Re: 2018 Goals

likely wont be sharing the journey anymore as I feel my journey is changing paths. I'll see how this goes and circle back next year. Vaya con dios. Safe travels. :breaking I didn't mean I'm leaving the site. I'm just not going to be posting much in my "just keep swimming" thread. Hopefully there wi...

Re: February Golf.

I'm playing Saturday and it will be an incredibly slow round. I'm playing in the last tournament of the winter there is an odd number of groups so there will be one 2-some going out. Of course that is me and the guy I'm playing with. The problem is it's a shotgun start and he put us at the back of t...

Reduced flight balls closer than we think?

http://golfweek.com/2018/02/20/usga-mik ... golf-ball/

I'm not sure where I stand on this other than it will bring some great shorter courses back into major rotation. Also maybe they will quit building 8,000 yard courses and charging $150/round to play them?

Re: Handicap Changes on the way

I made the assumption that it's changing to the average of the best 8 of your last 20 rounds instead of 96% of the average of the best 10 of your last 20 rounds.

So not sure if the 96%... is going to still be done or not.

Re: Handicap Changes on the way

Ok so "net double bogey max" is that saying someone with a 36 handicap keeps playing until they are 4 over on any hole then they just pick up. Where as a scratch golfer would pick up after double? I read it as if it were saying double bogey is a max score for ESC purposes. If so I agree that makes m...

Re: Handicap Changes on the way

So not sure how you can be a 54 handicap with a double bogey max. Good observation. So, the realistic max now is what, around 36 give or take? Yeah my initial thought was 36-40 seemed like a max. I looked at the men's course ratings for some of the courses near me. Seems like the lowest I saw for a...

Re: Handicap Changes on the way

Wow, i didn't even know this was being talked about. I didn't "know" it was being discussed. But when the USGA said that you couldn't count solo rounds a year or 2 ago, I thought it was a pretty good indicator they were trying to narrow the gap in order to get the R&A and them to come to a single h...

Re: 2018 Goals

Ok so I've decided on some goals. My trending handicap is pretty awful (15.5 or 15 for last years rounds, depending on which of the handicap systems you use). I can't remember the last time it was this high. I've been working on my "golf swing" over the last year and not really working on my golf ga...

Handicap Changes on the way

So it looks like the USGA and R&A have come to an agreement and are proposing a World Handicap System. Here are the highlights that I've seen. I assume everything else stays the same (ie no solo rounds will count). -Minimum of 54 holes (9 or 18 hole rounds count) -Recreational or tournament rounds t...

Re: February Golf.

To be fair I still think 42 degrees in Florida is colder than 35 degrees in Nashville. Now in Virginia Beach it's the same wet air as Florida. So 35 is cold.

Doug I'm just pulling your leg. I don't thing mg balls are better than prov's. I just think the cost difference actually justify the quality difference.

Everything beef said. Although I use tape. But it's painters tape so I can build up a couple wraps. The best thing is I don't have to re-wrap it when I pull the old grip off.

Re: February Golf.

I'm working from home today and decided to go to the range on my lunch break because it is 76 and sunny outside. Ultimately it was a poor choice. I hadn't eaten anything since breakfast, and the ground was extremely wet. Those combined for me not feeling it very well. My muscles just weren't coopera...

Re: Just Keep Swimming

So I've been working on the pull hook issues I had over the last couple of weeks. After some review of everything I've concluded it's coming from a more vertical back swing which has me coming "over the top" in the downswing. But I'm coming OTT with a shut face. I've been fighting to get my back swi...

Re: Random youtube thread

Yeah I admit that has to be one of the more amazing things I've seen.

My dad texted me to state how amazing it was for him and he was an engineer on the original space shuttle back in the 80s. He mentioned that returning boosters like that was just a pipe dream back then.

Re: Membership opportunity at my club

I actually have trouble hitting indoors on a simulator, into a net. I don't swing the same way as I do on the course. There is a certain something lacking in the surroundings that affects my ability to swing freely. Not sure why. And I like to see what the ball actually does, not what a computer te...

Re: Driver Confessions

So to be clear to me the discussion isn't fade v. draw. I don't see a problem with either for anyone, both have benefits and I see that question as a personal one.

The discussion I brought up is both fade & draw v. either fade or draw.

But to be fair to GBOGEY I derailed his topic.
