1st annual (maybe last) Legitimate Frozen Ball Challenge

Post by jasonfish11 » Thu Mar 16, 2017 10:44 am

So here are the people who posted scores in the other thread.

Please vote for who you feel has the best cold weather round.

Voting ends next week, and like true US elections 2nd place gets the trophy (okay that last part isn't true for this contest).

As a side I'm disappointing that beef himself didn't post a score in that thread. :fk
bkuehn1952 wrote:Mildly embarrassed by the easy course but I did play decently. 72, 7 handicap, par 70, feels like 35 degrees.

72 + 2 - 7 + 35 - 32 = 70.

I may not have another round in 2016 as we are supposed to get an inch or two of snow and after Wednesday we won't have a temperature above 32 degrees for the balance of the week. Not likely I will do better, either.
jasonfish11 wrote:77 38 feels like at tee off and 36 at the end. Par 72 course rating 71.5 from 6400 yards. 10 handicap

I think that gets me to 77-10+37-32+72-71.5 = 72.5 ish

Strokes lost (gained) on a scratch.
Drive - 1.89
Approach - (1.16)
Short - 0.67
Putting - 3.33
CeeBee wrote:LOL. I've played in some miserable conditions early on for sure with tees up. My round at Hollow Creek 0n 2/26/17 would be my contender. Moved back to the whites. Played 6384 yards, 70.8 rate/137 slope. 37* start temp with some wind. Finished at 47*. Shot 79/ Net 71. Not low enough to grab the GOLD.
DougE wrote:I don't think this one is a winner, but it is MY winner for the off-season. Snuck in a final round before the snow flies tonight. 40 degrees, up to about 15 mph breeze. Felt 36ish. Played the white tees, which are up for winter. Playing about 5800 estimate. Unfortunately, the blues are back, playing about 6500 and a bit too long in this cold for this old man. Shot 75/net 66. I don't feel it should be the winner, but maybe honorable mention. Both CeeBee and BK have better rounds IMO.
Duke of Hazards wrote:Okay, so I played in some pretty damn cold weather today (at least for where I live). There are a million posts above with confusing rules, so I'll post my stats and you guys figure it out.

HCP 19.2
ESC Score 92
Rating/Slope 65.7/115
Course HCP 20
Diff 25.8

Starting feels like temp 43
Ending feels like temp 61
sjduffers wrote:Btw, I played yesterday, a very poor round of 86 (par 72, 69.5/117) with a starting (and finishing) temp of 59F, with winds gusting at less than 10mph, so with my index of 10.0 (10 course handicap), the challenge score would be: (86 -10) + (59 -32) + (72 - 69.5) = 105.5. Not at all in the ballpark of BK's performance, lol.

I voted for the Duke, based on 36 holes in the rain. Dedication trumps score. :thumbs
Let's Play 36
GHIN Handicap: 7.8 … 9.2 … Let’s just say I am around a 14!

I voted for BK. I think all his winter rounds were walked rounds. He gets extra credit for that in my book. Plus, with this trophy under his belt, how could he not get picked for the "Ryder Cup" contest at Talamore Golf Resort, where he will become a muti-media star?

CeeBee also deserves recognition. He played in the worst conditions and scored well on a few occasions.

JFish, not bad at all, but you're young and strong. You should be able to handle it. ;)

The fair-weather boys in Alabama and CA, sorry. I know below 60* SEEMS rough, but it ain't. :nope

Me, I'm awarding myself the title of 'Most Rounds Over the Winter'. :yess I'll buy my own trophy, damnit! 40 winter rounds (since Dec. 1). I'm guessing that's even more than the fair-weather boys. :thrust

Jason, FYI, the link to the page is working, but the trophy isn't there. It says "the item does not exist in cart."

5 votes and we have a tie. Someone else needs to vote. If not I'm going to have to go King Lear and threaten to cut the trophy in 2.

Ok. I think I said it at the time, but BK's winter performance was impressive. So that's my vote. No offense Doug, but you probably played more than I did in CA this winter (rained out and unplayable for so long...). Second place would go to CeeBee of course. Well done, guys! :yess :thumbs
I'm gonna go low this time...

From Dec 1 to March 21 (Spring) I had 43 rounds total. (Had 3 additional rounds since my first report on the 16th.) Didn't think anyone was even close. I should have known you'd be right there. You played a lot of crappy days when I did not. And I was out due to injury most of December.

I had 30 rounds since Dec 1, but I also have a full time job.
I will stand in the fairway, I want to be out of your range.

I want a recount. I think there were at least 3-4 members who committed voter fraud. :fk

The Trump victory, or the Hillary victory? Everyone assumed she was going to win, but she did not. :wah :school :facepalm
