Re: 2018-2019 Winter Support Group

No golf today, as I had hoped. Cold front came through with a vengeance. Now temps are dropping fast and wind is gusting over 30 mph. A totally saturated course, with feels-like temps in the 20s, at best, and gale force winds is not at all appealing to me right now, since I'm already trying to shake...

Re: 2018-2019 Winter Support Group

I also listen to the PGA Golf channel a lot on Sirius. And have listened to two golf psychology audio books while I'm driving as well. Both written and narrated by Dr. Bob Rotella, though I have listened to both of them at various other times as well. I've heard them both now, at least 5 or 6 times ...

Re: Just Keep Swimming

I don't think 34 yards is low. But it isn't high either.

Re: 2018-2019 Winter Support Group

My mom IS cool. I just wish we could get her to stop rearranging the furniture around in her new place by herself. Like I said, she doesn't think she's old. When she drives her car behind a retiree she'll complain about old people who drive so slow. She and my sister drove up to Connecticut when she...

Re: Just Keep Swimming

36 ft apex is low. I am assuming that is what it means by "Height." Or is it specified in yards? Normally apex is stated in feet.

Re: Just Keep Swimming

Shoulda saved that one for the course!

Very low trajectory and spin. Surprised you didn't get more roll.

Re: 2018-2019 Winter Support Group

So, this is officially the longest forced layoff I have had since I blew out a gastrocnemius muscle (calf) in November of 2016. It's been 18 days since I was on the course. Feels like an eternity. Today is going to be near 50, but pouring rain all morning. It was 5 degrees here 3 days ago. Most of t...

Re: 2019 PGA Tour thread

There are likely millions out there who end up on their back foot who should actually try to swing like Choi. They'd probably get better results than they do slicing the ball.

Re: 2019 PGA Tour thread

My money says he doesn't make the cut.

Either way, when they replay his swing I think they should add cha cha music to it.

Re: Everyone remember Dusty?

I have replied to his email with excitement from all of us, and am quite hopeful he'll come join us, both over here and on the Grint. Whether he does or doesn't, I am just happy to hear he made it through his tough times and seems to be doing well. I'm glad you brought it up Brian.

Re: Everyone remember Dusty?

Great News! He's doing well! He replied back to my email within hours. He said it was okay to share: Hi Doug, I am doing real well, health wise, my golf game went south after my illness. I am still trying to get the body back (which is a struggle against age too) but bad habits creeped in and have t...

Re: January Golf!

Duke, funny, before you sent that link, I had looked around for leather grips, just to see what's new and available. Turns out, I had already decided BestGrips seemed to offer some of the best options. I thought the infused tackiness compound was interesting. I'm curious as to feedback in the hands....

Re: Everyone remember Dusty?

I have often wondered myself, what happened to Dusty. I spoke with him a lot, back in the Oob, and even SG, days. Not only in forums, but we PM'ed back and forth too about Titleist stuff, usually. His notes on his Oob/SG360 rounds sometimes sounded as if he was speaking to me directly. We actually s...

Re: January Golf!

It's below zero right now, and yet I still harbor hope for playing later in the week. Yes, golf. Yes, outside. Yes, in New York. You just never know with the stupid weather these days. Supposed to be in the mid 40s here in Central MD on Wednesday, with rain. It's super cold right now. Feels below z...

Re: January Golf!

I have leather grips and although they were expensive, they're very durable and grippy. I don't think I'll have to replace them for a long time. Doug - have you tried leather? Maybe try one on a spare club or something. They install a little differently than rubber, btw. I have tried leather. I was...

Re: Last few holes at the Desert

If not for a less than mediocre putting day, Phil would have won by a lot. I enjoyed seeing him compete at 48 years old with guys half his age (and outdrive most of them). He said he was rusty. I hope I'm half that rusty when I can finally get back out there. In the end, Adam Long, played wonderfull...

On the afternoon agenda - clean clubs and consider replacing grips.
No consideration necessary. Just replace the things. You play enough. If it's been more than a couple months, it's time.

Looks like you may be getting some snow yourself over the weekend. And, the forecast cold ain't good either way, so I'm glad you are getting out there again. I have a feeling it will be peaceful out there for you today.

Re: January Golf!

I am assuming you mean just the dog took a shit outside. But it read differently to me.

I'd play if I were you. You may just end up sharing the course with a cute young lady golfer. That wouldn't be all that bad.

Re: WTF did you buy today?

One of those three guys uses it for many different yardages. He just chokes down to whatever distance he needs. He sucks with his irons, but can put a 7W to 145 yards or 175 yards with ease. He has marks on his grip for where to place his hands for each distance. We all joke about every shot he hits...

Re: WTF did you buy today?

I know three guys off the top of my head who play 7Ws who feel they couldn't play the game without them. Very versatile alternative to a hybrid and easy to hit. High flight, soft landing.

Re: WTF did you buy today?

First off Gavin, let me say, I'm impressed with your distances. Jealous actually. Mine are shorter, for sure. Secondly, I have gone through these club-gapping dilemmas many times before. In fact, there always seems to be a gap somewhere bigger or smaller than I would like. However, I have realized t...
