re-injuring himself. Like i've said before, people need to temper their expectations. He's not the same golfer he was 10 years ago.

Re: 2018 PGA Tour Thread

I'm going with 'he won't be elite again.' He may chalk up a couple more wins, but i really don't think he'll ever get another major. He's not going to play forever (i hope) we all agree on that, and i believe the decline began with the (recent-ish) injuries, surgeries, and swing changes. Just my 2 c...

Re: Driver Confessions

He did ask for input, and we are just trying to help by keeping it simple. If driver is a weakness in your game, maybe dial back a little and stop trying to work the ball both ways. Take the drive you naturally hit and work on that. I don't know many people (including those far better than me) that ...

Re: Driver Confessions

I'm with you. I cut the ball, and feel pretty comfortable no matter where the hazard is that i can keep it in play. If a hazard on the right is really going to deter a driver that cuts, then i'll go 3w or hybrid. There's no way i'm going to attempt a draw with driver on one hole per course if it's j...

Re: Driver Confessions

I'm a big fan of playing one ball flight with driver. It's very rare that a course will prevent you from hitting one shot more than once. Yes splitting it does help, but I was once told (by a former PGA tour pro) "only 10 guys in the world are good enough to move driver both ways consistantly, are ...

Pretty sure he's the least liked guy in the clubhouse because he seems to be a real asshole; just my guess though.

Re: The Tiger Thread

I knew i was in the minority, but never thought the guys on tour were that terrible to watch. I’ll bow out now and quietly root for the guys with human names. Besides Bubba, I’d never root for him. F him.

Re: The Tiger Thread

It's ok to love Tiger and want to watch his every swing, but come on, it's also OK to appreciate what he did and look forward to the guys that will chase his legacy. We all have our favorites, but to me, seeing Anthony Kim come back to compete on the PGA would be exponentially more exciting! (Only s...

Re: The Tiger Thread

I think for me, expectations need to be tempered. He sprays his driver all over California this weekend and it's amazing that he is 'finally pain free and free swinging,' yada-yada-yada...then he stiffs a 6i on a par 3 and the O faces come out and 'Tiger is back; the field should head home now!' (ob...

Re: The Tiger Thread

Maybe he'll win again, maybe not, i'm fine either way. But the BS media attention that comes with every swing and every return has worn thin (and i know it's not his fault). It's like the golfing world thinks he'll play and win forever. It may be time now (or at least soon) to move on. There may nev...

Re: The Tiger Thread

Yet, there are still some of us that think it's all over anyway. I'm sure he'll compete for a while, but i don't have any expectations that he'll be threatening a win anytime soon, especially a major.

carded a 9
I thought I was the only one here who makes numbers that big.
It's been a while for me to shoot something this bad, but i still have a hard time getting through 18 without at least a double.

Re: WTF did you shoot today?

Got out Saturday with temps in the mid 50's. It was a pretty good round with one of the worst blowup holes i've had in years. On the front 9, i was +1 through 7 then carded a 9 on a very straightforward par 5 (hooked tee ball into a river, very bad idea to try a 3 wood from the drop and topped it ac...

It was the players ... Sampras, McEnroe, Conners, Agassi, et al, not the network.
This is the tennis i remember, and it was awesome. Agassi was always my favorite. But right behind his was McEnroe; I still don't think anyone can touch him in doubles.

2018 Goals

Here we go...January golf has officially begun; the 2018 season is underway. I'm usually not one to really state concrete goals for better or for worse. I've proceeded to get better every year, and played some awesome courses. Last time i was a double digit handicap was August of 2016, and i'm curre...

Re: January Golf!

Managed to get out this weekend in over a month with highs in the 60's. The range was closed which was disappointing. So i chipped for a bit and headed to the first tee with my partner. I had absolutely no expectations for this round, so bagged a few beers and went out to have fun and just get to sw...
