Re: What did you shoot today?

82, playing preferred lies through the green and in sand bunkers. 32 (f) degrees with a 17-20 mph breeze made it a tad uncomfortable for the first three holes. Then I warmed up and found the stroll very pleasant.

Wrap Up - 2023

Looking back at 2023, it was a sort of Meh kind of year. I had some good rounds and of course several disasters. Most of the rounds were sort of okay but nothing special. Round count was 103, better than 2022 at least in volume. My raw unadjusted scoring average was once again right around 81 (81.4 ...

Exactly, if the two of us are still able to play in 2030, distance won't be our most pressing issue. Getting our walker out of the golf cart will be the big problem. :D

Re: 2023-24 Winter golf support group thread

I moved south to get away from the cold, but I still have to deal with the darkness. Not sure where to move next. As far west as possible within any time zone. Further south in the time zone would help too, as long as you are in the northern hemisphere, which you would be anywhere in the States. El...

Re: PGA/LIV/DPW 2023

It seems like the "peace treaty" between the Tour and LIV has opened the door for big pay days and more defections to LIV.

Re: 2023-24 Winter golf support group thread

We got in a round on Pearl Harbor Day. I played like crap but it was nice to very occasionally hit a golf ball well on a cool December day. We were the first ones out so it was really nice to play efficiently. We hope to play again on 12/15. Weather looks to be acceptable (45 degrees, sunny, little ...

Higher Launch Angle for 2030 Reduced Distance Balls??

The USGA/R&A have announced a new formula for measuring the distance a golf ball may go (aka as "The Rollback). The proposed reduction will have a minimal effect on my 83-mph driver swing. If I am still playing in 2030, it might be helpful if I work on hitting the driver higher. That should...

Re: Grumble Thread

New "grumble". The Minister and I both tested positive yesterday. I thought we both had colds. The silver lining for me is that it's going to blow a few things up at my work, which might actually show them that they shouldn't have laid off as many people as they did. Was there something t...

Golf Ball Distance Rollback

"...Now, the new roll back will likely come with a period of variance in play with elite professionals using a shorter golf ball than those playing recreationally. Within two years all golf balls conforming to the Rules of Golf will reportedly be at least 15 yards shorter at the elite level. T...
