Re: Post your pics of the courses you play
Though it can be a difficult hole, it is only the number 7 handicap hole on the course.
I was told once, although never seen anything to validate, that the #1 handicap isn't the hardest hole but the hole with the largest stroke differential between a scratch and bogey golfer. At le...

Re: Remember the Wedge Guy from Oob?

I always liked his columns. Maybe it was because I was a new golfer and his stuff was good learning for me. Yes, there was a sales pitch to him, but I would expect that from anyone and I was felt he was more right than wrong.

Re: WTF did you shoot today?

Spring is coming here - highs in the 60's today with 70's coming and staying later this week. That said, very discouraged by yesterday's outing. About my worst round of the past 3 months with a sloppy 82. Drove the ball and hit long clubs okay, but irons were lousy and chipping was very very bad. On...

Re: Spring 2019 Golf

We had at least another inch of rain last night. So today, for the 2nd time in 5 days, I am passing on playing golf when I could have. That has never happened unless the wife was mad at me for playing too much. It will be dry for 72 hours so there will be golf this weekend.

Some counties in Indiana don't change, either.
That changed 5-10 years ago, but Indiana used to have 3 time zones - some EST, some CST, and some that didn't change at all. Very confusing - whole state went to EST except for the area directly around Chicago which is CST.

Re: WTF did you shoot today?

It finally warmed up here end of last week but then on Saturday absolutely poured - at least an inch of rain. Everything was such mush I refused to go out on Sunday and went to the range instead, which was of course total mush. Probably two weekends away from the courses being in reasonable conditio...

Re: BK needs to visit Hellabama

A few years back a buddy and me were working on a winter golf trip. The problem was that our wives were going to be stuck back in NJ with the kids in school and bad winter weather so going someplace like Florida wasn't going to fly. So after scouting out all of the potential destinations, we finally...

Re: Spring 2019 Golf

I don't know if this is true or not, but it seems to me the new normal the last 5 years or so is a relatively mild December-January and a more fierce February-March. Why IDK. Is it true? IDK. But it feels that way. Probably have to blame global warming although that sounds counter intuitive.

Re: February Golf

OK it was really March golf today but it was about the coldest round I've ever had. Instead of 54, it never seemed to break 45, was windy and damp. Originally was going to play 27 today but decided that 18 was enough. Monday will be about our coldest day of the winter. What gives?

Re: How do you handle back stopping?

I rarely think about backstopping. I think one of the things missing from the conversations about this is if you are good enough to purposely hit someone's ball, why not hit the cup instead. I don't think that is missing at all from the conversation. I my mind it just has no relevance at all. The b...

I rarely think about backstopping. I think one of the things missing from the conversations about this is if you are good enough to purposely hit someone's ball, why not hit the cup instead. If my ball is in the way of someone chipping and between them and the hole, I always mark. If I'm on the othe...

Re: Surprisingly I really like the Taylormade Podcast

I'll listen to the Golf Digest podcast, but there are always parts to fast forward, particularly at the end where they spend time discussing their "picks" for the coming week. That's when you know there's too much media time out there - discussion golf "picks." Golf.com just revamped their podcast -...

Re: February Golf

So I've been resisting moving up tees despite the conditions because I wanted to work on my longer shots, mainly 5i and 6i, but in reality I was hitting lots of Hybrids and FWs and if things are really wet there are 2-3 holes I can't reach in 2 so it was frustrating. The other issue is that one of m...

Re: Just Keep Swimming

So it occurred to me today that since conditions have become wet and windy I've become addicted to punch / knock down shots. Hardly have hit a normal iron in a few rounds, just club up 1-2 clubs and knock it down (does not include wedges). I know I can't go through life like that, but right now it s...

Re: February Golf

The weatherman had a big miss last 36 hours. Was supposed to be a light rain last night then 56 with light/no wind today. Instead last night's rain was heavy and today never reached 50 with a strong wind. Course was an absolute mud pit. After waddling through the mud for 4 holes, I saw that on two h...

Re: What Do You Carry in Your Pockets During a Round?

It would be an interesting experiment to have a stranger re-arrange what and where we carry stuff while playing golf. Make me, Fish and Beef carry an extra ball in our right pocket. Attach gpickin's phone to his bag. Take away SJ's hankie. Take the spare balls away from MattF and GBogey. Place all ...
