Re: WTF did you buy today?

Congrats and interesting - my image of Bridgestone clubs is that they are more of a player's irons for much better players than any of us Not sure I agree. We have a lot of good players here at LG, including yourself. Anyone who has a repeatable, controlled swing and decent swing speed can successf...

Re: WTF did you buy today?

You will need different grinds, not all the same. It depends on the types of shots you want to hit. And how steep your swing normally is. Also, the typical conditions of the courses you regularly play. I use Vokey SM7s. A 50.08F, a 54.10S and a 58.12D. I use all three wedges for full swing shots as ...

Re: WTF did you buy today?

Bridgestone actually offers some nice irons. I have hit my club pro's who is a Bridgestone rep. I got some great results on the launch monitor. Of course it was inside off a mat last winter and not out on the course, but they did feel nice and gave me similar numbers to my own AP2s (of which I was f...

Re: 2018 summer support group

Yup, I wore long pants and a light rain jacket yesterday. It rained into late Saturday afternoon, then hard all through Saturday night and into Sunday afternoon. The course was looking like the postponed BMW at Aronimink did on TV. Bunkers were full of standing water. Fairways loaded with casual wat...

-8, 62. A great start. He looked good. Unfortunately, Rors is looking damn good too. Interestingly, they played a practice round together a day or so ago.

Re: The Grumble Thread

A fivesome in front of you, no matter how quickly they may be playing, still adds to your frustration on a slow-play day. Instead of waiting to finally play your shot after waiting for four people to have hit theirs in front of you, you have to wait even longer. In my opinion, fivesomes are just WRO...

Re: The Grumble Thread

Oh it impacted them. Even if it wasn't actually your fivesome that was slowing things up, when you are waiting, and behind a fivesome, you are ready to explode! (At least, I am.) NO FIVESOMES Goddammit!

He's a Captain's pick for the Ryder Cup, along with Phil and Bryson DeChambeau (ugh). I can put up with Bryson if he plays the lights-out golf he played the last two weeks.

Re: WTF did you buy today?

John, I too, used to feel the same way you do, until I found a guy who knows what the hell he is doing. Very reputable. The problem with chiropractors is that many are not that knowledgeable and some are scammers. Those types ruin the image of the whole lot of them. When I was having some major uppe...

Re: WTF did you buy today?

So, after reading all the reviews and high-praise testimonials I bit the bullet and bought a MISIG training device. (Most Important Stretch In Golf. https://feelthestretch.com) I took advantage of the "special" $74 rate. They have been sending me marketing materials on and off ever since I checked o...

Re: Just Keep Swimming

I often have to check myself too. When things start going sour, it usually has something to do with over-swinging. It's easy to fix on the range. Not so much when it counts on the course. I find my best swings (and best results) come from nice, easy, rhythmic swings, in tempo, as if no ball is sitti...

Re: WTF did you shoot today?

Wow, a green hit (well, fringe hit---close enough) in under regulation, yet a 10 and a 12 on two other holes in the same round. Golf gods were really screwing with you!

Who walks around with bolt cutters that large in an area where no one typically goes, except someone who has seen that bike sitting there regularly in the past. Someone from that building would not surprise me. I'm guessing there are no cameras back there, but might there be any elsewhere in the vic...

Re: Just Keep Swimming

Beef, try this. It works for me whenever I start fading the ball more than a touch. I use it mostly with driver swings, but sometimes use a similar method with other longer clubs when I am hitting them off the ground. (A draw is my natural iron ball flight, but some days, things aren't always natura...

Re: The Grumble Thread

I agree. Most Korean women around here are not usually that slow either (though most Korean men are excessively slow, particular on the greens), but this group of women had already lost touch with the rest of the outing. They were at least two holes behind. It could be why they were the last group i...

Re: The Grumble Thread

It's not private. It a top-tier, daily fee public course with membership options, but no option to keep others from paying and playing if they have the cash and, one would hope, the game. Unfortunately the latter isn't always something they have. And etiquette, IMO, is a big part of the game.

Re: The Grumble Thread

As I mentioned in the WTF Did You Shoot Today? thread, I had a good round going yesterday until we ran into a Korean women's outing who was finishing up on the 15th green when we pulled up to the tee. Up until that point, I was playing some good golf. They took me out of my rhythm the rest of the wa...

Re: WTF did you shoot today?

Played well until running into the backside of a Korean women's outing on the 16th (who were 9 holes ahead when we started). It ruined the good rhythm I had been working with all day. Still carded a 79 (38/41), but was only 3 over after 14. Played the first 15 holes in about two hours. It took anoth...

Re: Random golf thoughts

It could be: B. You have subconscious issues with Bernie idolizing you and are uncomfortable with his reverence. That may be part of it. Maybe because I think HE expects me to play much better than him. I don't want to disappoint him. I'm sure, subconsciously (or possibly consciously) I want him to...

Re: Random golf thoughts

I'm thinking the opposite - you probably are putting too much pressure on yourself to play better since you know you should be +8 shots. I started feeling that way about one of my friends in NJ before I left. It seemed like I was always playing below my normal game when I was with him. Granted his ...

Re: Random golf thoughts

Doug, maybe you are becoming a bit complacent with your own game, expecting an easy win by 7-8 strokes as you say and in turn fail to focus adequately on your own shots. Things like club selection, target selection, aiming accuracy and even swinging (slower swing, coming out of the shot earlier, et...

At least 10Xs a summer. Probably more like 25Xs during the year. I also play 150+ rounds without him. And not that I don't have the occasional poor round when I'm not playing with him, but it's uncanny how often I play poorly with him, particularly over the last few months. It's like I get the yips,...
