Re: WTF did you shoot today?

2nd 9 with new swing. I see a lot of potential just need practice. Shot 52 with 3 straight double pars to make me 12 over on those holes. 5 penalty strokes on those holes. Other than that I hit 4 of the other 6 greens. Had 2 3-putts. My irons when struck well were just painting the flagstick, just n...

Re: Another Rules question

Wow I've never seen someone take a gimmie in a tournament.

I frequently see people ground their putter on their line, play a ball that went into the woods as a lateral hazard instead of a lost ball (this one I require to be played properly), ground a club in a hazard.

Re: What's Your Scoring Range?

Bad rounds are poor ball striking, good rounds are good ball striking for me.

Re: What's Your Scoring Range?

80-90 but haven't had time to put in many rounds between finishing CPA, moving twice, changing jobs and dog surguries.

Last year 75-100

Re: Another Rules question

Also to be clear these are not "drinking tournaments" like scrambles, shambles, ect. In those I dont have any issue letting the rules be slightly bent by someone unknowingly who only plays golf 1 time a year.

The ones I'm talking about are individual tournaments that are semi serious.

Another Rules question

I quite often come into odd situations playing tournament golf in local minor tournaments (ex golfweek am-tour, golf channel am-tour, ect), that I'm not sure how to handle. Next year I plan on playing a lot more tournament golf. Mainly to meet people with a similar interest in a new area, and I like...

How do you practice?

As many of you know or realize, I spend way more time on the range than the course. It is hard for me to find 3-5 hours right now to spend but I do my best to keep my game sharp with 30-60min a day. As most of us know a good range session doesn't always translate to the course. So for me I try to pl...

Re: The What's For Breakfast Thread

Tell us more about this so-called yogurt. Also, how do you feel about oatmeal? What do you want to know about it? I eat what ever my wife buys me, dump it in a bowl pour a tablespoon or so of granola on it and eat it while my kid is eating captn crunch berries (quality parenting I know). I like oat...

Re: Toll Roads

I was so pissed at the downtown tunnel charging a toll but not having a toll both. I told my wife next time I'll just stop in front of the tunnel completely blocking traffic (1 lane both ways) until a cop shows up and say "Officer I was trying to find out where to pay the toll but can't find a toll ...

Re: The What's For Breakfast Thread

Mostly yogurt and granola, occasionally with some fruit. Maybe twice a month on the weekend I have pancakes or something like that. 7 is my satisfactory rating. Yogurt comes in lots of flavors, the granola gives it texture and it helps me loose weight. It isn't carb overload so I dont feel like goin...

Re: Toll Roads

Actually it may be worth it to just get an ez-pass. I have heard they work up and down the entire east coast. I dont have one and can't verify that but I was told that last week. It may be worth looking into.

Re: Toll Roads

There aren't too many toll roads in southern Virginia, at least not near VA Beach. There are some toll tunnels though. One is stupid because it doesn't have a toll booth. They just send you a $1.25 ticket in the mail if you don't have an ez-pass. The issue is if you pay late there is a $20 fee, whic...

Re: Bunker notes

It feels like the 50* gets hung up in the sand too easily, and the only way to hit the 46 is to pick it. It sounds like one of 2 issues. 1) The leading edge is contacting the sand first. (Not enough bounce, club closed at impact, ect) 2) your swing is too steep. This is exactly what was happening t...

Re: Preparing for the end of the world, 2015 edition

I'm generally pretty good with finding creative solutions to problems. You have to be if you take boats 30+ miles from shore as often as I have, because something will break almost every time, and occasionally those things are major. So I think I'd do ok. In other words "Ehh, I wouldn't worry about ...

Re: 2015 "Brooklyn Open"

I'd say it depends on the normal greens fees for that course.

If they are $100 then maybe its worth it. But it does seem like a miserable time.

Re: Give up on a club?

Guess I have a couple weeks to figure it out. I'm meeting a friend in Richmond on 9/28 and we'll likely play the blue tees. The course has a 470 yard par 4 from those tees. Looks like an amazing course, but may need to pull driver on a couple holes due to forced carries or to shorten the carry on my...

Re: Give up on a club?

I struggle with a two way miss with my driver. I was recently told that my backswing was too long and doing this leads to inconsistency in whether the face is open or closed. So I shortened my backswing and it worked and resulted in much better shot shaping - for about two weeks - so I'm still tryi...

Both my dad and I have bought clubs from there and completely agree. Very good is a massive understatement. You could wrap it in plastic and I'd think it were new.

Re: Non-OEM names Why or why not?

Global golf does a good job removing the fakes from my understanding. I assume it costs more than eBay but I'm not sure how much and it may be worth piece of mind that you just bought a titleist and not a titelist

Re: Give up on a club?

How many times are you hitting driver off the tee per round? vs. how many times do you have to hit driver off the tee per round? I don't ever feel like I HAVE to pull it unless it's just a super long par 4. I was known for pulling 4i on a 440 yard par 4 that always gave me fits in TN. I would hit 4...
