Re: WTF did you shoot today?

Interesting day - don't know whether to be thrilled or unhappy. 16 GIR's (2 on fringe but clear putting situation) but 5 over par 75 as I made ugly DB's on both holes on which I didn't have a GIR. Had wedge in my hand for a GIR both times. Also 3 putted for bogey 3 times to go along with 2 birdies. ...

Re: Putting tempo and putter weight

According to the book, most putters have a tempo between 70 and 85 beats per minute. He gives you a drill to figure how your preferred tempo. I don't believe that he would agree on changing tempos for a different putter, but IDK.

Re: Putting tempo and putter weight

James Sieckmann talks about putting tempo in his book - you may be able to google some videos, but if I remember there's an acceptable range of tempos and the key is to find where you are comfortable. There's even a drill you can do with a metronome. I'll try to remember to look it up tonight. BTW -...

Re: Strange Things During A Round

There is a certain "country" element that takes getting used to here: Speaker music very common - not my preferred manner of play but doesn't bother me that much Lack of dress codes - Beef might like it but distasteful in my opinion LOTS of heavy drinking on the course like I've never seen before, I...

Re: Strange Things During A Round

Again had one of those experiences that you can't make up. Went to play some after work today. The starter pairs me with another single and sends us to start on the back 9. "Steve", I'll call him, is wearing a boonie hat and a muscle shirt. His clubs include metal woods, but have to be close to 20 y...

Re: WTF did you buy today?

I must say that one of the reasons I stuck with Callaway wedges was that I found Titleist too confusing. Then last year Callaway confused me. That, and a Titleist day session, led me to try them and now I'm a big fan. Just hoping that they keep the system the same. Beef - I found at my "fitting" tha...

Re: WTF did you buy today?

DOUGIE I need your help quick. Looking at Titleist wedges. Which grind do you have and why? Leaning towards the m or the s. I have 2 58's with the M grind and 1 54 with the M grind and 1 54 with the S grind. I usually play with a 58M and a 54S. I think that gives me the flexibility I need for almos...

Re: WTF did you buy today?

Congrats and interesting - my image of Bridgestone clubs is that they are more of a player's irons for much better players than any of us Not sure I agree. We have a lot of good players here at LG, including yourself. Anyone who has a repeatable, controlled swing and decent swing speed can successf...

Re: WTF did you buy today?

I haven't bought anything new other than a pull cart, which I'm not sure counts, all year and it's killing me. To be fair I bought enough stuff last year that I don't need anything new, but a guy needs a new toy every now and then. So I've been thinking new putter as I have been reading about new ma...

Re: The Tiger Thread

I really thought that what he needed was a round where he went really low, but that wasn't enough. Now I think he needs a really low round and a last pairing to win. I think it will come, but I also think that this shows it is harder to win today than it was. Speaking of than it was - doesn't it fee...

Re: The Grumble Thread

I must admit I played in my first five some last week. We had 5 guys who wanted to play so we went out as a 2 and a 3 and decided to combine after 2 holes as we thought the course didn't look busy from the tee sheet. We immediately let a twosome through, but the course was much busier than we though...

Re: The Tiger Thread

Maybe playing with Bryson and having Kuchar as a Vice-Captain will get him to switch putting techniques to the arm thing that they do - that might be the trick.

Re: Describe Your Best Shot of the Month

Not sure where to post this but this seems like the spot: Yesterday on Par 5 6th hole, card says 520, hit a nice drive and 4H to about 45 yards from front of green, one of those maybe i could have gotten there with my FW. Totally botched the 3rd shot - bladed it to 55-60 feet above the hole with a s...

Re: Random golf thoughts

Sounds like me today. Made an unforced bogey on the first hole, short par 5 after a good drive. Pressed on #2 to make par, DB. Difficult shot on 4 to save par, should have taken medicine for bogey, instead DB. Unfortunately I am technically incompetent or I would have changed my user name to GDOUBLE...

Re: The Grumble Thread

As I mentioned in the WTF Did You Shoot Today? thread, I had a good round going yesterday until we ran into a Korean women's outing who was finishing up on the 15th green when we pulled up to the tee. Up until that point, I was playing some good golf. They took me out of my rhythm the rest of the w...

Re: Random golf thoughts

I'm thinking the opposite - you probably are putting too much pressure on yourself to play better since you know you should be +8 shots. I started feeling that way about one of my friends in NJ before I left. It seemed like I was always playing below my normal game when I was with him. Granted his a...

Re: The Tiger Thread

Tiger is in the cup unless he is a washout during the playoff events. Any player in the top 12 is going to get picked if he is playing well recently, whether he is Tiger or not, and of course Tiger is playing as well as anyone. The real question is Phil, who everyone thinks is on the team and is in ...

Can you imagine what could be if he was able to rectify his tee shot issues once and for all? I was perusing GOLF magazine last night. Their driver picture sequence of the month was Brooks - good timing for them. One comment stood out - "like most good drivers, he always plays to one shape." I noti...

Re: 2018 summer support group

Interesting experience exploring new courses the last two days. Yesterday I had the chance to play at a local club. The reputation was the course was hard and tight. No my old course wasn't popular because it was so tight, but this place was unreal. The rating was 71.1/135 for only 6100 yards - not ...

Don't care what she looks like I disdain her and anyone else who is an instagram "star." Sorry, when it comes to things like instagram "stars" I'm a crotchety old man. And I wouldn't allow that outfit at my golf club. I'm there to golf.

Re: 2018 summer support group

I was partly just trying to get a stir out of the Beef but one clear difference down here is that several courses don't have dress requirements and total sloppiness results. I mean total sloppy and I'm not a snot at all. If you look at some of the Nike guys on tour, they are often wearing shirts tha...
