Buddy Trip 2017

Post by jfurr » Sun Mar 26, 2017 11:05 am

House is rented, rounds are set. Five days of fun coming up after masters week. Which means we will actually be golfing the Saturday and Sunday masters weekend, which is kinda a bummer. I'm sure we will record it on DVR and watch after.

We have basically 16 players on the weekend and 12 in the week. The last course added is one of my favorite's - True Blue Plantation in Pawley's Island.

Mon-Wed are the stroke/handicap rounds for the jacket. The weekend is the match play North vs South. I'm in charge of the format on the weekend. Last year we did both singles and team matches at the same time.
I'm gonna hit a provisional

All that fun is great and everything, but just don't forget your duties as LegitimateGolf's Weekly Pick'em Administrator. ;)

What does Vegas have for the "over/under" on Furrman?

Last year our final round was on the toughest, windiest course and I put a two over 38 down on the front nine - something I can't believe. But then I threw up on my shoes on the back with a 50.

Based on recent performance, the smart money seems to be flocking to the "over" side of the bet. I put $10 on the "under" but made them give me 4:1 odds.

Umm that isn't how over/unders work.
Keep it short stupid.

Actually, you can get different odds with over/unders and sides. Say if the book is getting action on a line, but not enough to move the line per se, they can adjust the vig.
I will stand in the fairway, I want to be out of your range.

Clubs/gear is packed. about to pack up clothes etc to head out in the morning. Will be mostly off the grid but will check in on the evenings on Masters chat etc. And if anything interesting happens here will report. I'm really looking forward to disconnecting and just playing golf with friends for a while.

Won my match 2&1. Tight fun match, even handicaps. He and I both ball striking well, mistakes all in the short game. Shot a 93 with 3 triples, one birdie.

South is up 15.5 to 8.5

Um. No.

Ballstriking not as hot today. And uncertain on these greens. Shot 96. Nothing much great. Played against "bogey" as we had a player bail out. Which mean I basically played against my handicap and list 2&1 I think.

It's 75° and sunny. Good stuff.

Monday played True Blue, one of my favorite courses on the south strand. Game wasn't there, swing not feeling great, and a ton of bad bounces and mishaps. 105

Today at Grande Dunes, first time playing this course. Felt good, swing was much better. Started on back nine, shot 38 with one birdie and a water penalty. Actually the bogie holes all were close par putts that missed. Not quite as well on the front side, had four water penaltie, shot 44 for an 82 total. Could be the low round of the group, still waiting for those guys to call me in we finished 30 minutes ahead of then and headed to the bar.

Couldn't hit the ball today, missed all but two fairways off the drive. After a few opening bogeys, ran into a streak of triples and checked out of the match. My cart mate shot 81 for the win. Great
