Re: Random thoughts

I thought there was a thread to talk shit about other golf forums, but couldn't find it. Oh well, I need to spend less time at golfwrx. Those people are so damn emotional and devoid of logic. You make a statement that simply says "it's possible" then they get their panties all knotted up trying to p...

Re: Putting out of longish grass

In certain situations I use to flip the putter toe down and pop a ball out of thick rough that way, and one time a plugged lie in a bunker. It doesn't work with my current putter though.

If only there was a kind of mat that could simulate muddy lies.
No shit, I hit all my other irons really well though. So that is good news.

Re: WTF did you buy today?

I got a new pair of shoes for x-mas. Footjoy sport something or other (contour replacements). I walked 18 holes yesterday in brand new shoes, and no blisters. Also everything stayed nice and dry on a very wet course.

Re: December Golf!!!

Shot 87 yesterday. It was very soggy and I realized I can't hit wedges out of mud. Ton's of fat shots, double chips, over compensated blades. Also they are redoing the bunkers so the ones that have been redone have brand new sand. It's not like any sand I've ever played from and it's very very heavy...

Re: WTF did you buy today?

Sorry I was just meaning a daily rate for a public course.

Example the course is $50 to play 18 holes. If you use a cart or not it's the same price.

Re: WTF did you buy today?

does anyone else have a course where there are no cart fees? The one right by my house is a flat fee per round. You can use a cart or not and there is no difference in price. I've never seen that before, but wondered how common it was.

Re: WTF did you buy today?

There is a goat track near me that offered free greens fees for 3 years for a one time fee of $175. You had to pay cart fees other than that no restrictions.

Re: WTF did you shoot today?

Kind of at a stopping point with the bathroom, but had the day off so that the countertop people could come and template. Decided to go play 9 holes before picking my son up from school. Shot 42 but was 2 over through 8. I hit the ball pretty well with my irons, but pretty poorly from the tee. To be...

Re: WTF did you buy today?

The wife has been wanting a new fan in my golf room. Looks like thanks to my lunch break she'll get her wish. WHAT HAPPEN So when I swing my mat slides forward a fraction of an inch. Typically the light is directly above my head (9 to 10 feet off the ground) which makes it way out of the swing arc....

Re: Getting out of a slump

I feel like clubproguy accidentally provided some good advice. Although my thought is firing my arms right after transition, not at impact.

Flip it.

Re: Getting out of a slump

So after warming up, I decided to hit back to back drives. The first one I tried to flip, cast and basically just get the club head to the ball before my hips started releasing. The second one I tried to "release my hips first" like you hear all the time. Also my goal was to hit them as hard as poss...

Re: On the golf DL

I'm glad yours is good. The one below is the CCE mat. It's basically top of the line and a 5' x 5' goes for north of $500 (well I think it's $399 at costco). From my research about half of the people get elbow/wrist injuries and half are fine. Probably related to shallow v vertical swing planes. It'...

Re: On the golf DL

Glad to see you are getting better. I know you said your mat is fine because it's a good one, but there are 2 things that cause issues from a mat. One is ground force due to bad padding, this is typical for cheap mats. The other is thick artificial grass that grabs the club head when you "take a div...

Re: Getting out of a slump

First I completely agree with starting the downswing with the arms. For me it's a thought of throwing the trail elbow at the ball. What I meant was the only way to physically"cast" a golf club is if you are in a stuck position. If your arms are in front of your chest it's pretty much impossible to f...

Re: Getting out of a slump

Let's be clear though "flipping" is the effect of a bad swing, not the cause. It's damn near physically impossible to flip your wrists if your arms are in front of your chest while rotating. You can only do it if your arms are way behind, or something else is out of sync. So there is no point in "fi...

Re: December Golf!!!

I hate to say it, but sometimes tendinitis is a long recovery period. I did a lot of research before buying a mat to hit balls off, because a lot of them cause elbow/wrist tendinitis. The recovery times for some of the people were pretty long with no golf activity (3-6 months). I hope that you heal ...

Re: Getting out of a slump

I love that drill when I get stuck, have you ever tried to intentionally cast and get it on video? I can't actually cast and flip the wrists, when I try it just looks like a well synced up swing.

I'm so jealous, although there is no chance someone is playing today in Virginia Beach. I'm getting to be about done with the bathroom remodel. Luckily there is light at the end of the tunnel.
