:rofl It's a lot of work and we've been neglecting it for some time. But, we've made some changes, going to counseling and turning it into a positive thing.

Question: When is a "79" for a player of my limited ability a warm pile of crap?

Answer: When one doubles the last two holes for the "79". :puke

No, most of the warm pile is not crap at all. It's just that the cherries on top are a bit rotten.

(But, I get your disappointment.)

We have reached the swampy dog days of summer already. It is so swampy and humid. I am actually considering shutting down the golf season for now. Golf in this crap is a goddamn chore, with all the rehydrating, sunscreen applying, shade seeking, wrestling with sticky clothes, peeling wet gloves on and off. Don't know about you guys but my hands are pretty tore up lately from the humidity. Might have to hit up the simulator soon. :puke

I love it. It's times like this it feels like exercise, and i feel less guilty about not doing other, healthier things.

Hmm. Maybe that's the ticket. I exercise quite a bit and that probably leaves me less in the tank for slogging through summer golf rounds.

I feel that this is wrong. Generally people who exercise have more energy than people who dont.

It's complicated, for this douchebag at least. For instance on Fridays I usually do my leg workout--squat, deadlift, lunge. Then for most of the weekend my legs will feel kind of weak and ineffectual. But then by Monday or Tuesday I feel primed, like I could box-jump onto the kitchen table and stuff.

In other words maybe fitness gives people a higher ceiling or whatever, but I do find that exercise definitely taps into my overall energy budget.

So you have leg day right before the tow days you get to golf? Maybe switch up that leg day. I can't imagine golfing after legs. I need a couple day buffer if i go hard at legs or back.

Working out tends to be addictive and habit forming and no, that's not a passive brag. Sometimes I am helpless against my own routine. In a way I have become hooked on that spent-legs feeling, and without it I feel kind of lazy and incomplete. Sad but true.

It's complicated! Because I'll sneak out to play during the week oftentimes. Trust me I have tried negotiating within myself, and the workout addict usually wins. The sad part is I don't have much to show for all this iron pumping/nutsack splitting.

So here is my parody to attempt to lift your spirits beef.

I fully expect Furr to record this in the next week and send it to Weird Al (or the golf boys).

Summer is fucking back
The fairways are so god damn packed
Wake me up when September ends
Breakfast balls a frequent sight
5 hours is a delight
Wake me up when September ends

Here come the heat again
Beaming from the sun
Drenched in my sweat again
Becoming much less fun
As my patience drains
Turn my focus to the range
Wake me up when September ends

Summer is fucking back
The fairways are so god damn packed
Wake me up when September ends
Breakfast balls a frequent sight
5 hours is a delight
Wake me up when September ends

Here come the crowds again
Zombies on the course
Waiting on the tee again
I want to punch the source
As my memory fades
But never forgets winters lost
Wake me up when September ends

Summer is fucking back
The fairways are so god damn packed
Wake me up when September ends
These morons will come to pass
3 more months can’t come too fast
Wake me up when September ends
Wake me up when September ends
Wake me up when September ends
This is not burger king you can not have it your way.

I was playing my standby home course, Hudson Mills. Almost no one out on the course even though it is Saturday and the weather was not too beastly. I hit a wedge to 4 feet for a possible par save and a front nine at two over. The slow single cart rider who has slowed me down a bit is leaving after nine. Things are flowing and serenity ...WTF!

A cart with two players is zipping over to #10. I try to remain calm but I rush my putt and miss. Then I start the march to #10, fuming. I silently walk up to the tee and stand there silently, glaring at the interlopers as they each hit two off their first hole.

Eventually, one of them notices me. He says, "the starter told us we could go off #10 since there were two walkers going off #1. But you can go ahead."

At that point, I figured they had hit and were ready to roll. Also, they would probably move along and I did not want them pushing me. If they sucked, I could play through later. So I told them to go and that my beef was was with the starter.

I walked over to the clubhouse. I could see the guy at the front desk through the window. I think he saw me coming because when I walked inside, there was no one behind the counter. I waited. And waited. No one ever came out. I walked back to #10 and played on. The two guys did their job and played fast until they were out of sight. Serenity returned.

Played a round at Ross Bridge in Birmingham today (6:30 tee time) and the bugs were beyond bad today. At least they seemed to not like my playing partners cigars.

Had a different summer problem. On a night where no rain was forecasted, my in-laws got 3+ inches of rain Friday night. Course was soaked. Slogging through soggy course with wet feet and 95 real feel temp due to the humidity. Today was pleasant at all, and that was before my worst round in years.

Ahhhh ... that explains that outlier score you just posted. I was wondering if you had broken an arm mid round. :oh

Can't really remember the last round of golf I played. Hardly anticipating the next one. What the hell's going on. By technical definition, per USGA or whatever, do I still qualify as an "active golfer"? Or am I in the "special occasion golfers" bin now? :facepalm
