Re: When are you going to retire?

I think that retirement means something different to everyone. Me personally I'm trying to retire on my 40th birthday. But I'll continue working and learning until the day I die, which I hope will be another 50+ years. To me retirement is synonymous with financial independence. Once I get to a point...

You can get it done for sub $3k and the resale value is $1300 if you don't include selling the mat/net.

Re: Simulator for sale

A group of us at work might go in on one for the new training space at our new office. I say go for it. It was easily worth the net out of pocket money for the 18 months I used it. It was really fun. I'd just invest in a really good mat if I did it again. Tendinitis was a real issue, and I'd only b...

Re: Simulator for sale

jfurr yes it would take me about 5-10 min to set up/take down. It is sensitive to light. More light is better, I don't know about "glare" though. If I did struggle with lighting issues I'd just plug in my portable work lamp which is bright as hell then shine that where the ball goes. But I've seen ...

I really enjoyed 3/14/15 9:26:53

I actually asked my wife to wait until 3/14/15 to get married so we could have wedding pie instead of cake. Somehow she still married me on 11/4/11.

Re: '19-'20 Winter Support Group Thread

Welp, as expected, the masses showed up yesterday for the 65-degree, sun-filled day. It was mobbed. I had originally booked a tee time, but my two partners couldn't make it. (They didn't miss any fun golf. Just a nice day.) So I cancelled it to let the course fill another foursome in. Instead, I wa...

Re: 2020 LPGA/PGATOUR thread

I would hope that all high-level golf tournaments have a pre-planned playoff format and that they don't just decide what to do on the spot based on wherever TV equipment happens to be. :puke What I'm saying is I think that pre-planning takes equipment into account. Which makes it less likely to dev...

Re: My swing issue

DougE How dare you disagree with me. But, you are probably right, you have a lot more experience than me. My experience is based on limited play/practice, so it's easier for inefficiencies to creep in causing things like ball position, and mental blocks to create swing differences that cause proble...

Re: My swing issue

Played yesterday. Good news is I hit some of the best iron shots in recent memory including the best 4i I've ever hit. Long irons and hybrid were particularly good. Unfortunately the driver sucked, usually my only strength and also had my worst putting day in at least 6 years. Golf is a bit like wh...

That is a good way to look at this situation and similar ones.

Re: '19-'20 Winter Support Group Thread

My dad played bayhill the day I was born. I was born around 4am he had an 8:30 tee time (was a member there then). At 7 both my mom and I were sleeping so he just headed out with his brother to play. When he told me that story my wife was sitting next to me and 8 months pregnant. She gave me a look ...

My issue with the USGA is they've made a ton of really stupid decisions over the last 5-10 years. They seem to make decisions on an emotional level and not a fact based level.

Someone should ask them for a copy of their 990 return (as a non-profit they are obligated to give it to you if you ask). I'll run through it and see if there is any dirt. It should indicate lots of things, like where the money goes, who is getting paid how much, and a few other things. I use to fil...

Re: Stocks, Mutual Funds or ETF's? Hedge Funds? Real Estate - Where Do You Invest?

One thing I've seen happening recently is a war on fees. This is ok as long as people are looking at the fund results as well, but a lot of people aren't. They just hear that low fees are better. There is a popular 0 fee etf out there. The way the fund company makes money is that in the fine print i...
