Re: Winter Golf Tip

DougE, you should retire your pegleg and captain's pipe and be a Titleist sales rep. Can I use you as a reference on my Titleist Employment Application? (I have a buddy in my regular foursome who has suggested the same thing. He thinks I'm gonna get him a new set of clubs when I get the job. )

Re: Long iron/hybrid question

I have a 25* 5 iron, and a 23* hybrid. Loft really doesn't affect distance as much as the differences between the two in shaft length, head design and shaft material. Most important though, is the quality of your ball striking. I get about 10 yards difference between the two, on average. With all th...

Re: Winter Golf Tip

Try hand warmer packs inside Titleist or Footjoy Cart Mittens between shots. Works like a charm. You can even leave your golf glove on. Plenty of room. If you aren't worried about breaking the rules, bring a ball inside the mitten too. Put one inside with each hand. Without the hand warmers, it's wi...

Re: Beef, this Ben's for you.

... I put in a cavity back 3i last year and that for me constitutes a massive change. Ah, yes, the case of the missing 3-iron. Do you shy away from using the substitute or is it a full member of the team? Not just that, it has led me to realize that I should be playing all cavity back long irons. :...

Ben's, Bud's, whatever. Being such a big fan of Ben Hogan, I really think you should try these Beef. http://www.benhogangolf.com/prioritypreference I have been following them since Terry K. announced on oob that he was taking over the brand and like the sound of a lot of the rhetoric I have heard an...

Woke up to -7 degrees this morning. Yes, that's a minus sign! -23 with wind chill factor. Supposed to be in the 40s and rain on Tuesday, and in the 50s next weekend. Go figure.

All I gotta say about that outfit is, if you wear something like that, you damn well better have a real good game to back it up.

(I do kinda like it though.)

Re: February Golf!!!!!

Looks like next week could be the winner of February. Forecast for mid-40s, or better here in CT. Headed back home to MD on Tuesday where there might even be a 50* sighting. Unfortunately, we still have to deal with this coming weekend forecast of single-digits and teens. Hang in there. We'll get th...

Re: The apocalypse has arrived

Loud music/noise-making of any sort on a golf course is a sign of being oblivious to others or having no respect for other people's space. It is typical of the new "me-generation." IMO, in addition to being disrespectful to others, it is also disrespectful to the game.

Team Titliest, and an awesome group of slo-mo videos you'll enjoy, for sure.

As many of you know, I have been a die-hard Titleist guy for a number of years. I joined Team Titleist (T/T) shortly after I started playing their clubs in 2008 or 2009. It's a "private club" available to virtually any Titleist player who wants to sign up. A lot like LegitimateGolf is available to a...

Re: Scot saying. Nae wind, nae rain, nae golf.

I did kinda enjoy watching the pros have such a hard time. It was like watching so many of us on normal days. That 69 of Sneds yesterday was unbelievable in those conditions. I expect another good round from him next week. Even today (Monday), with the conditions not even half as bad as yesterday, t...

Back from a solid 8 days of snow removal hell. Good to see you guys again. I was a bit worried you had driven into a snow bank and we would hear from you until March! Most of the snow has to be going, right? We have virtually -0- snow cover and I am really thinking about dragging the bag out of the...

From my joint to Frederick, MD for example is 4 1/2 hours. So, I'd leave Friday, play Saturday and come home Sunday morning. I've done something similar for BBQ so for golf, it's fine. ETA: I thought it said VA/MD border, not VA/NC border. If it was closer to TN, I'd be in, but the further east the...

So I got in 45 holes in January. Shot +24, with 7 birdies. All in all not a bad month. After seeing yours, I had to go back and check my rounds for the month. The way the month started, I was expecting about 7 or 8 rounds might be possible, but that quickly fell apart once the cold, then blizzard s...

Re: (Lob) Wedge

In a lob wedge you can absolutely play the firm. I play regular as well. But all my wedges are stiff. My new wedges I am planning to buy in March will likely be wedge flex (which is stiff, and the norm in off the rack wedges) in the sand wedge and lob wedge. I will play a shaft in my 50* gap wedge t...
