Huron Hills dates back to the early part of this century so the greens are small and typically built up from the surrounding turf.
Whoa, so Huron Hills is a fairly new course?

Today's the last day of the month, so this is my best of February. And the subsequent putt that resulted from it would have been my best putt of the month if not for a couple inches.

Par 5, 9th hole, 215-yard 3W 2nd shot from a downhill lie (my least favorite type of lie) from wet/soft fairway, over hazard, onto green for my first realistic 1-putt attempt at eagle in quite some time. Maybe since last spring, actually. Sent off an awesome 40' eagle putt, up a steep slope, over a ridge and onto a nearly unstoppable downhill slope with the pin high up on that slope. I had the speed and line nearly perfect. Ball settled 2 inches from the hole for a tap-in bird.

Birdied the same hole yesterday too.

I don't recall anything great for the month, but I had a nice chip-in birdie from the left side of the green, nearly pin high (but on the far side, so lots of roll to the pin), with a sidewinder. I clipped the ball perfectly, landed it on my spot and watched it hit the slope, bounce right, start rolling towards the hole and finally nestle against the pin. Shake the flag a little and it's in. :banana
I'm gonna go low this time...

Nice, Doug E. It's always a great feeling to be putting for eagle.

So true, even though Doug seems to think I hit Dr/wedge on all par 5s. I might be lucky if I see an eagle putt once every 10 rounds. And I usually can go for 2 to 3 par 5s a round if I hit good drives.

I guess that was another good sequence of shots in my last round.

I cut a driver perfectly on a dog leg right par 5. Hit 4i to 30'.

Then I ran the eagle putt 6' past and wound up making the birdie.

So first time out this month but have my hole if not my shot. Qualifier, short par 5 (460 yards) and good wind behind me, but had my first par 5 eagle. Huge wind aided drive, must have been 280+, 6i to the green that almost hit the flag, sank a putt from 20 feet. Next hole was a short par 3 - 2 feet for a birdie. Not expecting to top those two holes anytime soon.

Nice. Next up we should hear about your eagle/eagle stretch.

I've actually watched my friend go eagle eagle once. And it was the 2/1 variety. Oddly he shot a better score on the back 9 after blowing up his next couple holes on the front.

Unbelievable but almost did again today. More legit par 5 - 477, no wind. Driver, 5W to 7 feet. Putt just slide over edge of hole. I seem to really be swinging in mid-season form. For starters, after years of practice I seem to finally be hitting my driver and 5W with relative consistency. Unfortunately, my short game is still stuck in winter.

Impressive. As much as Doug thinks I murder the ball, I've never eagled a par 5 (other than a scramble where we played all 3 of my shots). I've had 3 1-putt eagles on par 4s though. Someone explain that?

Evidently,....you MURDERED the ball to get it to the green in the first place on those par 4s!

Got it even a bit closer (by an inch) than the last one I bragged about earlier on this thread.

Friday the 13th. Par 3 6th, the signature hole at Worthington. 150 yds to pin, into a two club wind and the sun. Grabbed my Titleist AP3-718 5 iron, my typical 170+ yard club. The group behind us just pulled up to the tee for a little added pressure. Knew I hit it flush and dead on the target line, but as it bore so cleanly through the 15-20 mph wind, I felt sure it was going to fly right over the flag and even be over the green. Looking into the sun, couldn't see it land.

2" from blowing through a few hundred bucks in the bar. Phew! Dodged a bullet there.

Still aceless after so many close calls.
