Re: Incomplete Rounds

When I did keep a handicap I posted a bunch of 9 hole rounds. You could just post the front 9? I never post 9 hole scores even when I am supposed to. Most of the time when I go for 9 I expect to be solo for at least part of the round. More often than not I team up for at least a few holes, but the ...

Incomplete Rounds

For those of you keeping an active handicap, do you post incomplete rounds per the USGA guidelines. I've done it in the past but usually I played 16 or 17 holes. Today I played 14 holes before a storm cancelled the round. Per the guidelines I should post it but somehow it doesn't feel complete enough.

Re: WTF did you shoot today?

Cracked 90 for the first time at Da Club for an 88. Driver was better after I made an adjustment to make it an upright lie. The hybrid is an absolute beast the couple of times I hit it. All in all I was not disappointed. Hold on to your arse fellas, I shot a 79 today at Da Club. Can't really believ...

Re: Club fitting with the Club Fix in Costa Mesa

I could use some vicarious living right now so I think you should go ahead and schedule your fitting for next week. What's the point of delaying? The sooner you are fit the sooner you will have new Titleists.

Re: The Korn Ferry Tour

I pretty much despise the transition to corporate branding, except in cases where sounds quasi-'natural' (e.g. Oracle Arena, United Center, Nationwide Tour). When it doesn't, it just sounds like crap rolling off the tongue (Qualcomm Stadium (which recently converted to a more horrible name - the SD...

I have to agree for Titleist those aren't the prettiest.

When do they release new wedges / when will the SM7 have a slight discount to clear them out - time for new wedges.

Re: WTF did you shoot today?

Feeling your pain today. Accompanied mrs. bogey on a trip to Indiana and weather limited me to 9 holes with tomorrow doubtful- perfect weather at home. As to the 9 holes, 4 near perfect holes for 2 birds and 2 pars (one shot was too perfect as it almost hit flag and went too far but a perfect flop s...

Re: the nyc golf thread

One thing that I find fascinating (and I think is a related thought) is that in the era of business casual (which is becoming more casual everyday for both good and bad) is the growing popularity of golf shirts. I'm not talking about polo shirts, I mean golf shirts and even golf sweaters/wind shirts...

Re: WTF did you shoot today?

Saturday was another up and down day - 77 (76 +6 for handicap purposes) but it came with 4 bladed wedges which cost 4 strokes - what could have been. Just when I was about to scream about wedge play Sunday it came together - all 5 wedge shots struck very well for a +3 73. Four birdies required a tot...

Re: WTF did you shoot today?

So I start by saying that I have been in a temporary golf nirvana lately. I’ve been swinging extremely well, good distance and reasonable accuracy with the driver and somehow seem to have picked up 5 yards with my irons (which is also a little of a problem) which I am hitting great. The last couple ...

Re: WTF did you shoot today?

Another good, great, bad round today. The Good - 76, which is a very good but not great score for me on my home course. The great - 5 birdies for the first time. All types, near hole in one (6 inches), chip and putt on par 5, one long putt, two from closer. The bad - +11 on the 13 holes I didn't bir...

Funny Doug you took the opposite approach from me - I've decided the goal is the score regardless of how I get there. Yes, are things like FW % that help make my scores happen but I'm trying to not let my failures on one piece of the pie distract me. Different strokes for different folks.

Re: WTF did you shoot today?

One of those interesting roller coaster rounds today with great play, bad play, very good round, and what might have been. On a difficult slope 132 course: The Good - Hit 7 of the front 9 greens and 11 of the first 16. Felt like my irons couldn't miss. Hit 4 of 5 6i/5i - really good - and the miss w...

Re: Describe Your Best Shot of the Month

Got a round in today as I have family visiting this weekend so no Memorial Day golf - first time in probably 9 years. I hope to get one more round in, but today from 240 yards hit a 5W to 15 feet, then sank the putt for my 2nd par 5 eagle from the regular tees. 240 5W!!! - Thanks cart path!!!

Re: Spring 2019 Golf

Had one of my drier rounds for the year Saturday. Saturday night it absolutely poured - courses totally soft last two days. Now the 14 day forecast shows highs ranging from 86-92 the next two weeks. Guess things will finally dry out. So long Spring, we didn't have a chance to know you.

Re: WTF did you shoot today?

Rain held off long enough this morning to play an early round but course was way wet and playing really long. Swung club decently, especially given the lack of roll out. But this course usually has very fast greens and today they were so slow it was difficult to adjust which I never did. The wife an...

Re: The Grumble Thread

It's what fits your eye. Consciously or subconsciously, you are more comfortable playing one nine more than the other. It could be for any number of reasons, none of which might be necessarily obvious. Agree - but how this happened and why is a mystery as it wasn't an issue several months ago. But ...

Not really an option. I checked - the course rating is essentially the same for both 9's. Make no sense that I'm four shots worse on one 9 other than being mental.

Re: Random golf thoughts

That's interesting - have to remember that the next rain I play in. The bad news is that it turned what seemed to be a good drive into a tough lie among the trees with some low branches. The good news is that I hit an amazing low running shot under the branches and between the trees and hit the gree...
