Re: 2018 Fall Support Group

We're getting it right now Doug. Very slushy and gross. Has it rain-melted over there yet? I am still expecting to play next week or even possibly this Saturday!

Re: ... currently listening to:

been listening to Smiths, Pixies, entire catalog The Libertines, album from 2015 Paul McCartney Ram The Beatles just put out a new remixed repackaged White Album and outtakes package. I am listening to the entire thing via my music subscription service. Some of the outtakes are supremely interesting...

I also exfoliate but use a Microplane foot file and it helps immensely.
FYI they are also useful in the kitchen for grating really hard, dry cheeses like Parmesan. Or tough, gnarly botanicals such as ginger root. Also good for scraping the zest off of citrus fruits. :school

Re: Cold Weather and Hands

I walk 99% of the time in the winter. What would be best is if I got a "motorized" push cart so that both hands could stay in my pockets. Either that or if I just sacked up and carried my bag. I have debated this dilemma and while you do generate more heat while walking/carrying, it also takes long...

Re: Cold Weather and Hands

Doug already did move south. Maybe it is time for some diet/nutrition considerations. How is your fat intake, Doug? As you all might have gathered, the beefster is big into dietary fat. This is complete conjecture but I feel that a low-fat diet might further dry a person out. Perhaps also some omega...

Re: Cold Weather and Hands

What a great thread by the way. A real concern for us winter sports enthusiasts. If it's really cold I'll put on a winter glove in between shots, but that is a lot of work over 18 holes. Usually I will just sit on my right hand and drive the cart with the gloved left hand. This year I will experimen...

Re: Cold Weather and Hands

Jesus Doug I am sorry to hear that. If I get even one split my whole world is wrecked. Have you ever worked with aloe vera, specifically in gel form? I use it for a number of things one of them is dry hands. Not so sure about the moisturizing properties per se, but I believe it--better than any othe...

Re: When will DougE pass bkuehn1952?

Phew, thank God. I was a little worried. If Doug had stopped playing I would've gone over the edge of depression probably. There are few things in the world in 2018 that I feel I can count on and Dougie's abiding love for stupidass golf is one of them.

Re: The Grumble Thread

So today was beautiful weather here, tee sheets were full. We had a threesome behind us. As we were on the 5th tee, one of the guys approaches my wife and asks if they can play through. She says she doesn't know the etiquette, but she would talk to the group. We were at that point maybe half a hole...

Re: Random thoughts - the lottery

Here is my lottery hot take. People of my socioeconomic class and above tend to look down their noses at this shit. I don't. What's the big deal? Occasionally I will plop down a couple bucks and play. In doing so I am neither wasting my time nor hard earned money. OK so maybe if people are dedicatin...

Re: WTF did you buy today?

I love this SM7 Vokey wedge. I am attached to it already. When I look at it, I feel good. The sand wedge is always my number one club, in the sense that I use it the most during practice--full shots, pitch, and chipping. And it is delivering on the course too. Thank you to DougE and all the other fi...

Re: WTF did you shoot today?

Had one of my best rounds ever (but not quite top 3) today with a 72 on my new easier home course. Pretty solid in every facet today, 5 bogeys and 3 birds. Interesting had 3 EXTREMELY bad swings that caused 3 of the bogeys, the kinds that you were thrilled to just make bogey, but otherwise was spot...

Re: WTF did you shoot today?

Speaking of remodeling, I played a local round for the first time in such a long time yesterday. To my dismay I failed to break 90 on a course I know all too well. Attempting to do something very different with the swing, I made some of the worst shots imaginable. A four-putt on the third hole made ...

Re: 2018 Fall Support Group

Overnight, the battle against humidity ended and the battle against dryness has begun. I went to play yesterday and my right index finger split open a tiny bit. :bawl (Temps were in the 40s and the course was still crowded btw.) The gusty winds have arrived for the season. At home, humidifiers are r...

Johnny Miller retirement

I for one am bummed. I don't think he was all that spectacular at calling the shots, but I am accustomed to his presence. As a Tiger Tard I have strong associations with Johnny's voice and big moments in tournament golf. He was there for many of Tiger's exploits going way back to the US Am when Tige...

Re: 2018 Fall Support Group

Real actual cool weather has arrived finally. Just as I been lamenting, we are moving straight from swamp-ass to winter-like chill. No fall this year I guess. We didn't have spring either. Bring it on. This winter I attempt to set a new benchmark for cold weather golfability.
