I'll be in this thread for the next couple days. I'm going to call it a provisional stay though. Above freezing all day tomorrow followed by about a quarter inch of rain on Sunday, at which time we will re-evaluate the situation. Considering also that there are no weather events on the horizon, and a warming trend forecast for next week, there really is no certainty re: the status of golf right now. If anything the situation is looking slightly favorable.

This weather is insane.

Was 24* this morning and we are supposed to have a high of 74* on Sunday. 50 f'ing degree swing in 48-ish hours.

75* and sunny in Sarasota. Same forecast well into next week. :yess

Sorry. Couldn't help myself. It just sounds so sucky up there. I had to rub it in just a little. I'll be back up in MD soon enough. I'll do what I can to bring the good weather with me.

Could be worse...Sydney on Friday hit 107.5° with about 85% humidity. Western Sydney was 116.6°.

Saturday it was expected to be 101° but at 4 in the morning it was 76° and 84% humidity.

I went snowboarding today. The mountain was busy and crowded, it was like playing a five and half hour long Saturday round. It was pretty fun overall. Although on the chairlift rides I will admit, I had thoughts about golf.

Weather is in fine asshole form today. It's like a hybrid of snow, frozen snow, sleet, frozen rain and frozen fog. A deluxe wintry mix if you will.

Yes, you are correct. It's not. I'm sorry. If it's any consolation, I have not yet played any golf here in Florida. Family commitments. Hopefully tomorrow.

The "rain" yesterday was cold, icy, sleety and not exactly very wet. It didn't make much a dent in the permafrost. If we are going to have any more Februarygolf here in the tri-state, we gonna have to do it the hard way.

I haven't played since... I think... October? I may hit up a simulator @ some point but will be headed to South Carolina to play the end of next month. I haven't played in so long I don't know what to expect - plan is to expect nothing & be pleasantly surprised.

There's still snow covering a lot of the ground. But I just saw the forecast, sunny and 57-62º for the weekend. Wuuuuut??? How gay is that. By Sunday I will be able to go outside in just a flipped collar polo shirt, pair of salmon-colored shorts and top-siders, no socks. Poof. There goes the winter golf season I guess. From the weekend on probably going to be all gay, all the time. That's just great. Didn't feel like I ever really had a chance to hit my stride this time. Too many gayass warm spells. Oh well, good for the people in the business of selling golf at least. Bad for the true winter sports business though. The local ski mountains for instance, the ones at lower elevations, I believe they have been bent over the barrel this year.

The weekend is shaping up to be the gayest February weekend in the history of gay weekends. Posting this here because my feelings about it are mixed.

I understand. Every warm body in the Delightful Mitten that has ever held a golf club is preparing to descend upon the half dozen golf courses that will be open this weekend. Those allowing carts are going to be cart path only. Beer is going to be flowing. We are talking about the end to civil authority between the hours of 8am and 6pm. Après Vendredi, le déluge!!!!

I feel like this post is a bad idea. But I'm calling death to winter golf in Virginia Beach.

Saturday it was 75 and I'm heading to the range at 8:30 in shorts today. The forecast for this week has 2 days with highs mid to upper 50s and the rest of the week low to mid 70s.

I'd like to say I had a good winter run, but I didn't play much.

I do not concur with the premature announcement of the demise of winter. Everyone is just asking for trouble.
