Nice ball mark - the question is if it had gone in would you have played the 2nd round?

So not sure what happened with Game Golf. It merged the 2 rounds. I was only able to save the 1st round. Guess you have to turn it off then back on between rounds. Oh well.

I am pretty sure I shot 85 and was physically and mentally shut down on the last 6 holes.

Here is the 1st round.

Actually the most interesting part of this shot was I was super pissed on the tee box and wasn't accepting anything more than a 2 on this hole.

I went double, bogey on #10 and 11with hitting only 2 bad shots (one bad decision). Then on #12 (odd par 5) I hit 4i/5i perfect. Had 154 to the hole slightly down wind. A ridge in front of the pin which was about 6 paces off the back edge. I knew I had been flushing my irons all day. So I had originally grabbed 9i because the wind. Changed my mind decided to just hit a smooth 8, figured there is no way for me to hit 8i 160 yards over the green and wanted to be on the back shelf. I hit it exactly like I wanted, coming down right on the stick. I'm thinking it has a chance to be a tap in birdie then it disappears. I flew the fucking green.

Oh well simple chip just don't run it 8' past so it doesn't catch the ridge. I blade it down the ridge and 2 putt for bogey. 3 irons that were perfect 1 bad chip and I'm +4 through 3 on the back side.

In a fit of anger I dropped the ball to re-chip it. What happens? I make the damn chip for a would be birdie.

So standing on the tee of the par 3 13th I was running hot and committed to making birdie, then nearly get my first ace in 27 years of playing golf.

Ugh just realized that this is an 82 in the first round. I remembered that on #5 I was just off the fairway and I lifted the ball to clean it and place it.

Just remembered that we agreed to preferred lies in the fairway only for the frozen balls challenge. Even though it was so warm (44*) that 80 wasn't going to contend anyways.

I'm pretty sure that is the only hole I did that on.

It's all good fish. Lift, clean and place is OK by me. What say you bk? By the way it is snowing as I type. Just a squall but ground white. Wish I was out there competing for this prestigious title.

Agree with CeeBee - when we are dealing with crap conditions a bit of looseness in the Rulez is not an issue. In fact, it was pretty amazing how much goose crap there was on our city's executive course a few days ago. Those little green Tootsie Rolls were everywhere. If one is in the rough with a nice solid goose turd affixed to one's ball, I have no problem cleaning the ball up. If you hit that turd who knows where the pieces will land! :o

Winter rules are for snowflakes. Not that there's anything wrong with that. (I guess. :facepalm) I don't do 'em. Couldn't live with it. Not trying to look down my nose at any of you, just trying to give voice to the tiny minority who are of the same mind.

I'm generally with you. The tournaments I played in this year were all lift clean & place. I was pretty disappointed by that fact. In my mind only one of the 3 times it made sense to play lcp.

That being said I do feel that in the winter you are more likely to get a bad lie due to lack of grass growth. So I am OK with playing lcp in the fairways only. No need to reward a shot that wasn't good.

Good for you. I typically don't take a 2 stroke penalty when a flagstick is frozen in the hole because of ice and can't be removed. Happens a lot and it makes no sense to me to say I took a "4" on a par 3 when my tee shot ended up 12 inches from the hole and the only way to hole out was to hit the ball with the flagstick in the hole.

The purists can write down "4". I will write down "2". We will both be happy and look at each other and think an uncharitable thought.

Shot an 82 this morning with a real temp of 38* at tee time, with a 10 mph wind out of the north. Shot an 87 this afternoon.

It's finally here. Feels like I've waited so long for it.

Finally, the weather is turning cold. Time to put away the polos and the shorts. For reals this time. Time to lay out all the long johns and the insulated outerwear and what not. Say goodbye to all fairweather golf course douchebags, see you again sometime in mid-2018.

Just played my 6th round in December today, and it's only December 6th! And, most of those rounds included some of the best ballstriking I've had all year. Looks like a December to remember.

BTW, only 15 days until the days start getting longer.

Its my 2nd round of the month, Saturday I have a tournament. Soccer season is over, for now, so more time for golf :)
It was a crisp 60 out here... nice.

Pity my score was much higher than 60 lol.

Everything is white here in the Frigid Mitten. A few days of 40+ degrees would clean the little covering up but it is not going to happen for at least 10 days.

Shit got real. We are getting a few inches tomorrow. Played a shitty round in the cold yesterday but might have to go again today in case the season is over for good. Never know.

I have a 9:30 tee time on Sunday.

The expected feels like temperature at 9:00 am is 27 degrees.
