I know, everyone is probably playing Pro V1, because they have the $$$ to advertise it.
What is everyone else playing?
White or Colored?
I'm still playing Titleist Pro V1s. Been playing them for the past 7 or 8 years. Right now, I only play the 2015/2016 version. The new 2017 version, of which I was selected to test last season by Titleist, will be out in February. I have 4 dozen with my custom markings ready to be ordered as soon as they are released. I am very comfortable with the Pro V1 and like it a little better for my game than the Pro V1x. At the beginning of last year I switched back to the V1x after playing the Pro V1 for a few seasons. But I think I play better with the V1 overall, so I started playing them again during the season and am going back to them as my everyday ball this year.
I have tried the new low cost, Costco Kirkland Signature Tour ball and found it to be a really good ball. Similar to the Pro V around the green. I did not notice any more distance with them over the ProV, however playing them side by side a Pro V1 when playing two balls off the tee on some holes (out of season), there were times that the Kirkland went further, but I may have just put a better swing on it. Don't know. What I have noticed is that I am constantly 4-5 yards longer with a ProV vs. an NXT Tour or DT TruSoft, both of which I play in the winter from time to time. I played a TruSoft today. They are really nice for a 2-piece ball. I like them for the yellow color in winter. I have played the NXT Tour in yellow as well. When the course is in regular season conditions, I would rather play a Pro V. I can control it better than the others around the green. There are probably other balls that offer better distance, but not enough to make it worth it to give up what I know and trust around the green.
Another great, low-priced, high quality ball is the MG-C4 Tour. 20 bucks a dozen. Only the Kirkland is less money and as good or better. I spent a bunch of time playing them in 2015 alongside my ProVs and can't find any negative to them. Very good Tour quality ball.
I am quite interested to try some of these new Volvik Tours, just to see how they feel. Though they are all over the LPGA Tours, now that Bubba is going to be playing them on the PGA Tour, I imagine they will become a much bigger brand. And the color choices will surely appeal to many.
