Re: First time to take your kids on the course?

The real only rules you should follow are.

1) Make sure your son is having fun
2) Make sure you aren't slowing anyone down behind you

And be fully willing to cut bait and head home (even if you are 2-3 holes in) if these rules are ever broken with out being able to be fixed easily.

Re: First time to take your kids on the course?

Here is the answer, it depends. Just take them out when ever you feel they are ready. My son is 5 and shows no interest in golf so I don't even see if he wants to hit balls. When I was 5 I was playing full 18 holes with my dad. That being said I he had me tee off from the red tees and if I didn't ge...

Re: WTF did you buy today?

I am thinking about buying a new golf glove. My current one is relatively new and I have a spare. Decisions, decisions. I buy the MG Golf ones where you actually get two. The "Tech" ones with the spandex in the knuckles. I have not pulled the trigger yet so technically I shouldn't be posting yet. L...

Or offshore yacht racing.
pretty sure any "hobby" the word "yacht" in it will be expensive compared to golf.

If you think golf is expensive don't take up fishing, specially saltwater.

I must say 13 clubs with no editing in 10 min. If I were JB Holmes it would be a 1 hour video.

Re: 2019 PGA Tour thread

I think it would be cool to try that. Does anyone know the yardage it was playing? I suspect a few of us could give Rory a run for his money. 3 of 13 is not particularly good, in my ignorant opinion. :school He said it was playing 150 I'm going to give it a try today or Monday. Will post results in...

Re: What Do You Carry in Your Pockets During a Round?

Besides, my swing is so finely tuned that if I didn't have the weight of 2 golf balls in my left pocket my swing would change by a few millimeters and my hook would become a slice. Oh crap I never thought of this. I'll now need to put tees and stuff in my pockets when I'm hitting balls at the house...

Re: 2018-2019 Winter Support Group

I like the strokes gained data and hope that they refine shot tracking to make it less intrusive. I felt I was at a point where I had gained enough information to make actionable changes in my game and so I stopped tracking. I felt I was a bit distracted during the round sometimes. I've used it lon...

Re: What Do You Carry in Your Pockets During a Round?

Some random number of tees, somewhere between 2 and 6 most of the time. A divot repair tool. A quarter, and a Myrtle Beach penny. The latter is new my son got it for me at Myrtle Beach this last summer because it had a golfer on it. It was one of those penny machines where it puts an image on the pe...

Yeah, I'm leaned towards beef too. To be fair it really hasn't been cold enough here to play a round in the 30s. When it's that cold it's been raining.

Re: Just Keep Swimming

I was reading a thread about putting at wrx. The person kept describing their putting issues and it sounded like they were describing my putting. Decent lag putter, but pretty terrible inside 15'. Miss too many 3-5' putts and don't really make many from 5-15' either. They talked about how they were...

In reality ...

Oh man GG is lame, it doesn't let you look up detailed stats on other people. I was looking for a way to see your stats Duke, and it just gives me some high level ones.

Re: 2018-2019 Winter Support Group

That is just for 1 round, which is pretty meaningless when looking at bigger picture of where you are better. Also short game is everything inside 100 yards. If you click on "insights" then "view insights" then "Approach the Green" you can see data on a more granular level. Example I hit 70% of shot...

Re: 2018-2019 Winter Support Group

If I had to put money on a shot to hit the green, I'd take 120 over 60 every day of the week. Do you have anything that keeps detailed stats? Like remaining distance to pin after each shot? If so I'd wager some money that this isn't true. It may feel that way, but I'd find it very hard to believe y...

2019 goals

So we've done this every year so far. For me my goal is nothing. That 96 I shot in the last round really killed all of my motivation to "play golf." Maybe I'm 12-18 months behind beef in the "learning" curve but I have no desire to go and attempt to post a score anymore. I enjoy hitting balls on my ...
