Re: WTF did you buy today?

Usually the company can get you a replacement but you may have to use an authorized rep. I was able to get a replacement 5i last year for my G25's. They may want a serial number from one of your clubs to verify that it's legit. Costs about the same as an individual iron, but cheaper than a whole new...

Re: 2018 PGA Tour Thread

I know a lot of people don't like him, but Bubba is absolutely amazing with that driver. The way he hits it high and long, low and running, big curves is truly a unique talent. The announcers said he doesn't like to hit irons or FW off the tee and then he proceeded to bunt his driver safely down the...

Re: WTF did you buy today?

So I'm in a southern state today but the weather is cold (40's) with a half an inch of rain (after multiple days of rain the past few weeks). So I went to the local golf store. Simply put, I needed some golf. I was basically looking at putters as I haven't been happy with the putter in my travel bag...

Tried going to the range during lunch today myself. +20 mph winds almost blew me over. Tough to see progress in those conditions

Re: Driver Confessions

So my current range regimen consists of playing two rounds of golf in my head. I do this mainly to work on my driver but also to make me switch clubs so that I don't fool myself with a false groove. I really don't care how I do on the non-driver shots - it's all about figuring out the driver. Usuall...

Re: Driver Confessions

So I've thought about this a lot because that's what we golf guys do. The problem is similar to Beef's - my most natural shot is a straight ball that is more likely to go right than left. But the two courses that I play most in NJ each have 3 holes that you have to play a fade. We are talking narrow...

Driver Confessions

As I've said many times, driver is my weakness and is the number one thing holding me back. I've spent as much range time as possible this winter working on driver as the main focus - I want draws to go left and fades to go right and to have fewer unplayable drives. I've come to the conclusion that ...

Re: 2018 PGA Tour Thread

Was watching the replay of round 3 this morning while getting ready. I don't mean to disparage these guys, I mean they are great players, but sometimes it seems like all the PGA tour is a bunch of guys hitting wedge shots and trying to make putts. It seems like they almost never hit anything longer ...

Re: New from Titleist

Never had much consistent success with Titleist balls so I just don't buy. Last year I traded 6 sleeves I picked up from charity events for a box of Bridgestones. Whenever I look at clubs Titleist is always a finalist. They make great clubs. Problem is there is usually another club that is much chea...

Re: 2018 Goals

Basically the same as last year: 1. Handle on course frustrations better - gotten better but still work to go 2. Maintain overall handicap between 6-8 3. Average score of 79.5 (differential of 8.2) - essentially a stroke better than last two years 4. 80% of rounds 82 or better (differential of 10.4)...

Re: January Golf!

Pull hooks - for me it typically is either ball position too forward (non driver) or taking the club to the inside on the backswing (driver and longer clubs). All too familiar with this problem.

Re: Rahm #5 in the world and why that's impressive

I think the media is over focused on the rankings and the majors, but that's the media who has to fill airtime and web pages. Personally I think the rankings are a farce - would anyone trade their year for Justin Thomas' 2017? I think not. But he's not number 1 right now. Rahm's had an impressive 12...

In thr state of New Jersey. Being serious here. Intellectually, culturally it is a perfect match. Staten Island does not embody the general spirit of NYC.
So I think what you are saying here is that Staten Island isn't filled with self consumed asses. :)

I'm in Tennessee for the weekend. Normal high is around 50 and I thought I'd get some rounds in - tomorrow it's going to be 37 - then go the 50's later next week. Tough winter for golfers all around.

Re: 2017 Year-End Totals

It turns out my record keeping wasn't very good this year. Approximately 120 rounds, which makes sense as i probably played 40-50 extra rounds due to my job transition and a normal year is around 70 rounds. Approximately $8000 dollars which includes my wife and son for their occasional golf needs wh...

Re: Breaking 80: What it means to you

I will be the first to admit that I am totally bi-polar on this one. On the one hand, I don't really think about it. I no longer track how many times I've down it like I used to - probably around 90 times - I do still track the times I've shot 76 and below for different reasons. But I don't go crazy...

Re: 2018 Winter Season Support Group

I believe that this is when the weather channel talks about the "european model" and the "U.S. model." Funny how my mood changes as to which one I wishes was better. Wife and I had a staycation in NYC - we were supposed to spend lots of time walking around and browsing but had to change plans. Curre...

Re: Membership opportunity at my club

That's an incredible deal - if I get it, $7500 whereas annual membership would be $15,000. Forget the cart fees. The only question is whether the club is in trouble? Why are they offering something so good? If for some reason the club isn't around for 5 years, you are hosed. But as long as it is aro...

Cleaned my clubs today with soap, water and brushing. Then did the same with the grips. Usually just give them the hard rub with a wet cloth. What else to do - no playing, no range.

20' birdie putt... walked off with an 8. Statistically that is a six-putt. Probably my first one. Now, I think the season is going to end, and I will be forced to sit on this turd over the whole winter, stewing in bitterness and regret. Think I finished at 82. FTS Sorry, just had to laugh. I prefer to keep it under 30 minutes if I can. I figure I'm gone for 5 hours including pre-teeing off, why make it longer. That said, this weekend I'm solo and I've considered 45-60 minutes.

Maybe it sounded like I was criticizing his chipping but I wasn't and totally agree with you - I would think chipping would take the longest to get back to normal. Also, Speith said the course was one of the hardest chipping courses they have played due to the grain, elevated greens, etc.
