Re: Summer Support Group

I plan on being more golf-active than ever during the late fall/winter if that's any consolation. Plus my game feels like it's on the verge of bustin' out. Or something. So there's that. A lot of my indifference is weather related. For example I was crestfallen to look at the extended forecast and s...

golf is hard

Nope, not another dumbass, fucked-out old guy rant about how much I suck, how hard and frustrating golf is, how elusive and unpredictable decent play is blah blah blah. (What, you think I'm looking for a job writing for Golf Digest, or Hallmark Cards or whatever?) Yes okay, shooting good scores is a...

Always good to hear from the Dugmeister, even if, nay especially if it's a cranky rant. racing carts, playing bumper carts, doing donuts on fairways, leaving garbage all over, peeing in places that even a homeless person wouldn't consider and generally acting like idiots, basically abusing MY course...

IPA of course.

Re: Summer Support Group

What the hell's going on out there. What is everyone up to. Around here, it still feels like summer. Medium warm temperatures but persistent humidity. Casual sweating still an everyday occurrence. Weather is just too damn temperate to entertain much thought about playing golf. I am daydreaming about...

Swinging an upside-down club

I've been working on this a lot lately. In the old days (my early extension days) I tried it a few times to no avail. It never felt right, and that's because I was accustomed to using the club improperly. Now that I am correcting my major swing errors, I am able to achieve a pretty good "whoosh...

Re: WTF did you shoot today?

79 (+9) at Silver Lake. 2nd straight round under 80 on this course. I have shot lower before, but today I made a triple and a double and still got under the line. That is encouraging, I should aim for even better scores. The guy I played with actually said to me during the round: "Man, you're a...

Re: Anything, Dog

Have to be honest here, I like to share a beer with Ringo. I pour out a teaspoon of IPA into my palm and he loves it. What it is about the taste he likes, it's hard to say. But he does, and he is sort of picky. Unlike many dogs he wont eat a carrot, and half the time he will pass up peanut butter. I...

Re: Live music--what is it good for?

Okay, I'm back. Eh. Eh. I got bored midway through. We leave before the encore so as not to get caught in the crush of 20,000 people trying to exit the building at the same time, and then trying to get a cab out on 7th ave. I was a little bit sad at how unmoved I was at seeing this great icon of the...

Tonight's the night! Can't wait to sing along to all the classics! "Everyday she takes a morning bath she wets her hair, wraps a towel around her and she's heading for the bedroom chair, it's just another day" "Mull of Kintyre, o mist rolling in from the sea!" "Freedom, talk...

The current LPGA "major" championship has been reduced to 54 holes due to weather. The commissioner cited a wet, hilly course and not wanting caddies and their heavy bags taking spills. Jesus Christ! Lightning is a hazardous condition. Gale force winds and falling tree limbs is a hazardous...

Going to see Paul McCartney (formerly of the Beatles) on Friday.

In my worldview this is one of the most important people in the history of the world, so in that sense I'm excited just to see the guy with my own eyeballs. He is up there with people like Bob Dylan, and Jesus.

Just browsed some Skygolf scores. You all are playing regular golf, and shooting some decent scores. I am glad to see that. Me and Furr on the other hand are hanging out on the fringe. Of golf participation. Demographically speaking, we are just barely considered golfers. I'm in a strange spot righ...

Re: WTF did you shoot today?

Played in an outing at Trump Bedminster yesterday where they played the Women's Open. Beautiful course and facility so sort of a bucket list day. Played in a shamble so not sure what I really shot, but my guess is that I was around 83-84 if I had been playing my own ball. Hit some really good shots...

I have informed the little lady that we will not be attending, and it's because of Phil. Thankfully she doesn't seem to have a problem with it. I think she is also tired of the drama.

I get it man. Moderating a non-commercial, not-for-profit chat messageboard and doing it on a volunteer basis is a thankless job. Nobody understands that better than me. Believe me.
