December Golf!!!

Post by bkuehn1952 » Sat Dec 03, 2016 8:39 am

:yess There was -0- chance I was not going to play this week. Twelve months of Frozen Mitten golf is not something that happens very often. Hats off to Mr. Fish, too, for his December golf.

Will there be January golf in the Mitten? Time will tell but history says it is unlikely.

Okay boys, get the clubs out and play. Don't let just our Southern and Left Coaster friends tell golf stories.
Let's Play 36
GHIN Handicap: 7.8 … 9.2 … Let’s just say I am around a 14!

Why do I have this vision of you standing outside spraying an aerosol can up towards the sky saying "eat this ozone"

There is going to be December golf for me, come hell or high water, God damnit! :fk

No snow forecast for the next 10 days anyway and my leg is feeling close. Even if it is only a few holes, I am getting out there as soon as the leg feels a little more stable. In the meantime, I am going to the range to see how it feels and to see if I still have some semblance of a swing left in muscle memory. Between my back strain early in the month and my calf muscle tear, November was a rough month. My goal now is to play more golf in December than I was able to in November. Due to the injuries, I only got 4 rounds of golf in, plus two holes on the day the muscle tore. So 75 holes is my goal for December, hopefully beginning sometime next week.

When I went to return the cart key the guy was like "You played in about three hours!" I was like "Hellz yeah I did!" What he didn't know was that I actually played 27. :banana

As a general rule, wives, girl friends and cart guys are better off not knowing all the details. Well done.

So I'm going to play this weekend. Was hoping to play Saturday because the high is 42, which will give me some hope in the challenge.

But the wife has plans Saturday, so I'll play Sunday (high around 50).

Looks like our little unseasonable-weather party of 2016 is about to end. Now we enter the period of uncertainty. Living on the knife edge, teetering between golfability and ungolfability. Probabilities are still low but the specter of snowfall is now creeping into the forecasts. Existence itself is now on a day-to-day basis. I am not sure I would want it any other way though.

Looking ahead to this Saturday, temps in the 30s and hopefully low winds.

I played today but this is likely the end. Toward the end of the round the 35 degrees and 10+ mph wind was fairly chilly. From this point on, we won't see temps above 32 degrees for a week. The turf is going to freeze and for me, that is the final blow.

For those on the more temperate east coast or the almost topical south and west, good golfing and see you in March. Signing out from the icy mitten, bkuehn1952.

No way Jose. We need you here, contributing to the forums every single day between now and March. You are NOT on vacation for the winter dammit! Get ur ass on this site daily and write more of those profound words you always tend to come up with. Got it?! :fk

I guess this is BK's annual radio silence period. The clubs probably got tossed in the basement after the last round, still caked with autumn mud. BK's probably out for one of many long solitary walks in the woods. But eventually he'll get around to cleaning the clubs, at which point he'll be overcome with reverie and start musing about golf again.

I ran across another website with a similar name. Interesting read. Here is one of the better passages:

"I started to get hot inside my layers. I took deep breaths and tried to keep it together, even though what I really felt like doing at that moment was stripping down to my underwear, hammer-throwing all fourteen clubs in a circle and challenging everyone on the whole stupid course to strip down and fight me."

Be careful who you invite into your foursome, fellows!

Pared 3, 4, and 6. Bogies 5 and 7.

8 was 196 yard par 3 into the wind. I smoked 4i to 10' and drained it. Standing on #9 tee. Par on this 530 yard par 5 dead into the wind gives me my first sub par 9 ever.

Blistered the drive might be able to reach in 2 but it's probably 230+ over water.

Decision I hate laying up inside 230
