I don't think Cee Bee has to worry about your sister holding things up for him. He will just treat her as one more minor obstacle to his shooting a great score.

Looks like my sister has a good group to get started with. Her friend is married to a guy who is a Golf Pro at a local course (I'll find out which one) but who also is a playing pro. Started out playing professionally, then switched to club/teaching situation, is now again doing some playing in senior events. Anyway, sounds like a good group to be out with.

We went to the sales this morning (wasn't crazy I must say). She got a pretty nice nice bag for 25% off. It was a house brand Maxfli type at Dick's but it really had the best features I thought for the $. I gave her an older but nice Odyssey putter which I got from our dad, which I think she was excited about since it was his. The other 13 clubs her friend is giving her, saw a pic looks like Callaway X19 type. Ladies model. She's excited. We shoulda got a Callaway bag to have a matching set but didn't get the pic until we left the store...

Not to worry my friend. She won't hold me back. Poolesville is an easy course to get by the 'newbies'.

So, i made an impulse buy yesterday. I saw an email come through from RockBottomGolf with some good looking deals, and i'm in need of some wedges. I've had Scratch wedges for years, but the company has gone under.

The wedges i ended up going with were the TaylorMade Tour Preferred ATV Wedges; a 56 and a 60 (those are the most worn out for me). I checked out some reviews and spoke with a friend of mine and these are supposed to be great. Crossing my fingers a bit here, but really can't wait to get them in play. Oh, and they were $60 each, then i found a 5% coupon, and shipping was free. So overall, not a huge investment. If they are good though, i'll need to swap the shafts out since i have DG Spinners.

Nice.

What bounces are they & do you have a gap wedge in there between your Pw & your new 56'?

Actually, not sure on the bounce yet; there was no option. But at this price i'll be able to re-sell them if needed. I prefer the most bounce available.

As of now, i still have a Scratch 50* gap wedge for that in-between yardage (115-120?).

So did more research on the ATV wedges this weekend. With the ATV grind, there is no bounce option. The grind is supposed to be optimized for any shot. It's also very well suited for those who like to open up the wedge, which i do.

They came in yesterday and are really nice looking. They also come with KBS Tour V shafts which was a pleasant surprise (can you tell i'm more of a feel golfer? I don't even research my own clubs...). I can't wait to get these on the course; should be able to make it out Saturday morning.

Coda, I use these http://www.flex-head.com/. Their customer service is #1. If you break one (only 5 have been broken in over 40,000 tees sold, mine was one) they'll replace it, for life. I just sent it back with a note and they sent me back 3 replacements.

If I like these cheap ones I will eventually grab those. I kinda threw these on my amazon order to bump over the $35 dollar mark, making shipping free.

Nice on the Game Golf. That's a pretty good deal.

Also, I might buy some of those flex tees when I run through my box of 1000 wooden ones.

I got my Almost Golf Balls. Hit 'em all over the house & didn't break anything. Used the cat as a target, never hit target. Guess I DO need to practice. Flex tees came in but I haven't even opened 'em yet.

Game Golf is due to arrive tomorrow.

I bought a Nike belt of RockBottomGolf today. I got some coupon code for $20 free bucks, no min buy. Bought the $20 belt for $0 but paid only the $5.99 to ship it.

I technically did not buy it, and it really is an xmas present from my mom, but I got a new bagboy quad plus push cart to replace the one that got ran over a couple of months ago.
I will stand in the fairway, I want to be out of your range.

I wish I had spent a little extra money on my push cart.

I went with the cheapest reasonable one. It was around $60-70, and I like how well it does its core functions (securing the bag, rolling, and folding up). But it doesn't have much storage. I wind up using my golf bag for extra storage. Having it on the cart would be nicer. I may build some add-on's when I run out of the list of house crap to do.

Maybe next November I'll accidentally run mine over too :D

I have the Clicgear 3.0 & love it. The only problem over 2 years is the band that holds the pencil broke... but they sell a replacement one for a few bucks. I just need to go online & buy it.

Some tips for you that help the device work well.

1) Do your best to always tag your club, although this will be hard until it just becomes part of your preshot routine (3-4 rounds for me).
2) Always bend over to get your ball out of the hole. It has some algorithm that basically says the flag is located where you bend over while on the green after tagging your last putt. So if you have a 3" tap in and scoop the ball with your putter it may not have a good idea where the hole is.
3) when editing putts try to be as accurate as possible with the putt distance (they just added this feature, unfortunately its in yards). 1st putt distance is the key to 3/4 of the strokes gained stats.
4) Follow jasonfish11.

This last one is probably the most important.
5) When reviewing your round review each shot to verify it is correct. I'm not sure why but I've been dead center of the FW before and it has me as a missed FW. I've also missed the FW and it has had me in the FW. So be diligent in paying attention to your stats when you are reviewing. You CAN NOT edit a round after it is signed.

Also if you are like me and take a ton of practice swings off to the side between other peoples shots, make sure to edit your round ASAP because it will record those as untagged swings. You'll have to remember that they weren't real swings at the ball and delete them.

Wait, what? I thought that you had to tag the club to record a shot with GameGolf. Does it have some kind of gyro-thing like Arccos?

yes

It makes your life easier when editing if you tag the club. But it recognizes full swings when you dont tag them. It does have some type of algorithm that prevents any practice swing with in 30 seconds of a tag from being recorded though.

It also uses the gyro to recognize where the pin placement is, which is why I recommend always bending over to pick the ball out of the hole.

One more thing I've noticed. Make sure you are standing still when you tag your clubs. Which sounds dumb, but I tended to tag it while walking past my putt, and it would be off by 5-10 feet because I was moving.
