After getting in 10 rounds of golf in January here in Maryland, it's not looking very good for the rest of the month and into February. On the few days that the forecast shows highs in the low 40s, the wind is supposed to blow mid-teens or higher. Damn! Well, it's only a forecast, and a long-term one at that. I will have my clubs ready and my long johns out, prepared for that first day that the forecast is wrong and the wind is only 7 or 8 mph.

Our buddy CeeBee, on the other hand, will surely be undeterred and out there slapping it around in 36 degree temps with gale force winds, breaking 80, wondering why he has the whole place to himself. And, since there is no one there to slow him down, He'll play 27 or 36, all for the $8 price he got on GolfNow. You da MAN Chris.

I got to play 4 holes this morning before work. Temp was perfect 39* slight wind.

Shot 1 over with a ball getting splashed on the super easy #2. This is the first time I've ever bogied #2 after a drive that missed to the right. I think my 3rd or 4th bogie ever on it.

Piped drive on #1 (275 to the ball wash next to 2nd set of tees, I was playing the 3rd tees. So probably 285). Ho hum lob wedge to 15' great stroke on the putt, but played 3" too much break, left it stone dead hole high though. Tap in par

Block slice drive on #2. Block slice 3w that splashed. Dropped it into a hole, wedge only got top half of the ball. Somehow rolled 75 yards onto the green about 25' away. Nearly rolled in that putt (looked good 3' out then broke up hill lol), again speed was perfect. Tap in bogie.

Cut the 5i on #8 (planned on hitting draw). Way too conservative on the chip. Left of the hole was a no-no, as it would roll down 15' away, so I was 8' right of the hole. Lipped out the par putt. Tap in bogie.

Another piped drive on #9 down the left side (left side is the only way for me to get home in 2). Left myself 260 to the hole and 225 to carry the water. I hit a good 3w (a little on the toe) that was coming down right on the flag stick. Hit the up slope 3 yards short of the green, had it hit the green I would have likely had an eagle putt from inside 10'. I chipped it to 2' and rolled it in for birdie.

All in all my total feet of putts made was about 3'5" :rofl
Keep it short stupid.

And that day came today, one day after thinking I was done for January. Turned out to be 45*. mostly sunny, and the wind died down to about 8 or 10 mph in the afternoon. Played 18 in about 2 hours. 11th round of the month. :yess There's still 3 days left in January. Is it possible to get to 12 rounds? Doubtful, supposed to be pretty cold the next few days, but the clubs are ready.

How many rounds did you play in June and/or July? I am not sure I hit double digits in most months. Well done! :nope

Though they all aren't recorded into my SG360 account, I show 14 days in June on my tracking calendar, and 19 in July. (And another 19 in August.) Even so, 11 rounds in January is more than I would have ever imagined getting, living in Maryland.

Hope to get a bunch more in February. I should be able to get at least a few. I am driving to Sarasota for my annual trip to Mom's (with my wife and pup). Planning to squeeze in 3 or 4 rounds while I'm there, depending on weather and family commitments.

I want to post in this thread more, but I'm never sure if it's appropriate. I.e. if I am able to play golf, do I really have a right to complain 'bout anything? In any case, clearly I can use some support here. My problem is I cannot get the ball in the hole lately.

Played today and it was pretty deep winter out there. Usually I'm okay but today my hands froze. I did a good job getting the ball up near the green consistently, even with the course playing really long. I'd blast a long club up near the fringe and feel good about my chances, but then fuck it all up from there with an out of touch chip followed by some rushed, shitty putting.

I should just enjoy this winter golf for what it is. So I failed to break 90 for the second straight round, so what. Doesn't necessarily mean that I suck. Let's wait until spring to decide about that.

You know what Beef? You're right. I've been gloating about how much golf I've been able to play in January. Obviously, I don't need support to get me through a golfless winter like so many others who are not so fortunate. So I'll move my next post about how I played my 12th freakin' round in January :yess to the January/February Golf board.

Everyone is having a golf-fest except me. Even GBogey has abandoned the icy north for F_L_A! Not getting a lot of support from everyone, just a bunch of "gee, we are so lucky to be playing and that old guy in the Icy Mitten, what's his name, just has to sit there and take it. Woo hoo!!!" :fkno

We got about an inch of snow today. A really annoying, douchey kind of snow. All flaky and fluttery and shit, GTFO out of my face with that. Trying to cock-block us from getting in some Februarygolf. But at least it didn't have much staying power on the ground. We'll be above freezing with some sun next couple of days, which hopefully could open things up for the end of this week.

Shoveled 4-5 inches of God's gift to Mitten dwellers this morning. :fkno

Now the watch begins. Will we get any days above freezing in the next 4 weeks? Will that fat rodent see his shadow on Thursday? Will the skies open up and dump several feet of snow on me to snuff out the tiny flame of golf enthusiasm?

Another inch or so of white poo to clean up prior to heading to work. I can't recall where I left my golf clubs but the shovel is handy. The 10 day forecast indicates we might creep above 32 degrees once or twice. The highlight will be in a week when we hit 39 degrees and get "ice pellets" as precipitation. :fkno

I have the winter fuckalls aka seasonal affective disorder aka sad! Lucky to be playing golf sure, but the cold air and short days still take their toll on the old mental health.

I have been diagnosed with SAD in years past. Seriously. My wife says she can tell when it kicks in every year. Certainly, the lack of daylight brings it on. Limited sunshine and being inside so much also contributes. Luckily this year, at least I am getting out to play, which helps. And now, I'm starting to see daylight lasting an extra 15 minutes every week. So, I'm starting to get better. Only a couple months until we change the clocks for DST. I'll be a new man then.

It is time once again for the annual "Where's Bkuehn?" meeting. I think it's been established that the Mitten's golf season ended (or at least was suspended) a week or so ago. Meanwhile we've all been way too caught up in our gay wintergolf reverie to notice. Times like these I cannot help but to picture a backdoor left ajar, a lone set of snowy footprints leading into the woods...

Well it finally came. A snowy end to the Great Gay Winter Golf Extravaganza of 2016-2017. It's time I guess to strap in and ride this bitch out until March or whenever. Considering doing some snow-boarding on the weekend. To be honest it's kind of a relief to put golf out of the picture. Let's face it, I am tortured by my own golf game. I score like a teen capper, but then I usually hit that handful of nice shots each time out that deludes me into thinking I can be something more than a teen capper. So come to think of it, F stupid golf, who really needs it.

This was disappointing. 3 days ago the forecast was that we would get to the 3rd week of February without any meaningful snow. Even though I haven't been playing I've made good use of the range time and felt like I was really grooving a good swing. Now probably at least 2 weeks of inaction if not more. Bummer.
