Re: N.B.A.

Yeah, they're sad. I agree. Thankfully, have other teams to watch on the regular a few times a week that don't depress me.

I need to go look at some more Lucy Robson booty shots to cheer me up.

Re: What Do You Carry in Your Pockets During a Round?

Left pocket - phone
Right pocket - Pitchfix divot tool w/ magnetic marker

Am I the only weirdo that doesn't carry tees on them? Those things are fucking sharp. I just keep them in the bag or cupholder area of the golf cart and pull one out when needed.

Re: 2018-2019 Winter Support Group

I stopped shot tracking quite a while ago (2017?) When I was, it looked like... 50-75y: 64% 75-100y: 47% 100-125y: 56% 125-150: 19% 150-175: 35% The 75-100 was what was killing me. The 100-125 was mostly all with one club, and I'm comfortable with that club and range. Coincidentally, the smart tips ...

Re: 2018-2019 Winter Support Group

If I had to put money on a shot to hit the green, I'd take 120 over 60 every day of the week. Do you have anything that keeps detailed stats? Like remaining distance to pin after each shot? If so I'd wager some money that this isn't true. It may feel that way, but I'd find it very hard to believe y...

Re: 2018-2019 Winter Support Group

So I'm kind of obsessed with this 'breaking 80' thing, which might be inhibiting my chances of actually doing it (the obsession thing). Oh god. No it's not. Get out of your freakin' navel and whack some balls. Or chip em at least. What I am saying is that I do not believe you need mental help. You ...

Re: 2018-2019 Winter Support Group

So I'm kind of obsessed with this 'breaking 80' thing, which might be inhibiting my chances of actually doing it (the obsession thing). Anyway, I browsed another golf site (Sandtrap maybe?) and someone brought up the book 'Extraordinary Golf' (Fred Shoemaker) as one of the key things that pushed the...

The Grint Virtual Tour

So I setup a virtual tour on The Grint. Unfortunately, there's no tutorial or FAQ so I just went ahead with the defaults. Appears that it will track points competitively across Grint users. The organizational hierarchy is Tour>Event>Round The Tour is called Legitimate Golf 2019. I'm assuming a yearl...

91. Some blow up holes trashed what was a decent round for a while.

Re: Anyone up for some Golf in San Diego this weekend?

I'd join you but I'm booked this weekend, have a morning round on Sunday with a competitive group (we play for the belt, it's pretty sweet). I've walked Torrey during the Farmers. I'll play it eventually, but might try to finagle something to play it cheaper. There are a lot of other nice courses in...

Re: N.B.A.

I was on board with a big package to get A.D. I'd love to see the keystones of a super-team. Looks like New Orleans was content to wait until summer, which is probably to their advantage, demanded as much as they could to see how much L.A. would offer before they said 'enough'. There's gonna be shak...

Re: Course Staff and Rangers

My most memorable experience of golf course assholery is at the Montebello Golf Course, which is an average city-run golf course outside of L.A. For whatever reason, the people behind the desk (a wide wooden paneled thing that looks like a judge's bench) are on a raised platform, like 8 inches highe...

Re: Course Staff and Rangers

I think most of these crotchety a-holes work at municipals.

Most of the privately owned courses or resort courses are falling over themselves to make sure you are happy. 'You get what you pay for' is dead on. Shit, I've been to courses where they give you fresh baked cookies on the first tee.

Re: When is it TOO Cold?

My buddy has a battery powered heated vest. It's rechargeable. He plugs it in overnight and he's ready for more warmth the next day. Evidently it is quite effective. He can crank it all the way up and stay warm well into the single digit temps. Never heard of that. Surprised more people don't have ...

Re: Random golf thoughts

Sure Dukes... will let you know. Was thinking about playing the old TPC Valencia ( the Oaks ) but I will be in Vegas that weekend. If any one that list sound good to you, let me know, I don’t know which ones are must plays. I'm playing the one prior to that at Mesa Verde in Costa Mesa. Many are sou...

Re: When is it TOO Cold?

The coldest I've ever been in was 14* F, in Kingman, AZ in Feb. That was memorable. My brother-in-law lives in NW Montana, but works the oil fields in N. Dakota on a 3 week on, 3 week off basis. He showed me some special jacket that he uses that has some kind of plastic liner that they use in N. Dak...

Re: Random golf thoughts

Do you local Golf Associations do events? Southern California Golf Association ( which we pay membership to with our mens club ) has a bunch of things to do. The member outings are some awesome prices to play private courses, I think I might have planned some mini trips for the year. Even in town, ...

Re: WTF did you shoot today?

Shot 92. Some shitty putting and spotty iron play, but I hit like 4 or 5 crisp half wedges/pitches with a divot and everything, so that's been a success. I'm no longer terrible at that portion of my game, which was really irksome.

Re: When is it TOO Cold?

Hmm.. I'm in California and SJD said 35F and I was thinking 35F-40F, but literally, that's the coldest it really gets here. That said, I guess I'd go lower since it's golf and I love to golf, even if it's uncomfortable.

Re: European Tour in Saudi Arabia

I was in the process of writing something quasi-contrarian, but in the process read a few web articles detailing all the fucked up shit that this Saudi prince bin Salman's been doing for the past couple years. I guess I was just ignorant (aside from the Khashoggi hit) of the details. Maybe these dud...

Re: 2019 PGA Tour thread

Good stuff from Woods, sticking it out even after a lackluster first 9 to grind out a T-20 with some very solid and well balanced golf T to green. Excited for Riviera, where apparently he'll be a fixture with the Tiger Woods Foundation being part of the tourney. I was inches from volunteering at th...
