Re: Random golf thoughts

I'm always puzzled by golf logo wear on T-shirts. For example, I got an email just now for Footjoy highlighting some new T-Shirts. Why would I want golf logo wear that can't be worn at most golf courses?

Re: WTF did you buy today?

Scotty missed his first knee knocker. Then proceeded to make the next 2 along with putts of 10, 12, 12, and 20 feet the rest of the way. Going to stay in the bag.

Re: WTF did you buy today?

Can’t believe it but took the big leap today. Bought a new putter for my birthday. Yes, I went for the Scotty. Got to make some putts now.

Re: Best feeling in golf?

There are 7 choices and I easily could have picked 5 of them. Wouldn't lean to big drives or hitting a long club onto the green - I like to score! Regardless, there is something about hitting an iron pure. I had one near the end of my 3rd round of golf that started me down the road to obsession. Yes...

Re: Putting confessions

Putting is the most personal aspect of the game. I feel like this post should really end there, but I'll elaborate because why the hell not. In reality putting takes very little physical talents, due to it's relatively slow and minimal movement. The variables that go into hitting a put are so minim...

Re: Golf.com: How and Why Trump Cheats at Golf

I was going to stay out of this thread but my boss, who knows that I am obsessed with golf, just came in and gave me the book as a gag gift for my birthday. So I will know all in the future. Lucky me.

Re: I still cannot chip

[/quote] As far as chipping goes, it is so important that the club face contacts the ball properly. Looking up too early can lead to skulls and fats. I make the cleanest contact when I focus on a spot on the inside back of the ball until after contact. I don't worry much about my mechanics anymore, ...

Re: I still cannot chip

I will comment on chipping and putting because that is what I do think I know about golf - full swing much less so. The two links below are the basic videos I used to watch over and over when I first started playing. Very good for the basics. I've since learned that this technique is very good for g...

Re: The Golf Fashion Thread

Don't want to sound like an old guy but I think people should look neat at the course. Not into the overly casual stuff some people are not into. My favorite shirts tend towards either FJ or Peter Millar. I have two pairs of Peter Millar golf pants that are great - I can wear in the office looking l...

Re: WTF did you shoot today?

So I decided course conditions were normal enough yesterday to start my official season where I keep stats, post scores, etc. First two rounds showed lots of inconsistencies even if the final stats don't. Case in point putting - over two rounds, 4 three putts (worse than normal), 4 of 9 money putts ...

Re: Remember the Wedge Guy from Oob?

I always liked his columns. Maybe it was because I was a new golfer and his stuff was good learning for me. Yes, there was a sales pitch to him, but I would expect that from anyone and I was felt he was more right than wrong.

Re: WTF did you shoot today?

Spring is coming here - highs in the 60's today with 70's coming and staying later this week. That said, very discouraged by yesterday's outing. About my worst round of the past 3 months with a sloppy 82. Drove the ball and hit long clubs okay, but irons were lousy and chipping was very very bad. On...

Re: Spring 2019 Golf

We had at least another inch of rain last night. So today, for the 2nd time in 5 days, I am passing on playing golf when I could have. That has never happened unless the wife was mad at me for playing too much. It will be dry for 72 hours so there will be golf this weekend.

Some counties in Indiana don't change, either.
That changed 5-10 years ago, but Indiana used to have 3 time zones - some EST, some CST, and some that didn't change at all. Very confusing - whole state went to EST except for the area directly around Chicago which is CST.

Re: WTF did you shoot today?

It finally warmed up here end of last week but then on Saturday absolutely poured - at least an inch of rain. Everything was such mush I refused to go out on Sunday and went to the range instead, which was of course total mush. Probably two weekends away from the courses being in reasonable conditio...

Re: BK needs to visit Hellabama

A few years back a buddy and me were working on a winter golf trip. The problem was that our wives were going to be stuck back in NJ with the kids in school and bad winter weather so going someplace like Florida wasn't going to fly. So after scouting out all of the potential destinations, we finally...

Re: Spring 2019 Golf

I don't know if this is true or not, but it seems to me the new normal the last 5 years or so is a relatively mild December-January and a more fierce February-March. Why IDK. Is it true? IDK. But it feels that way. Probably have to blame global warming although that sounds counter intuitive.

OK it was really March golf today but it was about the coldest round I've ever had. Instead of 54, it never seemed to break 45, was windy and damp. Originally was going to play 27 today but decided that 18 was enough. Monday will be about our coldest day of the winter. What gives?
