Re: PGA/LIV/DPW 2023
Pro golf is mainly about money matters at this point. I cannot really think of anything more boring. I prefer to keep a positive outlook. That is to say, we have had an extremely good run, better than any golf-on-tv watcher could reasonably have hoped for. It is the kids today that I pity. They are...

Re: Higher Launch Angle for 2030 Reduced Distance Balls??
I believe, probably incorrectly, that the USGA/R&A know some secret science and this is going to impact big fast swinging people and not us normal people, or if it does, it will impact us so little that we won't notice. I'll be 66 in 2030, so I can move up a tee and blame the ball change and wha...

Re: 2023-24 Winter golf support group thread
The older I get the more I hate the four month period from falling back to springing forward. Just don't like the darkness, particularly at the end of the workday. I moved south to get away from the cold, but I still have to deal with the darkness. Not sure where to move next.

Re: Anyone Use the 6-8-10 Formula for Chipping ...
I assume that this is similar to the rule of 12. I’ve tried to use the rule of 12 over the years but I’ve never been satisfied with the results. I think the issue is that I’m either uncomfortable or just not very good with chipping with an iron whereas I chip well with a wedge. I generally use my 54...

Re: Things From The Golf Course
At my courses the red tees are the back tees. You shouldn't play the red tees, as this guy pointed out:

Things From The Golf Course
Being on a coastal island my new community has lots of wildlife and lots of interesting marsh birds. Of course, it’s these guys who get the most attention; IMG_1007.jpeg Saturday I saw this guy flying over me. Pretty cool: IMG_1094.jpeg Saw him again on Sunday and something was dangling from his tal...

Re: How you feel about the impact of golf on the environment/ecology
I have to agree with BK. There are many if not most leisure pursuits which are not environmentally friendly in some way. That said, golf courses need to keep improving their practices, especially when it comes to water usage and the thought of a golf course in an area where water is scarce does conc...

Always enjoy these BK.

Re: What did you shoot today?
After showing signs of snapping out of it I went right back into slumping bad ball striking mode this weekend. 39 (Good!), 82, 81 - 45 official holes, only 13 GIR's despite having a short iron or wedge on almost every hole. On the flip side, my short game is totally rocking. 14 up and downs in 45 of...

Re: Stories of Golf Happiness
I forgot a story of golf happiness. For years Mrs. Bogey has occasionally accompanied me for Sunday golf. During this time she has shown little interest in practicing or even keeping score, despite me telling her she has potential. The ladies in our new location, seeing that she’s a good athlete, ha...
