Re: WTF did you shoot today?

Had my best 9 yesterday with a -3 33 for the front. Short game was on fire with 2 sandy's (one for bird on a par 5), 3 relative tap ins for par from chips, and one chip in for birdie. Then I promptly started the back 9 Double, Bogey, Double to end any thoughts of being under par. Funny thing was tha...

Re: WTF did you shoot today?

Played in an outing at Trump Bedminster yesterday where they played the Women's Open. Beautiful course and facility so sort of a bucket list day. Played in a shamble so not sure what I really shot, but my guess is that I was around 83-84 if I had been playing my own ball. Hit some really good shots...

Re: The Presidents Cup 2017

I find any Sunday the NY Giants are playing a good time to hit the course. When my son was playing tennis I would drop him off at the courts and go to the range on Sunday afternoons. I would basically have the range to myself, then at 4:30 or so tons of people would show up because the football game...

Re: WTF did you buy today?

My Utility wedge that came with my set is 50 degrees so I play a 54 and 58 - that is partly because early in my golf life I read an article where Butch Harmon said most amatuers should never use anything higher than a 58, so I got used to it. Most people seem to play 52, 56, 58, so it was surprising...

Re: WTF did you buy today?

I was in Golf Galaxy at least a month ago. The intent was to buy balls and make sure I knew what wedges I was going to buy at the end of August. Low and behold, they had in stock exactly what I was going to buy - Titleist (not the issue) but the right lofts, grinds, and finish. This despite the fact...

I'm actually pretty happy with that.

For a guy who used to complain about how bad he was seems like pretty impressive improvements. Nice job - scoring on every hole is really good.

Re: 2017 PGA TOUR thread

I think the guys doing this have good intentions. If you do the math, for 16 rounds of the playoffs some of these guys could be on the hook for $50-100k, not chump change but obviously when the make the coin they make easily affordable. Stacy Lewis' donation was more impressive - her entire check. K...

Re: Turning properly

I read recently where a lot of amateurs (including me) flare the left (lead foot) toward the target and that this often prevents them from making a full turn. So I started squaring my left foot and the results have been dramatically good - really solid hits and good distance. Might want to see if th...

Re: Strange Things During A Round

Today a buddy and I got paired with two singles. Guy #2 wasn't bad - older Asian gentleman - only issue is that he really needed to move up to the senior tees as he didn't even have senior distance. Guy #1 was a partner for the ages. Could hit the ball a mile but never could really tell if he could ...

Nice round and always good to have a new low, regardless of the course. And champions birdie the 18th hole - Now beat it on your home course.

Re: WTF did you shoot today?

Nice but unusual round today with a 75. Unusual in that all 3 bogeys were 3 putts, although 2 were extremely tough situations and I did have one 2 putt from around 70 feet. BUT the highlight of the day was the 18th hole. It's a difficult hole - hit a good tee shot but sent my approach into the bunke...

Re: WTF did you shoot today?

I might (hopefully) be having a hot streak like never before. Followed up Saturday's 71 with a 75 yesterday. 3 birds, 10 pars, 4 bogeys, 1 DB. Actually played the first nine in even par for 3 straight even par 9's. Here's how you know you are really hot - on 12th hole hit my first really bad shot of...

Re: WTF did you shoot today?

Best round ever today with a 71 on a par 71. 2 birds, 2 bogeys, 14 pars on 10 GIRs. One bird benefit of a lucky bounce and the other a chip in, one bogey had a 12 foot putt lip out. Putting and chipping was tremendous. Only negative of whole day was after birdieing 17 to go one under hit a weak driv...

Re: WTF did you shoot today?

SG360 automatically records par scrambles and Shot by Shot records up and downs whenever you have a chip/pitch shot, regardless of whether you are getting up and down for birdie, par, bogey, etc. Both have their uses and both have their flaws - Neither is able to take into account the difficulty of ...

Re: WTF did you shoot today?

For what it's worth shot by shot says short game is 50 yards and in. In my mind it's really 60 yards for me based upon how my wedges set up. Shot by shot would not agree with your up and down analysis Doug - you get one shot and that's what is measured. The theory is, I believe, that they do a lot o...

I am not sure if I am impressed by Spieth's command of the Rules or disgusted with the way he twists them to his own end. That idea of dropping where there is an immovable obstruction so as to be allowed to move laterally is both genius and despicable. That kid is really savvy about the Rules. I kn...

Re: Summer Support Group

Had a different summer problem. On a night where no rain was forecasted, my in-laws got 3+ inches of rain Friday night. Course was soaked. Slogging through soggy course with wet feet and 95 real feel temp due to the humidity. Today was pleasant at all, and that was before my worst round in years.

A man comes home from playing golf and finds a note on the fridge from his wife. "This isn't working, I'm going to my mother's."

The opens the fridge. The light comes on. The beer is cold. He is still trying to figure out what his wife was talking about.

I have become about as apolitical as they come. I don't like the man, but he's not the anti-christ and I can't stand listening to those who think he is. For that matter, Obama, Bush, and Clinton weren't as bad as their critics used to say. So I especially try to keep politics out of golf (except for...

I may go back tomorrow. As much as I enjoy watching these ladies, I don't get the whole caddie lining up thing. These girls are too good to need that. BTW one of my regular partners is hosting two of them in his home.
