Embedding YouTubes into a Post - A How To (UPDATED, PLZ READ!)

Postby legitimategolf » Sat Jan 03, 2015 12:32 pm

Messageboard posting can be made a lot more fun and enlightening with the addition of moving pictures. Here's how it's done!

1. Grab the link from the desired video by clicking on the "Share" button located below the YouTube video player. You need to use this special "share" link with the "youtu.be/xxxx", and not the regular "youtube.com/xxxx" URL. (Go ahead and ignore that pesky little "Be considerate" warning. Youtube/Google Corp., telling me to be considerate? Fuck you!!!)

2. Copy the link and paste into the body of the message.

[3. Highlight the link, then click on the handy "YouTube" button above the message box.]

4. Sit back and enjoy the good feedback that is inevitably coming your way.

Nice one.

Can't be dealing with that errant apostrophe though.

But of course. Also fixed the preposition.

Please note: youtube now uses the HTTPS (secured) links, so the tag has been updated accordingly.

So your links you put between the brackets now looks like this, with the "s" after "http"

Thank ya Jesus, thank ya Lord. And thanks Jfurr. Something was fishy yesterday afternoon--I had gotten in there and tried changing the code too, only the changes wouldn't seem to save. WHATEVER.

UPDATE

We souped up the code to enable not just YouTube, but a whole host of other media like Twitters and instantgrams and what not.

NOT ONLY THAT but now the process is unbelievably simple. Tags no longer needed. Just grab the "share" link and paste it into the message and WAH LAH. Enjoy.

The future is now.

Two years later, I just want to give you and the huge tech staff supporting you, a giant "Thank You." Making this site "old guy" friendly is a real plus. :thumbs
