Re: 2018 Spring Support Group

We slogged it out, me and ms beef. Cart path only on a big, wide course :facepalm At least they had nice raincovers on the cart. Very wet, and light rain all day. Wet feet, wet grips, clubface, there was no fighting it. We had fun though and as our reward encountered zero people in front or behind. ...

Re: WTF did you shoot today?

Wow - that's down in my neighborhood - the Beef was nearby. Neshanic is the flagship course of Somerset County where I live. The other 4 courses are good for muni's, but Neshanic is special. My last two trips to the Ballyowen / Wild Turkey area were both 5.5 hour rounds. I vowed never again. If I w...

Re: WTF did you shoot today?

93 at Neshanic Valley yesterday. It rained and misted just about the entire time and I saw about three people across the entire 27 hole course. One of the most picturesque courses I've ever played. It is situated on opposing sides of a bucolic valley. They say Ballyowen is the nicest course in Jerse...

I'm actually ok with this "sort of humor" because it reminds me of my grandpa, a tireless joke-email forwarder in his heyday.

The problem is that the average man's drive is 205 for amateurs (all ages and handicaps combined), I remember reading somewhere, so if you take 20% off, it would become 164 yards. Forget even playing 6000 yar

Re: 2018 Spring Support Group

Inspired by Dougie, I am going to attempt to slog it out in the wet n rain today. Neshanic Valley, very nice course I hear, offering some real bargain bin tee times for whatever reason. Probably full of aeration holes. :nope No salt, I said no salt on the margarita :onfire

That rough is too long for everyday play. :nope

On the other hand, it's been raining a lot. I would imagine it's a struggle to keep things trimmed.

Re: Reduced flight balls closer than we think?

I didn't do the survey, but if they want to limit the distance it's ok with me. Anyways the balls we play now are already "reduced-flight", so rhetorically speaking let's be honest here we are talking about simply an increase of an existing regulation/limitation. And if such a limit would result in ...

Re: Reduced flight balls closer than we think?

I find it interesting that they are so focused on the ball. I think it is because the Pro VI changed the game and there is almost a pre and post Pro VI in tour history. But in the 9 years that I've been playing I think it's more the equipment that has changed than the ball. At the pro level, you ha...

Re: 2018 PGA Tour Thread

Dude just try it. If you world falls apart as a result, I'll take the full blame.

The larger point I am trying to make here, is that such "concerns" as the one surrounding the status of "major championships" in golf, are not actually concerns at all. :school

OK golf establishment, I surrender. I will now consider the Players'es's Championship to be the "fifth major". It will probably entail a massive life change but hey, nobody ever said being a fan of pro golf was easy.

Re: 2018 LPGA thread

VERY exciting period of time for all of us here. I know most of you guys are fully up to speed but for the benefit of the few living under a rock, next week the LPGA rolls into Jasonfishville, VA for the Kingsmill (formerly Michelob :puke) Championship. AND the week after that (!), the greatest show...

Re: Random thoughts

I am about to throw down another proclamation. The greatest guitar soloist in rock is Brian May. Others might have conceived better riffs (Page) or lit the world on fire with their prowess (Hendrix) but nobody composed a solo like May. He is up there with like, Paganini or Brahms or some shit. Most...

Re: 2018 Spring Support Group

Based on my cursory analysis of the level of activity up in here, spring is actually a more insidious time for golfers than winter. I would bet that, if such a thing could be measured, that morale is at an annual low right now. I've played, like one round in the last month. :puke
