Re: WTF did you shoot today?

Haven't played in five days. Was sick in bed Monday and Tuesday with bad cold. Didn't really feel up to playing yet, but wanted to get out at least one day this week. 40 degrees, but wind wasn't too bad. Figured I'd play a few holes until it got too uncomfortable. Hit a couple 8 irons on the range a...

Re: 2018 Fall Support Group

This is getting bad. It's only November. I haven't played since Sunday. Five full days. Weather is not cooperating. I drove by the course on Wednesday. It was 33 degrees and the wind was gusting over 30 mph. With wind chill, probably felt like low teens. It was terrible, but, son of a bitch, there w...

Re: ... about to put ______ in the video player

Thought Rachel McAdams was great in Game Night . And, I have always liked Jason Bateman's dry humor. He was great in the recent Netflix series, Ozark . Serious role for him in this one, but still had some great dry humorous lines, delivered as only Jason Bateman could. If you haven't seen the series...

Re: WTF did you buy today?

Upgraded my Titleist 915F2 3W to a new 917F2 3W. Got tired of having to clean out the Active Recoil Channel. The 917 channel is closed, so can't clog up with grass and mud. Otherwise, very similar clubs.

Re: Hope Everyone Has Something Fun To Do Today

Everyone got here Tuesday. We had Thanksgiving yesterday. It was the only time my wife's family was available at the same time. Most are still here today and will be until tomorrow. I could have played 36 holes if I wanted today. Except it is 30 degrees outside. So I'm listening to four screaming ki...

Re: 2018 Fall Support Group

Played the last 3 days in a row. Monday was actually nice. Yesterday, however, was friggin' cold. 45 degrees wasn't all that bad, but the 15-20 mph winds made it nearly unbearable. I wasn't dressed for it. Couldn't feel my fingers by mid way. I kept thinking: just play one more hole. And then I woul...

Re: 2018 Goals

I just looked back at the beginning of this thread to see what I had hoped to accomplish back in January. Accomplished the most important, but was not successful in all cases. Reach 6.X handicap index. (At that time was 7.5). :up Finished season at 5.9, somehow. Find 10 more yards with driver, consi...

Re: Who is going to watch Tiger vs Phil?

Love Tiger---and really like Phil---but, not that interested. It means nothing. Doesn't matter who wins. It doesn't settle anything. Not that there's anything to settle. Tiger settled everything already. It's not like Ali/Frazier, or Leonard/Duran. Those guys were evenly matched their whole careers....

Re: 2018 Fall Support Group

We ended up with 4-5 inches. It has turned to sleet and there is rain mixed in too. Not sure how this is going to melt in time for the weekend. It's a mess now, and more snow than expected. The rain and sleet isn't strong enough to eat away the snow, so all it is doing is making 4-5 inches of heavy ...

3 inches and snowing heavily still. I have a Sunday tee time. I was also planning to do my final mowing Saturday. I hate snow. Maybe you're right Matt, further South.

Beef, this is coming your way. Jus' sayin.

Re: Cold Weather and Hands

Jesus Doug I am sorry to hear that. If I get even one split my whole world is wrecked. Have you ever worked with aloe vera, specifically in gel form? I use it for a number of things one of them is dry hands. Not so sure about the moisturizing properties per se, but I believe it--better than any oth...

Re: WTF did you buy today?

That, I just don’t understand. Not saying you’re crazy Doug, but I don’t get it at all. Nope, I'm crazy. No doubt about that. Frankly, up until recently, I could not understand why anyone would spend hundreds of dollars on a putter head cover either. Then, somewhere along the line, I must have inad...

Re: Cold Weather and Hands

My hands are already split in many places. Mostly on fingers. I wore two gloves today. It was 45 degrees. Moisturizer doesn't work. I have to soak them in some moisturizing crap my wife has for hours every few nights, and/or squirt moisturizer into the fingers of nitrile gloves, which I then wear to...

Re: WTF did you buy today?

Don't get me started on head covers. My Scotty original 2015 cover is starting to lose its velcro clasping ability and the seam has also started to split. After removing and replacing the cover on the head of my Newport 2, probably over 10,000 times on, and 10,000 times off, over the last 3 years, I...

Still dreaming of a Scotty - maybe when I turn 55 next year. Maybe Titleist has a senior discount.
Mine was retailing at $399, plus tax, back in 2015. I was a senior AND a member of Team Titleist. I got a great deal. It cost me $399, plus tax. :facepalm

Re: WTF did you buy today?

That tightening device is the Boa feature. If you want to feel like you are in a ski boot that was custom fit, the Boa option is a good idea. However, the pump looks kinda silly to me. I don't have that feature on any of my shoes. I fit nicely into a plain old 11M Footjoy, no matter which model. Som...

Re: WTF did you buy today?

I will assume you want a model with cleats. Not one of the more sneakery looking designs. If I'm wrong about that then I can suggest those from what I know, but not as much from experience. I only wear spiked golf shoes. The kind that can be re-spiked. There are a bunch of different DryJoys Tour ava...

It's been nearly two weeks since I was interested in playing golf, or shot a decent score. Yes, I have played 5 or 6 times over the period, but have not really been all that excited about it. It seems I'm in another golf funk. Been playing like crap and for some reason, don't seem to care all that m...

I've been playing 3 or 4 days a week or more. (19 rounds in October.) Not posting much though. Bored with SG360 ever since I lost the option to post more specific stats when my subscription was up a few months back. Fairways, greens and putts are all I can track now. Since I keep my official scores ...

Re: Bunker Play

It depends on the sand. If it's somewhat firm, I would play it exactly as if I were hitting a pitch from a fairway. Trap the ball, don't try to pick it. This will usually work unless the sand is so soft that when you trap the ball, it digs in deeper. I will typically swing a touch more aggressively,...
