Post your pics of the courses you play

I find it interesting to see pics of the courses everyone plays. Not just the glamor shots, but various unique features and situations you might find yourself in from anywhere around the track. A description of each shot would also be helpful.

I hope to post many photos to this thread going forward, and I hope you all will too.

To get things started, here are two shots taken from pretty much the same vantage point, 6 months apart. One in the winter, the other a couple weeks ago. I had forgotten about the first one, but knew there was something familiar about the second one so went back and looked and realized I had shot virtually the same shot last winter. It is taken from a high point between the 8th green and 9th tee box, looking out over a good portion of the course.

The pictures do not really show how hilly the course is. Much more than is obvious in these two pics.

What does "WM" stand for? Maybe as a standard convention we should label the photos with the course, hole # and date - if available. Should we assume the 3rd photo is Beth Page? Which hole?

Cherokee valley just outside Greenville SC #15.
200 yards but I played it like it was 180 and hit it pin high.

Bethpage Black, #16. About a three-story descent to the fairway from the tee box.

I went to Pierce Lake Golf Course this morning. My golf effort was sadly lacking but I did manage a few photos.

This is looking down the fairway from the 11th tee. It is a short part 4 (325 yards from the Blue tee) and many would hit an iron or hybrid. It is not as tight as it looks. I typically hit a driver to get me close for a wedge.

From the tee of the 15th hole. It is a par 5, only 441 from the Blue. If I hit a decent drive just right of the workers (working on a bunker) I might have a go at the green. As it was, I hit to the middle of the fairway and the hill stopped the ball.

A decent 3 wood put me about 85 yards from the far right & back hole location. This course has a number of holes where the far back left/right positions are really tough. In this instance I was a touch long (white speck past the pin).

The 18th hole (par 3) is featured in a book "1,001 Golf Holes You Must Play Before You Die." Frankly, it is a tough hole, especially with a back right hole location, but I doubt it makes the top 1,001 holes. Today it was as far back and right as one can go. The flag is right of the guy on the lawn mower. I played the hole at "191" but the green is over 60 yards deep so the hole was 225 yards away. From the "Black" is was over 270 yards to the hole. I was in the bunker and got up & down for par.

A familiar bum, after teeing off on the 9th hole (my 18th as we started on #10).

Holiday golf. This is in Exeter, Devon. It's a nine-hole course which I went round twice, scoring 94 (45 and 49).

The cider was excellent.

That's cool looking. Is it supposed to look like a an animal's paw? Looks like my cat's handprint.

Not sure anyone have Reece Jones's number? I'll ask lol

I'd find it hard to imagine that was not inspired by a paw print.

Kind of on topic, if you look at my club website (http://www.braesidegolfclub.com/) there's a link at the lower right to photos - taken by my wife - of our men's championship.

They're mostly group pictures, but there are a couple of action shots.

When are you gonna step up your game and take down that prima donna, Andrew Shannon?

14th hole at Worthington. 340-yard (blue tees), very slight dogleg left, par 4. If you are game, you can go straight at the tree on the left of the fairway and shorten the hole by hitting a shot that bounces under it on the right side and bounds back toward the fairway, though there is a good-sized fairway bunker just left of the fairway, at about the distance off the tee as the tree. (You can see the green behind that tree, just to its right.) Approach shot is typically some sort of wedge from right in front of the 10 picture windows in the restaurant of the clubhouse (to right of fairway). Always feel like I'm being watched by many through those windows and and feel pressure to make a great shot. I have more birdies on this hole than most other holes on the course according to my stats. Maybe the pressure is good.

Doug,
I'd be interested in a photo (not necessarily from the tee box) & tutorial of each hole if you are bored one day. Not sure if others are as interested as I am though.

I like that idea. I'll take more pics and would enjoy the project. Maybe someday you'll play Worthington, which, though it is not necessarily the toughest course in Maryland, at 137 slope from the blues or 145 from the blacks, it will surely be a challenge you might enjoy, and is certainly one of, if not the toughest track in the area. Course conditions are usually very good-excellent and greens are fast, with plenty of undulation and slope. (Too much in my opinion!)

I may have to do it in installments though. Maybe a hole or two a week. I'll start on the 1st next chance I get. Pictures are easy. Writing the descriptions will take me some time. But I'm up for it if someone will read it.
