Re: WTF did you buy today?

Took the money I got for the Cobra driver and bought a Titleist 915F 5W. After putting my old Titleist 910 5W back in the bag last week and having good results with it, decided to try the latest version to date. Was gonna wait until the 917F comes out over the winter, but then I would have to pay ab...

Re: Sick of sucky scores

Jason, I DON'T disagree with you . I qualified my statement with: "It's a big 'if,' but if you can keep the ball in play from tee until you get near the green, breaking 90 is easy." and also "Be smart with your long game and irons which will limit penalties . Don't try shots with low probabilities o...

Re: Sick of sucky scores

Three ways to easily break 90: short game, short game, short game. It's a big "if", but if you can keep the ball in play from tee until you get near the green, breaking 90 is easy. You don't need distance to break 90, you need reasonable control over the golf ball off the tee and on approach. Then, ...

Re: Strictness of scorecard marking

At my old club, where I played many tournaments, scorecards were pre-marked by the committee with all relevant handicap info for each player. The only thing players had to mark was the score for each hole, for each competitor. At the end of the round, competitors made sure scorecards matched within ...

So update us BK, how are things with the back? Any diagnosis and/or prognosis yet? Been wondering how you are doing. Honest, I have been worried about you. Hoping you are not out of action for any length of time. Get better soon.

Terry Koehler out as President/CEO at Ben Hogan Golf

Just read the story. Says he is semi-retiring.

Also said they have plans for a Tour staff and that it should be more affordable now that Nike is folding up golf shop.

Re: WTF did you shoot today?

I was there a couple months ago, myself. Lost interest for a few weeks. I got it back after a two week break, for the most part. Except driver. (Needed a lesson to help that.) I'm sure the oppressive heat had a lot to do with today's performance. I had trouble scoring today in 96* heat and humidity ...

Re: Random golf thoughts

TPC should be in great shape right now. I, too, have been to many Travelers Championships there when I lived in Connecticut, but have never played it. Always wanted to. They had a member-for-a-day deal a couple years back. It was somewhere in the $150-200 range if memory serves. I couldn't justify i...

Was never a believer in chiropractors, but I finally found one I trust, who absolutely knows what he is doing. If you popped a disc out of whack, you may need a few days for the inflammation to go down before anyone can touch it. After that, if you have a good chiro---one that you really trust---I w...

Just replaced my Scotty Cameron Pistolini on my Newport 2 with a SC Matador Midsize. Been putting markedly better since the change. Hands much more stable/less involved in the stroke. Very happy with the change.

Next will be Bridgestone E6. The E6 is a really good mid-level ball. However, consider the E5 if you would like better control with your shorter clubs around the green. They are one of only a couple mid-level balls on the market with a urethane cover, something you typically only find on a Tour-lev...

Re: WTF did you shoot today?

Played my home course and had to play the back 9 twice I do this on occasion at my home course as well, particularly when I play in the evening in the summer. The back nine will often get clogged up with all the people who went out after 5pm to get the really cheap bargain rate. When this happens, ...

Re: Random golf thoughts

Fucking short game. I played what I thought was a pretty tight round. Hit it well off the tee. Didn't suck at putting, didn't suck at approaches, but short game 'strokes gained' stat was worse than ever. Only fucked up a couple of chips, just the accuracy from within 100 yds is killing me. Most of ...

Well, surprise, surprise! Just got finished playing my first round since the lesson. Shot a 79, my best score in weeks, and was only partially able to get the new swing working on all shots. But I tried. Could definitely feel a difference, and as good as my iron ballstriking was before the lesson, I...

Re: About to Finally Take THE Step

I finally had the lesson. Good news and bad news. The good news is according to the pro, I have a perfect set up and a very good swing in general, but my weight transfer is lacking due to a bit of reverse pivot. (Damn Stack & Tilt ruined me a few years ago, even though I have tried so hard to get aw...

Re: With which company do you think Tiger will go?

Odds on UA buying up some of Nike's golf hard goods stuff? Doubtful. UA is strong the way they are. They don't need hard goods. Certainly not Nike Golf hard goods. Nike only managed to get 3% of market share with Tiger, Rory, and Michelle. Now, if and when Adidas cuts their price on TM, maybe UA mi...

Re: With which company do you think Tiger will go?

There are rumblings that Bob Parsons of PXG is interested in forming an affiliation of some sort with Nike Golf soft goods. It would be a good way for PXG to get deeper into the game. Evidently, this decision by Nike to get out of hard goods was a well-kept secret. Most of their reps were let go yes...

Re: With which company do you think Tiger will go?

I find it hard to believe any company will sign Tiger until he can actually play golf. His name is still big but fading fast. I agree he is not the golfer he was and will never be that guy again. He may never play competitively again. However, from a marketing perspective, his image alone would be ...

With which company do you think Tiger will go?

I'm thinking Cobra will make a huge run at him, though he always loved Titleist before Nike. Nike just made him an offer he could not refuse. Now that he has more money than God, I think he may go back to Titleist. Cobra would make him a big offer, but Titleist might get him for less. What about Mic...
