Re: 2019 summer support group

As far as your game, Phil, I'm just happy I don't have to play a match against you right now. You'd kick my ass. I've been jealous of all those great rounds that I have seen you post on the Grint. Just remember that a lot of those scores are on a par 70 low slope course (114). I always have to remi...

Re: 2019 summer support group

My wife has had a lot of elbow issues as I have recently (Tennis elbow from playing tennis - doesn't hurt to golf). You need to do the following: Give it a complete rest for 1-2 weeks and probably cut back after that for a few more weeks. Find some exercises / stretches on the internet and do them a...

Re: WTF did you shoot today?

Great round BK! Since my wife was out of town I did something stupid yesterday and 36. The reason it was stupid was +100 degree heat index. Rode in the morning, rested for two hours, changed some clothes, and walked in the afternoon. Both rounds were mediocre - 80 on a new harder course and 77 on my...

Re: WTF did you shoot today?

According to Shot by Shot so far this year I am a 13 driving handicap, 11 approach and 4 putting. Today's round: driving 4, approach 3, putting 22. 14 GIRs and 11 fairways but turned it into a +5 75 with four three putts and several missed 5 footers. Satisfying yet frustrating.

Re: Describe Your Best Shot of the Month

Early in the month but a great sequence today - pulled my drive left on 17. I was safely in the fairway but had a little tree trouble to get to the green. Hit a 9i bullet below the tree (guessing 50 feet) with enough spin to hold the green, pin high for easy two putt par. Then on 18 hit my only bad ...

If his back is bad again it is likely time to retire - this is too sad. But if it isn't his back, he has to put in the practice time. Not sure he is willing to do that at this point. From following the round early, he was missing short irons badly. That sounds like lack of practice. Unless of course...

Went back Sunday and fired an 84. Missed my first hole in one by 4". Fired the driver a new PB 295 yards and backed that up with a 238 yard 19° hybrid to pin high about 5 feet off the green on the front par 5.
You have become a regular 80's shooter - congrats!

Re: WTF did you shoot today?

Nice round gbogey. Have you broken par yet? No but I've come close. I really think the two courses I played this weekend is where it can happen but everything needs to fall into place. Really thought I had a chance on Saturday and yesterday I was pretty confident I would pass the turn at even or be...

Re: WTF did you shoot today?

Surprised myself yesterday as my game has been lacking of late, but out of the blue shot a 72 on a par 71. 3 birds, 4 bogeys - had some good breaks and bad. Had 3 less than solid irons reach the green, but also had 3 lip outs. Only disappointment was on the par 5 18th - I thought I had a legit shot ...

Re: 2019 goals

Whoa! Beautiful course. You there on vacation? I need to visit WA, looks like my kinda place. Funny but Chambers Bay is the other course I've played with vistas like this and its in WA too but not close by. Round 2 fun and non-fun Driveable par 4 - day one almost made two, day two pulled drive into...

Re: 2019 goals

Hit a 2019 goal with a bucket list course yesterday and today - check out Gamble Sands: https://www.gamblesands.com/ Truly plays like a Scottish links course in the WA desert - all fescue, balls run for miles, lots of unique slopes and bunkers. Even had 20 mph winds for a good part of the day. Only ...

Must be part of middle aging - as I get older I grew more impatient with turtles. JB is getting a lot of flack for his pace - hopefully this starts changing something. I thought Koepka did a nice job of calling him out without being vicious. Had one of my very few really slow rounds here on Saturday...

Re: WTF did you shoot today?

Made the concession to the heat of riding both times this weekend. Had a decent weekend and I'm feeling good in that my mental game seems to be getting stronger. Saturday's target score was +10 but I was +4 after 3 and +7 after 9 with zero scrambles and 2 weak 3 putts. Held myself together and playe...

Might as well embrace it and go play golf. The Neshanic clubhouse is air conditioned for after the round.

Re: 2019 goals

I think the next time you have a chance to stop by a range, you need to pocket 2 balls - 1 in good shape and 1 really worn and do some testing for us.

Re: 2019 goals

So I went back to the range tonight. Roll out is definitely a calculation. I think it's pretty cool and accurate, except for the range ball situation - there were a few instances when there were some unusual results that in all likelihood were the beat up ball, no the Indian. Still cool and fun tech...

Re: 2019 goals

If it's some system other than trackman, my guess is that the "roll out" is just a calculation based on some standard ground firmness, and launch characteristics (spin rate, ball speed, launch angle, and wind speed). So that obviously wouldn't give perfectly accurate information post impact, but no...

What? And mess with the Fedex Cup? Aren't you tingling with anticipation as to makes the final 125 at the Wyndham Open? Don't you know what's important - sponsor's bucks, not trophies.

Re: 2019 goals

Range balls definitely don't go as far - particularly for longer shots - I think it is driven more by the core than the cover. I also have always felt that they don't stop as quick because they spin less, so I always judge shots on where they land not where it ends up. These seemed to be stopping qu...

Re: 2019 goals

That's awesome. My guess is it's way more accurate than you think, and if you really think your wedge game is off just keep hitting wedges on that thing. My favorite practice on my simulator is a wedge ladder. I forgot we had Mr. Home Simulator. You are probably right in that it is more accurate. W...

Re: 2019 goals

So I forced myself to the range last night instead of playing 9 (which was made easier by the 3-5 inches of rain we got from Barry). Hit about 100 balls, less than 10 were full swing, so 90 balls all wedges, pitches, and chips from 5-125 yds. Mostly straight wedge shots, no shanks and only 1 blade, ...
