Re: Severe downhill lie to a distant uphill target

I've never been able to accomplish a fade (or slice) when my feet are above the ball. Actually that is one of the big misconceptions of the golf swing. The ball below your feet generally doesn't cause the ball to fade more than your normal swing. It's easier to explain the physics with a visual but...

Re: WTF did you shoot today?

As a group that is 3 balls landing within a foot of the hole.

The 6i from 149 last week into a stiff wind. I pushed it a little.

Re: WTF did you shoot today?

If you are ever in the south Eastern Virginia area let me know I can take off work and play anytime with a week or so of notice (well crazy work stuff permitting).

That really goes for everyone on the site.

Re: WTF did you shoot today?

So I'm rusty and made some bad mistakes that cost me. I shot 82 but hit the ball so much better than that. On the 5 holes I normally hit 3w off the tee I was 8 over par, to be fair one of them I still hit a 250 yard 3w into the FW on. The wind was crazy. On hole 6 it was down wind and 290 to the wat...

Re: WTF did you shoot today?

So after starting +5 through 4 I birdied #5 then hit this 6i dead into a stiff wind from 149 on #6.

Re: The Presidents Cup 2017

Wow I'm not usually a fan of someone getting blown out, but I'm hoping the US wins all 4 afternoon matches and closes this out. Just because I'd want to see what happens. But I suspect that they have been told that the sponsors wouldn't be happy with that and they need to make sure they don't get 3....

Re: The Presidents Cup 2017

So I know the US needs 7 points from 8 matches tomorrow but what happens if mathematically it's over after Saturday?

Do they all just get shitfaced and stoned and play out the Sunday round? Does Phil put right handed clubs in his bag for Sunday?

Re: golf is hard

I'm very accustomed to these "bad situations" but I will still get angry over blowup scores, like to the point where I wish I could push a button and detonate the entire planet or whatever. It's all part of the fun. Well I hope that Trump doesn't take his golf that seriously, because he D...

Re: golf is hard

I think it's more due to getting money for sponsorship on the bag, than to piss off your caddy.

The USGA allows this in almost all of it's tournaments. I know for US Open qualifying (both regional and sectional) the caddies can use push carts. I'm not sure if they can in the US Open or not.

Re: golf is hard

Great now I'm going to feel like I'm cheating when I use my push cart this weekend. I admire those of you that carry your bags, physically I could get around 18 holes but I know from experience those last 4 really kick my ass and I can't swing the club like I want to. Even on a flat course. Throw in...

Re: Post your pics of the courses you play

BTW I love using google maps on courses I play. It allows me to pick lines off tee boxes and get a good understanding of carry distances for certain items.

Re: Post your pics of the courses you play

Looks like a fun hole. I like holes that give you options. Anyways I looked it up on google maps, assuming I picked the right tee box from the very back edge of the 2nd to last tee box it's 238 to carry the bunker, my normal carry is around 250. At about 250 yards from that tee box the FW is a littl...

Re: Post your pics of the courses you play

I like your description of the hole above, but based on the picture I already know how this would work in my head if I were on that tee box. As it looks like after that tree it's down hill to the green I'm 99% sure my first thought is "how far is it to carry the tree and what is on the other si...

Re: Post your pics of the courses you play

Doug,
I'd be interested in a photo (not necessarily from the tee box) & tutorial of each hole if you are bored one day. Not sure if others are as interested as I am though.

Re: Summer Support Group

I'm really not sure how I feel about golf right now. I have very minimal motivation to actually play right now. I love going to the range every morning and working on my swing and "mentally" playing golf. But the time commitment really prevents me from playing more on the weekends. My week...

Re: Summer Support Group

My favorite course in VA beach actually has a lot of women that play it. I think it's because their head teaching pro is a woman. But I couldn't ever figure out why it is my favorite course, as it isn't the nicest or the cheapest. It's the epitome of average all around. It's just the people are nice...

Re: Swinging an upside-down club

I'm not really doing it for speed training but the current science seems to favor using lighter-than-normal weighted implements over heavier. My understanding is that the speed training concept is to use slightly lighter weight, like something that weighs 85% of a normal club. Not excessively light...
