Re: December Golf!!!

Welp, when there's nothing else to talk about, there's always weather. It's frigid here now. Saturday looks to be borderline, leaning more into the insanity side of things. Maybe Sunday. And then! Next week is forecast to be right about perfect (by the beefster's standards at least) winter golf cond...

Re: December Golf!!!

Kind of warm today, we might scrape 50°. Was hoping for some cleansing rain but right now the forecast says "40%" which for some reason seems to be about the same as "0%", when it comes to rain forecasts. Optimistically thinking towards Friday as a golfable day.

Re: December Golf!!!

Played the tournament yesterday. Feels like temperature never got about 36* but I was pretty comfortable the entire day. Didn't hit my irons & wedges well, but somehow hit driver really well. I put a drive in the green side bunker of a 277 yard par 4 (had to cut it around trees). We nearly hole...

Re: Autumn Support Group Thread

Wow, glad to have you guys at the gay snow party. I have hope this morning. Hope of swinging a golf club in a meaningful context again in 2017. The covering is fine and powdery and already melting in the bright sun rays. Area children attempting to enjoy some downhill sledding are not reaching very ...

Re: Autumn Support Group Thread

Gayass Eastern Seaboard autumn snow party. I feel like even Furr might have got a snowflake or two. We got coated, with light falling snow all day long, maybe 5". Outlook is hazy. Our golf season now teeters on the edge of existence. :nope Just as I was starting to kick some butt :nope :nope

Re: WTF did you shoot today?

You should laugh. It's insane. Been thinkin' about it ever since. Went to an Xmas party, still thinkin about it. I'm almost glad that it happened, just because it's a funny story. I can break 80 any old stupid time, i think. And this is a cautionary tale. You really cannot even THINK about messing w...

Re: How far do you have to travel to your home course?

60-80 minutes is not that unreasonable to travel--to play a nice course! What is most awful about our (pfft, I say "our", as if there are other wack-jobs who do the same as me) situation is that we travel for up to 80 minutes and at the end, we are still in the same god forsaken city as wh...

Re: WTF did you shoot today?

Today may turn out to be the last day of winter golf around here. I had a good round going at Silver Lake. 7 over with three holes to go, good chance to break 80 and close out 2017 on a high note. Then tragedy struck. #7 is the shallowest green I have ever seen anywhere, pitch and putts INCLUDED. It...

Re: December Golf!!!

Everything is white here in the Frigid Mitten. A few days of 40+ degrees would clean the little covering up but it is not going to happen for at least 10 days. Good to see you around here at least. I might very soon be joining you in the winter of our malcontent. Sad. (Sorry, can't muster an exclam...

Re: How far do you have to travel to your home course?

If you think MattF has it rough, get ready to cry into your coffees. These are my travel times to the closest courses. Dyker Beach: 0:50 (if the bus shows up on time and traffic is light) to 1:10 on a slow subway ride. Silver Lake, 1:15. Marine Park and Pelham in the Bronx, 1:20. Are those times on...

Re: The Grumble Thread

Ummm, if groups behind are waiting on you (the singles) would that not mean you were waiting on groups in front of you? I have never had a group wait on me as a single, whether I was walking or carting, unless I was held up. Don't make the same mistake I did and attempt to understand a moron's logic.

Re: The Grumble Thread

At Dyker Beach Golf Course is sometimes referred to as the busiest golf course in the world and it's also where you'll find some of the dumbest people in the world. Yesterday was a bitterly cold and windy day, there were maybe 20 people on the entire course and the starter made me (in a cart) wait f...

Shit got real. We are getting a few inches tomorrow. Played a shitty round in the cold yesterday but might have to go again today in case the season is over for good. Never know.

Re: December Golf!!!

It's finally here. Feels like I've waited so long for it. Finally, the weather is turning cold. Time to put away the polos and the shorts. For reals this time. Time to lay out all the long johns and the insulated outerwear and what not. Say goodbye to all fairweather golf course douchebags, see you ...

Re: Winter Golf: tips and tricks

3) I wear compression tights/pants by UA or Nike under my golf pants when it gets down in the 30s-low 40s. Most of my golf pants are all lightweight tech material for playing in warmer conditions, but with the compression tights under them, I am plenty warm. And they are much more comfortable than ...

Re: The Tiger Thread

Doug I wouldn't mind seeing those people shut down either. Not because I get offended on Tiger's behalf or anything, but more because those kinds of opinions are ignorant about golf. People act so sure of themselves, regarding things about which they know next to nothing, and what little they do kno...

Winter Golf: tips and tricks

If you ask me, winter time is the best time. To play golf that is. (For day to day living let's face it, winter kind of sucks ass) Doug's post from another thread, regarding dry and cracked hands inspired me to start this one. Even if my ability to get a ball into a hole sucks, I feel I am pretty go...

Re: The Tiger Thread

Actually I watched a lot of the coverage and they showed plenty of other people Tigering, I mean yipping, I mean hitting poor shots from around the green. Jordan quoted as saying it's the toughest chipping course they play all year because of the bermuda and tight lies and sunken chipping areas.

Re: Live music--what is it good for?

Live music-- what is it good for? Morrissey was in good form and voice last night, but let's talk once again about the hornet's nest that is concertgoing in 2017. We were hemmed in by tards. The man and woman next to Ms. Beef spent most of the concert fighting with one another. Midway through one of...

Doug if you ever want to start a Titleist, or a FJ, or an "Ask an FJ Rep Anything" type of thread, feel free. You have cart blanch. Could prove interesting and informative. For instance, I was curious: do you use an FJ or a Titleist glove? :gay
