Re: Corona Virus and Face Masks

I gave Ms Beef an old vintage t-shirt and she looked up a pattern online and sewed us some masks with elastic bands. Cloth is minimal protection but they are comfortable at least and fairly cool looking. Most people out there are using either the single-use blue medical kind (which I thought were su...

Today's flavors: -vanilla -mint chocolate chip -strawberry -chocolate peanut butter -banana peanut butter chip -rum raisin -pistachio Last night I opened our overloaded freezer and ice creams came tumbling out. :facepalm Not that I am eating much of it. I am just hoarding. Having a stockpile of ice ...

One Week In November

If all goes according to plan we are in for a year-end Golf on TV extravaganza like nothing we've ever seen before. There's never been anything like it before. Nobody's ever done a job like we've done a great job, ok?

Wow, I may forward this on to the Maryland Golf Course Owners Association. They have been trying to plead with our governor, to no avail so far. Any ammo they may be able to use might be helpful.
Look at this political activist :gay

Re: Events canceled/postponed in 2020

The world is burning down but from out of the smoke clouds and rubble... the US Women's Open has emerged! The first scheduled golf tournament of the post-coronavirus world. December 10-13. This is probably just some gayass fanciful thinking on the USGA's part but hey, it is a golf tournament, with a...

Re: Events canceled/postponed in 2020

Last night I tried watching an LPGA rerun from 2018, just to look at some ball whackin'. I lasted about seven minutes. Tonight I will try watching myself play some Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 2005 on the Nintendo. Don't worry I will play in Tour Mode.

Re: Golf in a Plague Year

I would play but a) fear unprecedented massive crowding at the course and 2) don't want to be roaming around town carrying a stupid golf bag. I know I shouldn't care what people think but something about this would make me uncomfortable. You never know how people are going to act/react these days.

Re: Golf in a Plague Year

The optics are no good IMO. Shutdown is now affecting the majority of Americans. Everyone is making sacrifices and maybe it's simply a bad look for any one group (of let's face it, hobbyists) trying to claim an exemption. Anyways the proper social distancing protocol as described by DougE is not bei...

Re: Events canceled/postponed in 2020

There will be no Champion Golfer of 2020. The Open Championship and Wimbletons both canceled outright. So sad. I think at this point, cancelling is the more dignified act. Rather than a sad progression of postponements, and denials. "Everything's great, everything's gonna continue to be great, nothi...

Re: Grocery Shopping & Corona Virus

I've been making a cup a day for myself, as it's what's for breakfast, lunch, and dinner right now. A family of four, at four cups a day, comes out to about 60 pounds a month (and "close" is a relative term). If you're like my sister and have teenage athletes, you'll be much closer. You're crazy ma...

Re: Grocery Shopping & Corona Virus

We often cook 1 standard measuring cup (uncooked) rice and that's enough for 2 adults and 2 kids, with rice leftover. I suppose if you're just eating rice and nothing else, you'd need more. BTW, I recently attempted to cook Brown Jasmine rice (cuz that's all they had at the store) in the rice cooke...

3 disc set is on its way. The city just shutdown all playgrounds. I think I am going to end up spearheading a massive cultural movement in these trouble times. Not that I mean to do any such thing. Just seems like an idea whose time has come, hard. Discgolfhard.com

Re: Disc Golf

Thank you bkuehn1952 . This idea is stewing, and smelling better all the time. I'm looking at a map of the property and making some rough sketches. Indeed they have cheap 3-disc newbie sets on amazon. These are no less sad and dorky than boxed sets of beginner golf clubs I am guessing. But what are ...

Re: Golf in a Plague Year

I'm not there yet mentally but one idea of mine is to plot out a disc golf ( :facepalm) course around my apartment complex. It's a mile-long loop of serene walkways, with lots of big trees, lightposts and other potential "holes". I know jack squat about disc golf but I suspect that our community is...

Re: Golf in a Plague Year

Just a random post. This was from NYT crosswords puzzle blog from last week. Such a wonderful image that I stole it and uploaded it here instead of linking. 28wordplay-alsatian-jumbo.jpg Sheila Hamilton, a golfer, with an Alsatian shepherd caddy during a match at Primer Hill. Uncertain whether this ...

Re: Corona Virus and Face Masks

One of the most confusing questions of right now, regards wearing a mask. Early on the federal government was telling us not to wear a mask, that it might actually *increase* your risk. :facepalm Right now I am questioning just about anything coming from the fed or the white house. How can any reaso...
