Re: What did you shoot today?
Another so so round yesterday, 80/+3/8.6 that was a prime example of my recent woes. Had a nice front nine where I was +3 despite throwing two stokes away by being too aggressive - I can't seem to understand that aggressive play doesn't work there. Then went +5 over four holes that included two wild...

Re: What did you shoot today?
For whatever reason today seemed better even the score was just average (81/+9/9.4) and the beneficiary of several long made putts. I think I just had a better mindset. It rained hard overnight so the course was mushy and the wind was +20 mph, so anything close to normal wasn't too bad. Plus played ...

Re: Things From The Golf Course
New hazard by the 18th green today:
Here's a better look:
When I lined up my putt, he was looking straight at me. Too unnerving - moved my ball six feet left for the first time - then sank the 25 footer.- Tue Jan 02, 2024 11:09 am

Re: Wrap Up - 2023
Sorry to hear Doug. Injuries, especially for us in the 60+ set, are hard to get over. Even worse, if the sport is an integral part of our lives we tend to rush back too quickly which can lead to poor performance and/or more physical woes. Here's hoping that you can play without pain soon and then I ...

Re: 2023-24 Winter golf support group thread
Please nobody move to the very westernmost edge of your timezone just to get some extra twilight holes in. It is a devil's bargain. Not a lot of people know this. But whatever extra daylight you get at the end of the day, you lose from the morning. Totally agree, as much as I hate the early ...

Re: Best Shot of the Month
Towards the end of one of my worst golf scores in years - +17 over par despite having 9 GIR's. A round that included the following: - 5 looks at birdie under 10 feet. Every putt looked in three feet from the hole - no birdies - A wedge from 60 yards one hopped into the pin, then bounced 30 feet from...

Re: PGA/LIV/DPW 2023
Pro golf is mainly about money matters at this point. I cannot really think of anything more boring. I prefer to keep a positive outlook. That is to say, we have had an extremely good run, better than any golf-on-tv watcher could reasonably have hoped for. It is the kids today that I pity. They are...

Re: Higher Launch Angle for 2030 Reduced Distance Balls??
I believe, probably incorrectly, that the USGA/R&A know some secret science and this is going to impact big fast swinging people and not us normal people, or if it does, it will impact us so little that we won't notice. I'll be 66 in 2030, so I can move up a tee and blame the ball change and wha...

Re: 2023-24 Winter golf support group thread
The older I get the more I hate the four month period from falling back to springing forward. Just don't like the darkness, particularly at the end of the workday. I moved south to get away from the cold, but I still have to deal with the darkness. Not sure where to move next.

Re: Anyone Use the 6-8-10 Formula for Chipping ...
I assume that this is similar to the rule of 12. I’ve tried to use the rule of 12 over the years but I’ve never been satisfied with the results. I think the issue is that I’m either uncomfortable or just not very good with chipping with an iron whereas I chip well with a wedge. I generally use my 54...
