Re: Things You Never Knew About The Great Lakes.....

I was wondering if someone was helping out a grand kid with a book report. Regardless, I've now got "The Wreck of the Edmund Fiztgerald" going through my head.

Re: When are you going to retire?

My goal has always been to retire in my early 60's, targeting 62, so that's not far away (I'm almost 56). However, I need to put away quite a lot of coin to do so. Mrs. Bogey wants me wants me to work much longer, thinks that it's healthier. I saw my dad and his brothers (we have strong family genes...

Re: WTF did you shoot today?

I’m with you Beef. Soggy here but bigger problem is high winds. Had probably my worst round at my home course. Felt totally incompetent. Unfortunately that’s three rounds in a row so disturbing trend. I’d like to blame the wind but the kind of bad shots I had today were nothing to do with wind.

Re: February Golf

2nd really crappy round in a row. Hoping I can blame February conditions. So muddy today they aren't allowing handicap flags on carts. For second straight round unforecast swirling strong winds - had 4-5 shots end up a good 20 yards short of what I would have expected. Only highlight of the round st...

Read it all the way!

Not putting my new SM7 into play until the real season starts in March. I'm a year behind, but got them on sale.

Re: '19-'20 Winter Support Group Thread

Between weekend rains and illness I only played twice during January which sucks compared to last year. However, the extended forecast is showing highs in the 50's for most of the next three weeks so training begins in earnest on Saturday (Mrs. Bogey is away, might be a day for 27). I've joined a lo...

Re: Bawlz

I have a strange relationship with my golf balls. I only want to play with one type of ball, Bridgestone RX, and only in yellow. I am very particular. That said, when I've tried other balls I've never been able to tell a real difference. I feel like I play better with the Bridgestones, but I can't p...

Re: My swing issue

I remember reading where one top instructor said the primary issue was ball position. If you are hitting your irons really well, or so he said, and not hitting your FW or Hybrid well, it was likely that the iron ball position was sneaking into your non-iron ball position. Sure this could influence t...

Re: '19-'20 Winter Support Group Thread

Played yesterday and I guess you could call it golf. After an inch of rain the three previous days course was as sloppy as I’ve played in. Then add +20 mph winds. Tough. But it was 60 degrees in January do what the hell.

Re: January Golf!

I've decided that the dividing line here around course busyness is golf turtlenecks - if it's cold enough to wear one, I have the course to myself. If it's warmer, then they are lots of golfers out there - these TN people don't seem to own turtlenecks like the ex-NJ person does. Close to 60 yesterda...

Re: January Golf!

Absolutely gorgeous here today, for January a stunning day. After 18 years in NJ, never even thought that courses would be open on New Years Day but they are. Alas, I wore my self out yesterday and made other plans. Today would have been a better day to play but who knew?

Re: December Golf!!!

Thanks - My 5th par 5 eagle. Even though it was from the senior tees, I feel like it was legit - 460 yards, two really solid shots to reach the green. The first eagle was same hole, but the tees were up some and the wind was so hard at my back that I hit Driver / 6i to reach the green - never have f...

Re: December Golf!!!

Almost didn't play today - it was a tad chillier than I prefer but then I thought, my friends in the North East would be jealous of these conditions. Actually turned out nicer than forecast - high winds but lots of sun so it felt more like 50. Solid round highlighted by an EAGLE. From the winter/sen...

Re: Pre-Release (g)rumblings of new Titleist irons

Got an email today that the SM7 have gone to clearance prices, ordering my Christmas present tonight. I put the new 48 degree in play today (the other two wedges will be held back until March when golf is more serious) in order to get used to it. Pleased to say I used it 5 times: 4 approaches and a...

Re: December Golf!!!

Rain was forecasted starting around noon, so went out at 8:30 and paired with another young man. We finished in a little less than 3 hours, he rode I walked. Rain at that point wasn't coming anytime soon and there was NO ONE near the tee box, so went out for another nine. Glad I did - first time aro...

Re: December Golf!!!

FWIW It popped up to +60 degrees this week. Played on Christmas Eve - course was about as slow as I have ever experienced it. Three foursomes in front of us playing some sort of family scramble. Hate to see how slow they would be if it wasn't a scramble. At least I was playing. Shooting for 3 more r...

Re: The Grumble Thread

Sorry to be posting but I'm grumpy. On eighth hole (toughest on the front) today I blasted my drive my drive. Never mind that I was playing up a tee due to winter golf, the drive was blasted. Hit a wedge to the green - "that should be really good" I said to myself the minute I hit it. Ended up 28 Y...

I'm not near as negative about the USGA as either of you guys and think as an organization they do more good than bad, but I was similarly offended by the email. Why an organization as rich in funds as the USGA would ask for additional donations is quite confusing and in poor taste.

Re: The Greatest PGA TOUR Champion of All-Time Greatest PGA TOUR Champion of All-Time Tiger Thread

I read a Butch Harmon interview a few years back where Butch talked about trying to convince Tiger to just put the ball in the fairway and that you're "the greatest iron player of all time so that's enough to win." The implication was that Tiger wanted to be the "baddest driver of all time" in addit...

Re: Describe Your Best Shot of the Month

Two shots come to my mind: 1. I chipped in / pitched in / wedged in from about 60 yards. Thinking about it it was probably the third longest shot I have holed. Thanks to a fubar drive, it was only for birdie. Of course in reality it was a pretty good but not great shot - just happened to roll in. 2....

There's a Woody Allen about how a rationalization is more important than sex. What's the longest time you've gone without sex? When's the last day you went without a rationalization.
